Our lake view room was minimally appointed and like a basic motel. The AC was deafening, bathroom tiny, and furnishings offering little comfort. Housekeeping was practically non-existent, despite their offer of daily service. Walking barefoot on the floor left our feet filthy. The overall appearance of this motel is depressingly shabby. All this for a rate of almost $400 per night. We left as soon as we could find another place to stay. read more

The Surpringly unfriendly receptionist should have provided ear plugs to guests since the noise of the train tooting its horn as it trundled close by at 1am and 8am on a Sunday morning was really annoying. Breakfast was unappetizing and there was no milk for tea. When I wanted to park in the lot it appeared full though I did find 2 spaces blocked by garbage cans and needed to move 5 in order to gain a space. The positioning of the toilet in the bathroom was incredibly badly thought out - not enough space to sit without feeling your nose is up against a wall. And I'm only 5'3" On a positive note the location was good and the room was clean. read more

Great location, but really can use some serious updating. Rooms smell musty, need a deep cleaning. Tiny towels in bathroom, no counterspace, only a small shelf above the toilet, bathroom is so tiny, there isn't room for the toilet, you have to turn to the side to sit on it. The positives: really nice heated outdoor pool, lovely view of the lake, great restaurant/movie theater next door. Beds and pillows were comfortable and there was a tiny kitchenette. read more

The Lakeshore Inn, I've always wanted to stay here but it's a 15-minute drive from my house so when would you have the opportunity? Fast forward to Covid-19 and social distancing and wanting a change of scenery. The bonus is you can support and shop local while doing so. We checked in on a Friday night and it looked pretty full. Although, I rarely saw other guests as we hung out on our balcony most of the time. We picked up take out one night at a local pizza place. The two queen rooms were nice and had a kitchenette which I appreciated as we ate in both nights. I enjoyed having both a microwave and a refrigerator. The coffee maker had a bit of an issue in that you had the hold the bottom of a hot coffee pot to pour it. Looks like something with the handle has gone wrong. We used a towel to avoid a burn. Note to management- please check for a replacement in room 31? The TV was small a 19 or 25 inch but very adequate for the size of the room which was compact but very serviceable. It had everything you needed. We couldn't access the cable there was something wrong with it but we had plenty of streaming items available so we did that when we wanted. In the Covid-19 phase, they have placed a note inside the room saying they will not conduct daily room service for everyone's safety. I think that's fine for two nights we had everything we needed and just a phone call away if we needed more. All in all a great time and I'll definitely go back as it appears we are not going anywhere long distance for a while. read more

I've never left a negative review before, but there's a first for everything, including checking out of a hotel within an hour of checking in. This is unfortunately what my daughter and I did. I booked a room here for our annual girls shopping trip after seeing the pictures of the sparkling lakeside pool and proximity to stores and restaurants. The location is the only thing going for this hotel, but it wasn't enough to overcome how run down and dirty it is inside and out. You can't see the cobwebs, dirty windows, stained wallpaper, cracked toilet or green pool in the pictures on the web site or social media, but that's what we experienced. The downstairs rooms next to the cramped parking lot and dumpsters felt unsafe, so we moved to an upstairs room that we had to pay more for. We were trying to get used to our situation when the door to our locked room suddenly opened and an employee walked right in. That was the last straw. The front desk attendant was apologetic but didn't seem particularly surprised that we were leaving. I guess because it is the "only lakeside hotel in L.O.", they can get away with it. Hopefully reading about our experience will save someone else from wasted money and a ruined vacation. read more

I would like to follow up on our recent negative review. After our stay, we were contacted by the manager with apologies for our poor experience. After some back and forth, we worked out a pricing adjustment to reflect the cleaning service which we did not receive. While we would rather have had the expected cleaning service instead of the price adjustment, we appreciate the efforts made to address our concerns. Well, this is the second stay here in a year. The first time my sheets were so old they were all nubby and scratchy with a hole in them. Note: I wrote them four days ago requesting info ... on the day before my stay - no one still has answered ‍ - bad customer service, for sure. The Courtside room i stayed in a year ago was big and i didnt know it had a kitchenette, which was great as a traveller! So good points for that! This time I splurged for the Lakeside room, considerably more, and was SO disappointed. It was for an anniversary and about as UNROMANTIC as could be, save we could see water. The "leather like" loveseat was god knows how many years old and dissentigrating! There needed to be sheer white curtains for privacy - it is very hot in late aft - but we really didnt want to draw blackout curtains, i mean the lake view is the whole point! There is no screen on the sliding door - which there should be - so u cant leave open (many birds on the lake) - so that all played poorly for any romance... Pluses: a good bathtub and refurbish. Good kitchenette refurb. Small LR fyi tho - wouldnt choose the "one bedroom" again. Studio on courtside much better. Decent AC. Our bedroom fan was not working properly - so it was hot all night, even w LR air condish. NOTE: it is very close to train tracks and u will hear that several times in the nite. I like it, so wasnt a problem for me. Feel like as a second stay again with issues - mgment should have offered us a refund or a gift certificate? as good management does. Bottom line - no one has put any thought or feeling or attn into the decoration of what could be an amazing property. Its as bland as any Motel 6. Which is disappointing for such a prime property! At that kind of average ambiance, and less than stellar conditions ... it should be MUCH lower prices. Although the location is very convenient and excellent, everything else about this Inn is truly disappointing. Staff does not inform visitors that rooms aren't "cleaned" unless requested and "cleaning" is just given new towels. Spiders in bathroom, massive cobwebs on deck. AC did not work properly. Great location with fast and friendly check in and check out service. Very pet friendly complete with dog dishes for the room, special towels for drying your dog's feet after a walk in the rain, and a bag of treats. Not fancy but very clean and retro-chic styled rooms. The covered decks for all of the lake facing rooms made was perfect spot for a night cap! Will definitely make this my first choice when in LO. read more

3.5 stars. I'm reviewing this for what it is - a conveniently located and reasonably priced inn. It's not a luxury hotel or a chain like Marriott where you get a bunch of competitive amenities. Overall, we had a good experience, but it was not quite what we were expecting. The pros are that the hotel is very clean, and well maintained. The hotel has a good location if you do not want to be in central Portland. It is located right by the upscale suburb of Lake Oswego, right on the eastern arm of the lake. A Peet's, Starbucks, French bakery, Whole Foods 365, Rite Aid and numerous other restaurants are in walking distance, as is a two screen neighborhood movie theater. Be sure to visit the Salt & Straw Ice Cream joint or the Lake Oswego Ice Creamery around the corner! The hotel is right on a bus line with good service to central Portland (albeit about a 30 minute ride). The rooms are reasonably spacious and I believe each has a balcony. The rates are very reasonable. Refrigerators in the room plus nearby coffee shops, etc. The downsides are that the hotel is not the quietest. From our room, we could easily hear any conversation on the neighboring balconies, plus conversations on the lakefront walkway across the water (by the railroad tracks). Parking is a challenge - although to the hotel's credit, they do tell you where to find overflow parking (and where not to park). If you are planning to visit Portland and spend most of your time downtown and . or in Lake Oswego, this is a good place to stay. read more

Charged for a room we canceled 48+ hours prior to check-in due to unforeseen event with Covid! We had a business meeting with our financial institution scheduled in Lake Oswego but the company called us 2 days prior to our stay to inform us several of their employees tested positive for Covid and the meeting was cancelled. Due to upcoming Holidays, the meeting was postponed to some time in 2023. I immediately called Lakeshore to cancel our reservation (for a studio room on a Thursday night, off season in October) and was told by the manager Heather they have a policy that no matter what, we would still be charged for the room unless it fell within their 72 hour cancellation policy. When I explained that this was a cancellation out of our control due to Covid and not a cancellation by our doing, she said no matter what we would be charged for our Thursday night reservation. For the record our room was a studio for $147.00 a night but apparently that amount of money means more to this establishment than good customer service. Heather stated our choice was to "come and stay within the 2022 calendar year for fun or be charged for the room" neither of which are good choices. Heather also clearly stated we COULD NOT reschedule for 2023 because it wasn't in the current calendar year. My husband is 70 years old, I am 65 and we live on the North Oregon Coast so we don't just "drive over the mountain for fun" we're seniors and making that drive is challenging even on a good day. We chose Lakeshore because of proximity to our meeting location and because it felt like the best and safest option for two seniors on a fixed income. Bottom-line, if Heather's hands are so tied by the ownership of Lakeshore Inn that she can't make an independent decision to do the right thing especially when it comes to Covid, you will be out a room charge under no uncertain terms. read more

We have visited twice over the years as my son lives nearby and found the hotel to be perfect for our needs. Beautiful lake views. I received a call today from a very nice young woman who informed me that I was a 'no-show' last night. Ack! I had completely forgotten to cancel this reservation due to an unexpected surgery and subsequent recovery at the beginning of November. Long story short they did not charge me for one night due to a medical emergency. Such great service and compassion! We look forward to staying at the Lakeshore Inn again in the near future. read more

The Lake Shore Inn has an amazing location, friendly staff and large rooms. Although it is very well maintained, the bathrooms could really use a remodel. Mine was clean, but there was a ring of rust around the faucet. Space for toiletries was limited, and the toilet placement was awkward. In addition, in my second floor room I experienced a lot of noise from adjacent rooms. I could hear a television constantly, and when the people in the room one floor up walked around, it was quite loud (and accompanied by lots of squeaking floor boards). One morning I had no choice but to wake up earlier than planned. I visited without a car, and was able to get to downtown Portland on the 35 bus, which stops just steps from the inn. Lyft also operates here. As an allergy sufferer, I wish they kept the tags on their pillows so I could be sure what was in them. They told me they switched out the pillows, but the new ones felt no different from the original down pillows, and had no tags. I had a cold anyway, so I can't be sure whether my symptoms were caused by down pillows or not. If you stay here, request a room on the top floor with a lake view. read more

What a little gem! Picked this hotel as it was very close to Lewis and Clark. Doesn't look like much from the backside when you arrive. Nicely appointed office and sweet staff. Checked into my room and wow! It was huge! Opened my sliding glass door onto the deck and I was right on the beautiful lake. Stunning view and night and when I woke up in the morning. I had forgotten my toothbrush and the hotel had complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste. Nice little muffin, juice and coffee set up as well. Stay here if you want a nice big room and a beautiful view. read more

We booked a ladies birthday trip "staycation" at the Lakeshore Inn. Three best friends celebrating a milestone birthday. Sadly we checked out after the first night and did not complete our stay. Pros: - The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. - The location is great. - Parking is included and plentiful. - One bedroom suite had a fridge and a microwave. - Lake view is pretty. Cons: - We were in Room 28. Not sure if it's different from the others, but it was very shabby. It looks nothing like the photo on the website. - The carpets are very worn and a little gross. - The mattress in the bedroom was worse than terrible. It had permanent indents and definitely needs replacing. - In the bathroom there is barely any space to put your things. - There was only one chair in the sitting room part of room. With the bed open there is no place to sit at all. - The continental breakfast is a nice gesture, but the pastries from St. Honoree seemed like they were from yesterday and there was only one left at 8 a.m. and there were three of us. - Some other guests - two women - got home late and hung out on their deck smoking weed and talking very loudly. We had to close our slider which was a bummer because it was a super nice evening. Still could hear them talking through the closed door. - The mattress on the hide a bed was super bumpy - could feel all the springs. - In real life the pool area looks nothing like the photos on the website. It's super small, surrounded by a cyclone fence on one side and there are not many lounge chairs and the ones that are there are old. The canvas was super saggy. It's just a very cramped space. Yes, it's on the lake which is beautiful, but it just needs a lot of sprucing up out there - as does the lobby and the rooms. It's too bad because it's the only hotel in that area and it could be so much nicer if it was updated with a few more amenities in the room to make it somewhere that you want to hang out. We did not and checked out earlier than we planned. It's not a boutique hotel, that's for sure. (But thank you to the staff for accommodating our change of plans.) The room was appropriate, could use a little updating but was as expected and pictured on their website. My real concern was the lack of assistance post stay. We left a set of headphones in the room. We called the front desk and had to leave a message- no return call. My wife stopped in to ask the receptionist about the left item and he said he had to get to the manager. He left the counter went into the back and reappeared. Moments late the manager appeared, got coffee and went back into the back. Absolutely no attempt was made to address my wife. About a week ago I used the contact us feature on their website for the same inquiry- no response. Not sure why we are being ignored. read more

I would NEVER recommend this hotel. I made a reservation for a group over 10 months in advance. I communicated by phone and in person many times to confirm changing details. In the end I was charged for reservations which I had cancelled. The manager would not refund the charges despite the facts which involved dates of communications etc. This was an employee error not mine. I have never experienced such poor customer relations. The employees were wonderful but the manager was unprofessional and oblivious to correcting the situation. Customer satisfaction was not even on her radar. read more

We stayed here recently, for two nights. Since my husband and I were traveling with our young daughter, as well as my father, we needed a larger room. The two bedroom suite here fit our needs perfectly! Plenty of room, and the pull out couch in the living room made a great bed for our girl. The room was clean, beds were comfy and we loved the big balcony overlooking the water. The room had a large, well stocked kitchen with full size appliances. We also used the heated pool, which is on a deck right on the water. The breakfast was sparse...typical "continental" style. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, including Starbucks. Also a grocery store within walking distance as well as downtown shops. The only complaint was the train which runs right by the edge if the hotel, but it was not too often. We will definitely stay here again when we visit the area. read more

Unimpressed with the dormitory-like room and amenities rivaling a Motel 6. Despite a claimed update of paint, furniture, and fixtures this entire hotel has the structure of a older 1980's motel. The windows, walls, and floors are thin enough where you can hear people walking and talking outside or walking above you. Towards 12pm- nighttime the sun sets towards the sliding glass door allowing the room to heat up uncomfortably. In the single bedroom plan the air conditioner is a wall-mounted unit that is older and has air leaks on the side. It is mounted next to the sliding door and clearly expected to do more cooling work than it is rated for. The main bedroom lacks any air conditioning at all and instead counts on a ceiling fan to cool the occupants (the main air conditioner is down the hallway and can't possibly reach the bedroom with cool air. You'll have to leave the bedroom door open to even have a chance of getting some cool air. Beware of summertime at this place- the rooms potentially can become very uncomfortable with little remedy other than to move hotels. Besides the very nice view of the lake and close proximity to new restaurants (love the French place), this hotel has nothing I would ever want to come back for. We were scheduled for a 4 night stay at Lakeshore Inn and cut it short by 3 nights. We went to the Residence Inn Marriott property a few miles down because I can't stand staying in a glorified dorm room with poor air conditioning. Yes- Lakeshore Inn offers a kitchenette with fridge and microwave, however, the Kmart-esque quality of appliances and 70's style formica office counters and cabinets doesn't exactly seal the deal for me. All in all I guess you get what you pay for. I'm choosing to vote with my dollars to go someplace else where the rooms are more updated and amenities more modern. It's only around $35 more per night to go to a different hotel with central air conditioning and modern amenities. I don't care about the lake view as I'd rather have a comfortable room to stay in that doesn't leave me feeling inconvenienced and compromised. Pros: Friendly office staff, balcony lake view, close walking distance to newer restaurant area, rooms are relatively clean, pool and deck area is small but ok, relatively inexpensive Cons: One in-wall air conditioner in the main room doesn't reach the bedroom with cool air (15 feet away down a hall), kitchenette reminds me of what you would see in a trailer, mix-matched and cheap quality furniture throughout, heating is the old style on-wall ground GE heaters, fuse box exposed in obvious location on wall in main room, older building construction= noise all over from ceiling to outside, built right next to a working railroad track (it's 10pm and I'm listening to a train roll through). Oddities: The wall air conditioner unit has gaps to the outside allowing insects to easily crawl through. Alarm clock is literally from the 70's with the wood veneer styling, shower area is pieced together in sections because they couldn't fit a newer fiberglass tub in, bathroom fixtures are more like Home Depot personal use than hotel quality commercial use, my single room's air conditioner air flow was obstructed by the oddly placed 24" Vizio TV in the corner, many items in the room seem like the handyman from Karate Kid put them together (RIP Pat Morita). read more

A wonderful older hotel with reasonable prices right on the water. The two top-floor suites are a bit musty and could use an overhaul, probably they don't get used as much. Our double queen room one floor below was really nice, quiet, clean. Great remodeled bathroom with a lovely deep tub ... however the water wasn't real hot so that could be improved. Staff was very helpful in the late evening when we arrived, but a different woman was surly the next morning. Can't win 'em all. Easy walking in the quiet town to good eats, and nice walks around the lake as well. Funny that the worst review of Lakeshore Inn comes from someone who actually lives in Lake Oswego. How many of us stay in hotels in our hometowns? (Maybe she checked in and out in 15 minutes because she remembered her home and husband just down the road?) Lake Oswego is a gilded Marin County wanna-be town, so I smell a local rat who wants to "bulldoze completely" this older, less glittering gem in deference to a St. Regis or something similar. read more

The view is nice but that is all! We had traveled all day and were not able to check in till after 4pm. The place was gross and dirty. In desperate need of updating. The carpet is gross and it looks like it hasn't been changed in over 20 years. The guy at the front desk was so laid back, I think he may have been stoned. He didn't care that we couldn't get into our room till after the official check in time as stated on their website. We paid over $200 bucks for a bad experience. The only positive was the view and that there are some good eating options near by. Oh, did I mention, their elevator was broken. We had to climb 4 flights to the 'penthouse' with luggage. This place sucked! Do not spend your money here. Do VRBO or stay at another place. The Holiday Inn would be a better option. Bad service, dirty, late check in, broken elevator, old, dated, tired and gross bathrooms. I wouldn't even walk barefoot on their carpets. read more

I'm torn about how to review the Lakeshore Inn. After reading so many great reviews, I had high hopes. And nearly every one was met. The location is fantastic, with great dining options in easy walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly comfortable. But the trains at night! I have gathered, from staff the next morning and from re-reading the reviews, that the trains do not present a problem every night. Some nights, guests just get unlucky. On our stay, THREE trains woke us in the middle of the night. And by woke, I mean loud honking directly next to the hotel. No one could possibly sleep through this. If you have no trouble falling back to sleep in the night, then I recommend this place wholeheartedly. Sadly I won't be returning, unless I feel willing to risk a sleepless night. read more

I had one of those rare experiences where you look back and realize how amazing everything was. I was in Oregon for business and stayed on Lake Oswego, at the Lakeshore Inn. First, this is a beautiful area, with a quaint feel that really is special. According to the local weather station, this was one of the best days of the year, which certainly helped my experience. The day temp was about 78, and dropped to maybe 70 at night. The next morning was ideal for a jog around the lake, which was awesome. The Inn is about location, it's right on Lake Oswego, which is beautiful, visually spectacular. The hotel is located within walking distance of everything you might want, restaurants, Starbucks, Vons, a movie theatre. The Inn is also dog friendly, which had a lot of pet owners very excited. As for the hotel, make sure you get a lake view, $145 after tax. The room is certainly adequate, two flat screens, a little fridge, AC, and free wireless internet. This is an independent Inn so the staff affords a local flavor, all very nice people. During the day, when the weather permits, they even have a pool which overlooks the lake. This would be a very romantic escape, however, I was solo on my trip. I plan to be back, super cool experience. read more

This is a place I would visit again, despite certain shortcomings. This is mostly due to the extremely friendly staff, location, and price. As mentioned, the location was something that attracted me to the place as it is literally on the lake. I walked out onto the deck, and I can see reflections from the lake water under the floor boards. Additionally, the view of the lake was extremely pleasing. I came here for the purpose of finding a quiet spot so that I could prepare for final exams. That is what I received and I was happy about that. With that said, this place is pretty old and a renovation to catch up to modern times would do wonders for the place. The walls are also thin, fortunately, the patrons, like I, were quiet people and I did not have any problems. With the age, the Inn's decor is not too inspiring. But this place is good for the money. The location alone merits a higher fee, and if they ever renovated, I could be potentially priced out from ever staying here again, haha. read more

With a king-size bed, a kitchenette, and a sliding door that opens out to the pool deck, you have more space than you ever dreamed necessary. First let me say this property is cute and in a great location. We love this area and have co me to this inn many times. The staff are mostly friendly and check in/out is always super quick. I have never had an issue with that. Pros: - Friendly staff - Great location - Lake views - HUGE bathtub and great shower CONS: - needs updating badly - walls are paper thin (you can hear everything word for word) - Loud trains go right by with the loudest whistle through the night - little to no parking, always cramped - small elevator I will say they were great in dealing with my most recent visit. I unexpectedly got a nose bleed in the middle of the night and got a good amount on the sheets. They changed the sheets right away and didn't charge a fee or anything, super understanding. If you are young or don't mind noise waking you up at night I would definitely suggest this place. We probably won't come back JUST due to the noise but once in awhile for Blazer games it wouldn't be a problem read more

What a beautiful hotel, with modern, updated, contemporary settings that we've come to expect in other hotels managed by Westover Inns (we stay at their Oregon Coast locations each summer - Lincoln City & Cannon Beach). Fantastic location in Lake Oswego, close to amazing restaurants & fabulous shopping. Just up the street is CRAVE Bakery, winner of last year's cupcake wars w/ her gluten free cupcakes. And coffee shops that nod to the coffee brewing reputation Portland is becoming known for. The lake was a beautiful view from our window & the staff were so helpful & friendly & knowledgeable about the area. Staying during the holidays was magical, as the city is lit up & you are blocks away from catching the special train that goes up & down alongside the Willamette River. As I understand it, in the summer the farmers market is down the street & Lake Oswego art fairs bring out the many talented artisans in the city. We really enjoyed our time spent here during the holidays. My husband travels for his job and is very picky about where he stays, the quality, the service. And Lakeshore Inn is one of those places we wouldn't hesitate to recommend to our family & friends. We look forward to staying here again too! Wonderful place! The location is in walking distance to all the best restaurants and the farmer's market in Lake Oswego. SWEET staff! It is ON the lake, meaning you could jump off your deck and land in the water. Parking is tight, so best not to bring a huge SUV. Units have great little kitchens. Stay far away from here! I made my reservation here and within a few minutes realized it was the wrong part of town where I needed to be. I canceled within 5 minutes and was told I would be charged for one night, So I called to see if they would have mercy? The man I talked to said the manager would be in at 7:00am the next morning, I asked booking.com to call right after I did (same answer) I missed her the next day and was told the same thing. Booking.com informed me that they were going to charge me for the 1st night (cancelation penalty) ... ok I guess that is fair enough... then I get my credit card statement weeks later and they charged me for all of the nights I had booked, when I called she said I was I had checked in and stayed there the whole time!! I have never been to the property in my life! She said the same thing to Booking.com So if you don't want to get ripped off stay away from this place. read more
