I love Lakeshore K9, They have taken such great care of our very nervous dog Addie. They do everything they can to make her comfortable being without us (she's a rescue and nervous away from us) I used to need to get out of the car and coax her to go in, now, she willingly goes all on her own :0). Their communication is fabulous and they clearly love the dogs and want them to be safe and happy and it shows. We are forever grateful. This is Addie passed out after a full day of love and playing

Love the service and just knowing she is well looked after. Very happy to give them my business.

I used several daycare places on the northshore and this is one of the most professional and well run. Easy drop off and pick up - note you cannot do 1/2 days. Lots of options for overnights. My dogs have been happy and tired when they came home.

Teddi is posing.

My fiancé and I started with Marnie in September. We adopted a dog that was aggressive towards…read moredogs, our cat, and my partner. We were very fearful we would need to give up the dog for everyone's safety. Marnie was a literal miracle worker. She came to our home AND did work with our dog at her home. Marnie helped to make her into a more confident and safe pet. She is a completely different dog. She is able to be around other dogs and play, other humans and give love, and most amazing be around the cat and not bat an eye. All of this was achieved without any corrective therapy like shock or prong collars. Marnie was a god sent and I would recommend her to anyone with a dog. Regardless of how good or "bad" the dog is. She will help you to communicate and build everyone's confidence so that everyone is safe and happy.

We cannot recommend Marnie enough. Her years of experience and depth of understanding of dog…read morebehaviors sets her well apart from other dogs trainers we've had. One thing was clear from the start: Marnie loves dogs and understands them. The first time she came to our home, Jasper immediately took to her, and she to him. Jasper came to us through a shelter, a very sweet, high energy, 1 year old Australian cattle mix. He was smart and eager to please in some ways but pulled hard on walks and, after we had him for several months, became leash reactive and aggressive . We tried two different dog trainers, both highly recommended, but made little progress. From our first in-home lesson, it was clear that Marnie has a depth of understanding of dogs and how to work with them that we had not seen before. She has helped with us to understand the roots of Jasper's negative behaviors, how to help him feel secure, and how to recognize and avoid trouble with aggressive behavior He has improved so much in reactivity and aggression and generally in being more responsive. He's much better at walking without pulling and getting along with others at the dog park. Marni also does both day care and boarding at her home which is surrounded by an acre yard that is totally dedicated to dogs. She gives private lessons there too. With Jasper in among other dogs, Marnie showed us how to "read" his behavior and reactions to the other dogs and how to intervene with firmness and kindness. He loves going to her place and comes back home happy and even better behaved. We cannot recommend Marnie highly enough!

So the camp is out near Wisconsin Dells now. I went to the winter camp session and the one thing I…read morewish someone had told me...Kosher kitchen for breakfast and lunch on Saturday. I'm not kosher, had no idea what this meant. It means they can't use a stove. So breakfast was predominantly continental with fish and hardboiled eggs cooked the day or days before. Lunch was cold cuts, egg salad, cold chicken, salmon, brisket, etc that again was cooked the day prior. Needless to say, I wish someone had told me this prior as I would have packed a cooler with food I particularly enjoy or left campus for meals during the Sabbath. Dinners were catered from local restaurants pizza one night and famous daves the following. The activities for my dog were great. I thoroughly enjoyed the activities we went to and found out my dog loves the lure course and will seek out more opportunities for her to do that in the area. Everything was organized well. My dog had a fantastic time. She's a year and a half so pretty energetic still. Most activities required her to be on a leash and I knew she was dying to just run around and play with the other dogs...however...I don't trust her in an open field. As such, something that would have made camp even better would be to have an enclosed area where the dogs could just play with each other. All in all, I will most likely return with a cooler of my own food next time.

It's held at Camp Henry Horner in Ingleside, IL...which is a lovely youth camp near Round Lake. Over the long weekend...you can try out almost every dog sport and activity you can imagine...lure coursing...flyball...frisbee...trick training...agility...rally obediance...canine freestyle (dancing)...tracking...dock diving...and if you have a herding dog...herding. You can also take seminars in arts and crafts...dog massage...nutrition...and grooming. Really...it's a bargain compared to driving you and your pooch around to fifty gazillion dog activities and classes. You can try a little of everything...and see what your dog likes. If you've ever thought..."I wonder if my dog would like that..." no need to wonder. You'll get a chance to try it all. And as for the actual camping...there are air conditioned accommodations...non climate-controlled cabins...and the option to pitch your tent out in the open...which is what I usually do...being a bit more "campy" than most. (And sliding rates depending on accommodation.) And even if you're going by yourself...don't worry...you'll have something instantly in common with everyone else there. You're crazy enough to spend a weekend treating your dog to dog heaven on earth. And if you have fond memories of youth camp...or scouting as a child...the whole thing is like a trip on the nostalgia express...only with more dog hair. My dog is a big fan of lure coursing...so for him...it's "Lure Coursing Camp." If I let him...he'd run his pads off. One of the great things at Camp Dogwood are the photos...they have professional staff photographers who follow the activity schedule...and you have the option to purchase the photos they take right at camp. (For a small and completely reasonable fee.) How wonderful not to have to worry about a camera all weekend!

My senior dog can't take epic grooming sessions, and her hair was choppy and uneven after her last groom. Her ears and tail had been weirdly shaved, and I wasn't sure we'd be able to make her look normal again during her lifetime. The staff at Rover's is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. The groomer we saw today has been grooming for 18 years, and had my sweet pup groomed in 45 minutes--and it's the best cut she's had in years. She did what she could to round out her ears, and to help set her up with a cut she can grow back into and look like herself again. My dog is fluffy, soft, adorable, and HAPPY! As a side note, all of the groomers there today were being so warm and friendly with the dogs in their care. I even saw one groomer sitting on the floor keeping a dog company while it waited for its owner. We will be going to Rover's for our grooming from now on!!

I had been told Leo needed anti depressants, anxiety meds, was a bad dog... you name it. I knew this wasn't true and knew that I needed a trainer who could observe us in some day to day settings and just take the time to listen to me and understand my relationship with my dog. Brandon's approach from our first phone call, to first zoom session, to subsequent trainings at home after that was nothing more than perfect. Every single time - he listened to what I had to share, and didn't make me feel bad or judge me if I made a mistake or slipped on some of our training. He explained dog relationships in NORMAL language for me and instead of loading my dog with treats or harsh corrections - he taught me how to communicate with my dog and build trust in VERY simple ways. I highly recommend connecting with Brandon to learn more about his approach.
