Fortunately, I thought better of that, and called ASAP. They're true to their name: they could have come out the day I called them. When I asked for a ballpark cost, the man I spoke to told me that the most economical solution for me would be if I bought the motor, and they installed it. And here I was bracing myself for their upcharge on the hardware. Impressive. I scheduled the appointment for the next day and picked up the motor at Home Depot. Alan, the technician, was excellent. He called before coming over, and he was done in about an hour. He also gave me advice on the 25-year-old door, making it clear that he wasn't trying to sell me a door. The charge was $283, which was a little less than I expected (the man on the phone told me it would be $275 plus tax). Highly recommended.

Garage door cables jumped off both spools . Called - got a same day appointment - even though I…read moresaid this was not urgent, I don't regularly use garage. Guy calls says he is going to be late, i get it stuff happens. I had opened the door, he looks at my opener and says he can't service because it s a commercial opener ( the chain had jumped the sprockets also). It is a Liftmaster - sold for residential use nothing that special. But I say okay just restring the cables. He says $450. I say NO. Ridiculous. I had hand surgery which is why I called for service in the first place but took my time and had the cables re spooled, and the tension set, and the opener chain back on and adjusted in an hour and a half. Never paid more than $200 in the past to have cables rewound and door trued. Maybe this is COVID prices/
