Do not use! Took 6 times to complete a 1 day garage installation. Extremely disappointing experience! I would absolutely not recommend this company based on my experience. What should have been a simple garage door job turned into a ridiculous number of problems, return visits, and time I had to take away from work. First, they tore down my weather stripping even though they were NOT supposed to touch it. While doing that, they scratched up the aluminum around my garage door. They then had to come back to replace the weather stripping and repair the aluminum they damaged. When they replaced the aluminum, they installed the WRONG COLOR, so I had to schedule ANOTHER appointment for them to come back and fix their mistake. Then the garage door started making noises, came off the track, and almost fell. Yet again, I had to arrange another service call to have them come out and fix it. As if all of that wasn't frustrating enough, they also completely NO-SHOWED for one of my scheduled appointments. I rearranged my schedule and made myself repeatedly available for appointments--all of which were only necessary because of their own mistakes. After all of these issues, I asked for a reasonable adjustment to my bill. Considering the damage they caused, incorrect repairs, repeated service calls, no-show, and the amount of my time that was wasted, I don't think that was an unreasonable request. Instead, I was extremely disappointed with their response and lack of accountability. One mistake is understandable. This wasn't one mistake. It was problem after problem after problem. When you hire and pay a professional company, you shouldn't have to repeatedly take time off work so they can come back and correct damage or mistakes from previous visits. I gave them multiple opportunities to make things right and I was extremely kind and patient throughout it all. Unfortunately, based on the workmanship, inconvenience, and way my concerns were handled afterward, I cannot recommend this company. read more

My experience with Proper Garage Doors has been wonderful. A few weeks ago I opened the garage door from inside my vehicle and heard a crunching sound. One of the rollers popped off and the door came off the track. I couldn't get it to close. The bottom section was also crinkled. After doing a little research I called Proper. Their receptionist, Jayla was very helpful and understanding. It was late in the day so I was extremely grateful when she told me they could send the technicians over. When Doug and Kyler showed up it was a huge relief. They were able to get the door closed but we knew that the old door would need replacing. It was a no brainer that we would choose them to relace the old beat up door. The quote for the replacement was surprisingly, very reasonable. Two weeks later Kyler and Doug came back for the installation. They worked fast, and cleaned up everything. They even took the dead spiders that were stuck on the old door (no extra charge) XD. Updated as of March 17, 2026 After giving this company the opportunity to address my concerns, I was left more disappointed by the response than the original experience. The wall button failed after only one year. While this was acknowledged, it was attributed to the manufacturer(defective button), and no replacement or meaningful resolution was offered. That approach made it unclear what accountability customers can expect when a product fails so quickly. The response primarily addressed communication issues, but did not meaningfully address the other concerns. It also emphasized that the garage door is now operational, which, while expected, does not reflect the overall experience. There were multiple scheduling issues, poor communication, an unreturned call, an unclear diagnostic charge, and a two-week delay in receiving a receipt after I requested it. It was also not addressed that at no point--either during installation or the recent service--was an extended warranty offered or discussed, which would have been important given the circumstances. Getting it working is the baseline--how issues are handled is what matters most. Original posted March 4, 2026 Our garage door button stopped working EXACTLY one year after installation. Our original button(when we moved in our house)lasted over 10 years -- this replacement barely lasted one year. Scheduling was a headache with multiple missed or shifted appointment windows. When the technician finally arrived, no diagnostic work was done, yet we were charged money for that service-- which we were later informed by staff that we shouldn't have been charged. After more calls and follow-ups, the owner eventually came out himself and replaced the button. The door now works, but communication about charges and refunds was unclear, and I had to request a receipt. What went well: * Owner eventually came out * Issue was fixed * Staff is polite and cordial * The button failed after only one year, indicating poor product quality * Multiple scheduling issues * Improper charge for diagnostic services * Poor communication and unclear warranty terms * An extended warranty was not offered or discussed at the time of installation last year, nor was one offered during service this year * I left a message on Saturday, 2/14/26, and my call was not returned * A receipt was not provided at the time services were rendered; I had to request one and did not receive it until two weeks later read more

It was 8 o'clock at night and I went out to get the garbage cans when the spring on the garage door snapped. I called the original installer of the door and of course got an answering machine. I left a message and called a friend for help the next day. They told me about Proper Garage Doors and said they were very good to them. So I called and Chris, the owner, answered the phone himself. After trying to negotiate a time for the next day and mentioning my wife is in the hospital. Chris said I can come out tonight for a small after hours charge, a very reasonable $50. From the time I called to the time, Chris left was less than an hour and a half. In today's world where can you get that kind of experience. Additionally, upon arrival Chris reviewed with me before he started the things he would be looking at and what what the cost might be. I figured I'd be paying for all of them, but when he was done, Chris said the other parts were fine and he didn't see a need to change them. Excellent professional service. Chris responded quickly and efficiently. He recommended that I get a new door as it is 18 years old and used constantly but there was no pressure. He helped brace my garage door to extend its life possibly a couple more years, which helps me a lot financially right now. (Prices have sky rocketed as we all know). Proper Garage Doors responded promptly , and could have been out the next day, but we were both tied up at work all day so we scheduled for Wednesday. One of my springs broke on my garage door and I called Proper Garage Door to see if they could replace both springs. I talked to Chris and he said that he could come over to my house in an hour and he quoted me a price that was fair to me. Chris arrived as planned looked at my door and confirmed the price quoted on the phone. I told him to take care of it. He was all done in about a half hour and everything works perfect. Our garage door cable on one side broke due to age and corrosion, and our door was stuck halfway open and inoperable. I called and spoke with the owner, Chris, who was already on his way to another repair in our subdivision. When I told him what happened he was able to provide a quote and set up an appointment for house call. So, in about 12 minutes after I called, Chris arrived in the driveway ready to fix the issue. He had the parts, tools and knowledge to restore our garage door to full functioning and also inspected the second door for condition, and sprayed all the moving parts with the proper lubricant.
