Lakeside heating did not follow through with their contract to install a boiler that they stated they would install in my home. When the installation crew arrived they did all they could do to avoid doing the work. The crew leader took the position that I did not choose the "right" equipment for my home and that I would need to excavate part of my yard and dig out the crawl space in order to install the equipment that the owner and sales person had instructed them to perform. It was obvious to me that the scope of the work was too complicated for the installers to perform and they needed to find a reason not to do the work, so they blamed me the homeowner for their lack of knowledge as the equipment was available to manage all of their complaints but they were not interested in trying to problem solve the situation but were interested in not doing the work they had agreed to install at a very high price which I had agreed to initially. Lastly I as the homeowner I was not consulted regarding their decision to refuse to do the work they had agreed to perform, the problem was that the installers were not capable of reading the manufacturers installation instructions which contradicted their decision and the parts were available to facilitate the installation. Overall Lakeside wasted over a week of my time while we had no heat!!! I found a competent company in Aaark Companies and they did a great job with courteous employees and professional communications and problem solving that included me the homeowner and customer. I probably need to state the house was a rental with the tenant freezing while this was all transpiring. I installed the least expensive solution rather than have the tan ant freeze! read more

Everything went very smoothly from the first appointment with Tony, the install itself, the financing, and finally, today the city came out and inspected the job. We had our AC system installed in 2011. At the end of 2013 summer our air conditioner worked poorly and had to run a long time to get the house cool. At the start of the 2014 summer our AC no longer cooled the air. We originally called Lakeside to come out and fix our AC, but didn't have availability until late the next week, so we called Applewood who could get out sooner. Applewood found that the system had been installed poorly using a freeze stat, which should only be used when everything else fails. This caused premature freezing of the pipe and likely caused leaks inside of the house. The Goodman unit that was installed had valve leaks and the outside solder joints had minor leaks. The major area of concern is how little coolant was in the system, from the point of view of the repairman he believed the system had too low of coolant when it was first installed. The major cost of the repair was in replacing the coolant as the leaks were easy to fix ($1000). The install likely didn't put the recommend coolant in (to cut cost), which in the end we are told causes your AC to run more, run up your electric bill and burnout your AC unit sooner. When I reached out to Lakeside to see if they would help offset the cost of the coolant and repairs, they explained that the system passed its inspection when installed and it wasn't their fault. We are very disappointed with Lakeside and their lack of responsibility for a poor install. We were impressed with their bid and when we thought they install the AC properly. I likely wrote them a rave review 3 years ago, but that was before we had a 3rd party tell us how poorly the system was installed. This was a very costly mistake, I'd hate for anyone else to get fooled like we were. There is absolutely no reason a properly installed AC unit should have multiple leaks less than 3 years after install. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH LAKESIDE HEATING. The BBB did NOT find in favor of Lakeside, that is an outright lie. I just stumbled across that comment. read more

Would not recommend doing business with this company! I had requested a quote from them to install an evaporative cooler at my home, the rep Bill came out and spent an hour walking the site taking photos even. After getting proposals from other companies it looked like they were going to be the best fit and oh how I was wrong. I signed the proposal and scheduled out the install for their first available, two weeks. Waited two weeks, took the day off work and the day of the install the technicians said that they would not do the job because the roof was too steep. After spending an hour with one of their guys two weeks earlier, having a signed contract with them and they canceled the job, how unprofessional can a company possible be, who knows what else they would walk away on? I would recommend staying clear and looking elsewhere. In response to theirs, they did not offer any compensation for me taking the day off work. So now we can also say they like to bend the truth. read more

STOP!! BEWARE!!! I believe these people are dishonest!!!!! I was out of town in Ct and this company was asked to do a HVAC inspection. I was told that my 15yr old furnace had a cracked heat ex-changer, and that it was leaking CO all over the house, and it must be replaced. They never offered any shred of evidence, no video, no pics of an instrument...nothing. I was immediately suspicious. I decided to do my own match test and was pleased to find it passed. I then hired a different company who inspected it thoroughly, to which I witnessed this time, and noticed zero cleaning or inspecting fingerprints were on the equipment from the previous Lakeside tech, as if not a single panel had ever been removed. As you might imagine, the furnace and AC passed inspection easily. Having another company inspect my equipment saved me a quoted cost of $4200 by Lakeside. Our A/C unit was not cooling properly, we called Lakeside and the sent a technician (Tony) out the same day. He found that our coil was leaking. He recommended two options; replace the coil or get a new A/C system. He provided us with the pros and cons of each, also explaining Excel Energy rebates available on the new unit. We decided on the new unit and they scheduled installation for the following week. Tony annd his assistant Derek installed the unit quickly and efficiently. Tony explained the advantages of the unit and instructed us in the operation of the new thermostat. Both men were very professional. Be prepared to pay above market for their services. They charge $95.95 just to show up. That amount will not be credited against work they perform. They tried to charge $249 above their $95.95 trip charge just to re-wire my thermostat. It should take one hour to do that work. A very good certified electrician should not charge you more than $100/hour. They're a rip off and they know it so they get their payment before leaving the house. My wife asked if she could mail in a check and was told payment must be made on the spot. We're out $95.95 and have to find a more reasonable electrician to do the work. read more

Tony came out to do an estimate for my HVAC and reworking duct work. This is an interesting job as my house was originally built with solar which is now inactive. Tony was very thorough and spent about 30 minutes looking at the job. He then turned to me and said "honestly this is too big of a job for our company (they would need to tear ceilings out) and they don't have enough crews to tie them up for a couple weeks on a single project. Although I'm sorry he was unable to help me, I appreciated the honesty, the explanations he gave of possible corrections and when asked referred me to another contractor who he thought would be a good fit. I wouldn't hesitate having Lakeside work on my house. read more

Stay away. Lakeside charged us $430 to fix our air conditioning after it stopped working. But it only worked for a week. When we called them about it, they were going to charge us $130 just to come back out and take a look at it. Buyer beware. After consulting two different air conditioning companies I decided to go with Lakeside Heating and Air to install my new AC unit. My house previously did not have AC. I got the estimate from Tony and he was great. The installers who came to my house were professional and great as well. I had had a great experience so far. Although, when my AC unit cooled my house unevenly and the temperature was erratic I found the company to be less than helpful. After spending almost $4,000 on the unit I was wrong in assuming they would send somebody out to check my problem. After speaking with Bill I was told that houses are different and they heat differently due to a variety of things, possibly my ductwork was insufficient. Maybe if I already had AC installed in my home then that would be a valid point. But these potential problems were not pointed out to me (house could heat evenly due to ductwork or erratic temperatures due to a skylight pointing at my thermostat) when the initial estimate was performed or during the install. Bill said that they only warranty the unit and if it was not the unit I would incur a $92 trip charge. It sounds like they don't warranty their install or the estimate. He couldn't have cared less that my house did not heat evenly. I'm very disappointed with Lakeside, due to this recent interaction. Service and follow up say a lot about a company. The company that gave the second estimate quoted me a larger AC unit, maybe that is the company I should have went with.... read more

I needed an old swamp cooler replaced. I got 5 bids from 5 different companies. Not only did Lakeside have a great price, but they were the easiest and best to work with. Bill came out to my house, was friendly, knowledgeable and kind. He talked about it being a family run business and I like that. He gave me brochures, and numbers, and options, and an excel rebate form. While I got other bids, I had trouble getting calls back or emails from other companies. I had to often chase down the bid! Lakeside answered any and all of my questions immediately (and I had a lot of them), and they gave me the bid, on their visit, so I wasn't waiting around for it. We called them on a Sunday (expecting to leave a message) and were able to speak with one of the owners (Bill) and schedule a free estimate visit the time we called. Lakeside's prices are very reasonable, and there were several furnace options we could chose from. They do not nickel and dime you - removing the old furnace and the city permit are included in the cost they give you up front. They also back everything up with a one year service guarantee. When the installers came they were very professional and even asked for a broom to sweep up after themselves when they were done. They were also great about showing me how the new furnace and humidfier worked, how to change the filters, and filled out all the paperwork for our tax rebate making it really easy for us. I secured 5 quotes for a new high-efficiency furnace for our 23-year old home in Lakewood. We still had the original 80% efficient furnace with a pilot light that gave us problems for over 20 years. Lakeside Heating was about $200 more than the lowest bidder, but I chose them because of their established history as a family-owned business and their knowledge of current furnace models and installation requirements, which are special for the 90%+ efficient furnaces. In my career as a project manager I built several ultra energy-efficient buildings, so I did a lot of research on the current models available for home heating equipment. I also wanted to make sure there were no surprises during the installation. Tony was very patient with my questions and gave me some revised quotes until I settled on a 97.2% efficient Carrier furnace. From the initial conversation with Holly to the estimate with Bill and the install everything was just the way you would want it to be. The technicians were clean, very respectful, and detailed orientated. I was shocked when the first they did was put tarps down on the carpet and wore shoe booties. You don't find that kind of respect in this type of industry. All appointments where kept right on time and all schedules were maintained. I dealt with the owners and I believe this is common.
