This is the first time going to Lakeside since it changed hands. We had heard negative things but today we decided to try it and make our own decisions. EXCELLANT!!! Dee was our server & he was great. The ayce fish was amazing much better than the previous owners. Lightly breaded and thick pieces. Fries were very hot & fresh. You got a side (fries) and soup or salad. My husband said it was the best fish he's had in a very very long time. I had the wet burrito which is one of the items I ordered when we went there frequently. It was better than before! The meat wasn't mushy and it was very flavorful not bland. I loved it and my husband tried it and said he's not crazy about burritos but thought this was very very good. We normally do not give 5's but Lakeside deserved it. We brought 4 friends to eat yesterday. We were informed that the new owners had stopped selling Prime Rib so we ordered the 14 oz strip, medium rare. Every steak was tough, chewy and missed the mark by miles. We asked for the "loaded potatoes" and were told they had NO sour cream. Who is ordering the inventory? I can assure you it's not an owner who cares! We will not be back! Sadly, Lakeside Social has suffered under new management! Shame on them! read more

Service was slow and we never got our drink until our meal was half over. So we went to bar and ordered. We went because the past owner had great service and food. We went for AYCE fish, except we never got another order of fish. They forgot my wife salad dressing, or my tartar sauce except when i ask for 2nd time. We had a great time here. The food was delicious. We were really pleased to see all of the new updates. I was surprised by some of negative comments. This place has been in this community for years and now the new ownerships is finally making upgrades and making it more welcoming. I only wish the mini-golf was open already after being closed for so many years, but we will be coming back. read more

We have been a regular of Lakeside and last night a Big Big disappointment. We always go for the all you can eat Fish and Shrimp on Fridays, normally, and just a short time ago at 17.95 which was already just increased, but still worth it for all you can eat. First serving was 2 small pieces of the fish and no shrimp. Waiter said some one took his order of shrimp.... Waited another 20 minutes for 6 shrimp. Made a second request, timespan by this time our guests we were with were already done with their food!!! Nothing like before!! And.... Found on the bill that the all you can eat fish and shrimp was now $23.95!!!! A 6 Dollar increase without notice. Portions were awful! Sooooooooo disappointed in The new owners of Lakeside! My wings, 8 pieces were good but put in a cup that was in a cup soup dish with nothing else not even a piece of lettuce for 13.00 dollars. Talk about poor presentation! Water had no ice. Pitcher did, but not in the glass. My other guest had a BLT with 4 pieces of bacon on burnt toast with handful of sick looking fries! Will probably never go back! We would go regularly, sometimes times twice in a week for years with Jackie and Jared. So sad!!!! read more

Had dinner and bowled with our grandson & friends. Drinks were reasonable. Service was friendly, attentive and expedient.

Waited about 15 minutes for someone to come to the desk to rent lanes (The employee was outside smoking a cigarette). By the time he returne, there was a line. Most of the balls were still on lanes. The restaurant is good, but the bowling are was poorly managed. read more

Hidden Gem! This is where the locals go when we want a great meal! And the prices are reasonable. My friends and I go there often. Favorite: Prime Rib - my Chicago friends were wowed by the tenderness and taste - it's the Saturday special. My favorite: the fried shrimp basket - as good as any I have had at those shrimp shacks in Chicago. And please try their seafood chowder. The BEST! I want that recipe! read more

This used to be the best kept secret in South Haven. Our experience repeatedly last year was it left lots to be desired. We went again tonight with high hopes after a friend at the Marina said Dan was running it again and it was good. Yet again tonight, it was terrible. Should be referred to as the toilet of South Haven. Poor service. Bland food. Extensive wait times. (I should note business picked up, but after we arrived AND had ordered) We waited a ridiculous amount of time for barely lukewarm seafood chowder. But better than the wait for our dinner which was roughly an hour. Our food was gone before we got a refill on our water. Prob bc our server was avoiding eye contact after being rude when hubby asked for another order be placed upon arrival of the first... My server's attitude was off the charts. Karol-you are in the wrong line of work! We are done giving second and third and fourth chances to a restaurant we once HIGHLY recommended and loved that clearly isn't what it used to be. read more

Shocking to think you get great good in a bowling alley but it is true. I recommend it to all visitors and new people. Nightly specials cannot be beat! Good hours! Staff works hard! Having heard excellent comments about lunches at Lakeside 2 friends and I decided to give it a try on a recent Friday lunch. I had to try a cup of the Seafood Chowder and it was delicious. Definitely will order it in the future. All of us ordered salads. Each of the salads came with generous portions and as much toppings as lettuce. Plus the lettuce all looked good. (Too often I am horrified by what I call slimy bad bits of lettuce dumped directly out of the bag. Does no one check?) I would also add the main dining room is rather small but was full of groups on their lunch break. All in all it was a pleasant experience and plan to go back soon to check out the prime rib special on Saturday night! read more

Worst Sever Ever! If a smiling bubbly blonde bartender/waitress named Maria is your server...RUN! As big as her smile is, so is the chip on her shoulder and her rudeness level. My husband and I are locals, and have never been here before, strike one on us. She only spends time with the guests she knows. Second strike, we had the odasity to ask her for things when she kept trying to ignor us. That's when she yelled at me telling me she was doing the best she could...as she was standing at the table next to us shooting the small talk breeze about their family...as our arms and eyes have been trying for several minutes to get her attention. The next encounter was her telling me I was rude, and that we were Lucky she was even waiting on us, as alot of restaurant workers weren't coming back to jobs. When my husband couldn't get another Pepsi from her and I again had to interrupt her small talk with the table next to us, (as I was facing her and my husband had his back to her.) She brought me a drink instead of my husband's Pepsi. As I corrected her on it, she told me she was done with us, dropped the check on the table, and left. Well, Dan, the manager on duty was going to come talk with us but he never did. We were so disappointed as we were excited about a new spot to us that the locals hung out...we were kind, not rude, and older couple with years of restaurant experience, just trying to get the two things we asked for...such a sad situation! read more

We love going here but wish they would STOP making the servers wear gloves. Do they get new gloves after every customer interaction? No. But if they were bare handed they could apply sanitizer in between customer interactions. The blue gloves are a petrie dish of germs. read more

There were nine old ladies. Three of them were 87 yeas old. The other four were 85. All of them classmates from the Class of 1951. Getting a big reunion together after so many years of being out of school was getting more difficult all of the time. So they decided to meet once a month, year round at the same place and the same time. That way should work for everyone. We choose Lakeside because we had held reunions there before. A very nice young man was our waiter. We met in the banquet room We straggled in one or two at a time. Our nice waiter had a smile for everybody. Finally everyone was there and we placed our order. The food came, not only did it look delicious, it was delicious. Several of us had the cod basket. We had so much to talk about it took us a long time to eat. And then we had to visit. Our waiter was still smiling when we finally left about 1:30 or 2:00. It was a wonderful lunch and we will be doing it again. Just wanted you to know how much we enjoyed ourselves and we plan to come back. But, as I said in the beginning "There were nine old ladies. Three of them were 87. the other four were 85". It works! My boyfriend and I got 2 Bell's Oberon from the bar and hit the mini-golf course. While the course had obviously been neglected and sported torn "greens" it worked. We got two 20oz beers and played a round of mini-golf for under $20. We'll take it! read more

Towny! A little scarey way on the cheap! The lakeside provides bowling,mini golf,video games and a restaurant/bar, and lung cancer. Bf and I visited on a rainy day, there was nothing else to do so we headed over to lakeside for a game or two of bowling. There was a good amount of people bowling and having a good time. When we got a lane and shoes the man said $10 I thought he forgot something but he assured me the amount was correct.Come to find out it is $5 per person for 2 games and shoes!!! Are you kidding me? Sooo cheap I loves it! We bowled 4 games casue it was such a gosh damn good deal I had to play more! My hand was numb and could barely life the ball by the end of the 4th game. We had 4 drinks for $12! You serioulsy cant beat the prices here but you will def smell like smoke when you leave:( read more

Compared to city bowling lanes, this place has a long way to go. But for south haven it's a fun rainy day activity. The prices are cheap. Good ball selection. Lanes are not slick enough and hard to get good form. Food is blah. Music is all over the board but at least they have it. Guy at front desk was pretty rude. read more

We chose a table & a wait staff person said she'd clean it & proceeded to spray what they later informed us was Lysol & we were overwhelmed for the next approx 50min. w/smell that didnt go away when the product dried. When the booth next to us was sprayed excessively while we were eating again we were overwhelmed along w/a family by us whose child coughed for 30 seconds or so. We (3) said something to our waitress who'd sprayed that table at least 6 times instead of once on her rag or paper towel & she laughed & called me "dear". I asked her to please send the manager out & we complained & she acknowledged the chemical stink & apologized. Only after that did our waitress write on our bills an apology for the overwhelming chemical funk which she'd laughed at before, very obviously only because we asked for the manager. We'd shown this waitress respect & thanked her numerous times for her service. We dont care about ones age, income, etc. When she laughed in what I took as disregard because of my age (& evidently being foolish because of it) plus her calling me "dear" I was pissed. I'm 56 fukin years old. I didnt treat her different because she's a dumb, hillbilly redneck. I guess my being 56 & physically sickened by cancer causing chemicals while people breathe & eat are ridiculous to her. read more

We have made bowling on half-price pizza a part of our SH vacation traditions. The building isn't much to talk about on the outside. The dinning room is dated. the bowling alleys are well maintained. The pizza is very good. I'm not sure about the rest of the food items. Bowling and pizza are moderately priced. The staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

Food is good. Very good pizza. All you can eat fish or shrimp every Friday. Very reasonable prices. No smoking allowed any more, so that's a plus. Service can be really poor depending on what server is working...inconsistent. The bowling lanes are good. We went to Lakeside for a Thanksgiving buffet last year and it was the worst buffet I have ever seen. By the time we got there they had run out of certain dishes and didn't bring out more. By the time we finished our meal and wanted pumpkin pie they had run out of that too. Not very organized. They place looks nasty and run down. It should have some work done on it to bring it up to date. It looks like it belongs in the 60's. Will never go there again. read more

Best fish in town, but the service is very slow. Most of the waitresses are attentive, however, the kitchen staff are slow.
