The beer was good, the live music was good. Went on a Monday around 5:30 PM, and they had happy hour 4 to 6. There were probably six other people outside, listening to music, it was our first time here. Went up to the bar to get two drinks to make it easier for the bartender, the only bartender or server who was there. Me and my wife gave her our IDs (we are both 29) and she said 'oh those look believable'. Then we sat down and listen to music and went up for another beer probably 15 minutes later before happy hour ended. She rudely said to my wife 'it's gonna be a little while till I can get to you', mind you there are still only six people here. She also demanded to see her ID again and by that point happy hour was over. Then I went up and cashed out and she charged me full price and not the happy hour price and did not say sorry and was very rude about it. She said it's cause she doesn't normally work on Mondays. These old gas stations can make nice conversions to outdoor dining. This is one of those good conversions. The kitchen is slow to get out orders on a late afternoon when about 2/3 full. My barbacoa tacos are mini-tacos @$18 for 3. But I am full enough. If they had a lake view that would be one thing, but c'mon. I see why they are under 4 stars. Good bones and staff took time to ask for feedback. However, I felt like something was missing from my tacos, and I should have asked for a menu. Instead, I asked my server and she assured me, no it's just meat and pickled onions. Actually, it's not. It's supposed to come with mango salsa, which was not provided. Part of being a good server is checking the order when it comes out of the kitchen. That was a fail. Make hay while the sun shines but within reason. read more

Fantastic experience, came here with my boyfriend and our kids. We had the salmon special, beef tacos and the kids got pasta. Everything tasted great, we shared everything and ate it all! Loved the atmosphere, they have a spacious outdoor patio with kids games and chalk. Our server Xavier was friendly, courteous and prompt. He even brought out popsicles for the kiddos. This place is TERRIBLE. We ate there on 6/8/26 and their garage doors were open and they did not have enough fans, so it was very warm and humid. I can forgive them for that, but the water dripping from the ceiling was unique, perhaps a feature to cool things off? The kicker was the Shrimp and Grits. I should have figured there was going to be a problem when the waitress asked if I wanted shrimp with my Shrimp and Grits. For $23.50 a small bowl arrived at the table. The grits were watery and bland and there were maybe 8 shrimp. On the way home I vowed never to return. After looking at my $97.45 bill this afternoon, we had NO alcohol, I saw that they charged me an extra $6 for shrimp for my Shrimp & Grits bring my meal to $29.50. You have been warned. read more

Returning to Michigan (my home state), we stopped in South Haven to see the quaint downtown and water/pier area. We decided to have dinner and found the New Park Gastropub. Love the outdoor atmosphere and weekend vibe. We started with the street corn which was pretty good. Also ordered were a mushroom burger, brisket sandwich, Cobb salad and the walleye. The Portabella burger was delicious, the fries were seasoned perfectly, and my wife's service dog LOVED the brisket. The brisket as a sandwich was on point, the Cobb salad got a quick thumbs up even tho it came with tomatoes. The walleye was perfectly crispy, light and so good! The green beans were obviously fresh and the fingerling potatoes balanced the rest of the dish nicely. read more

We had to hunt down silverware because after asking, it never got to us. Our server was very nice, but not very attentive, and we had to ask twice, even three times at times to get extra napkins, sauces, water. The food was decent. Walked in with a huge group last night and they were very helpful in accommodating us all. It's on the corner and almost looks like a converted gas station. Outside patio has plenty of seating and games like giant Jenga for the kids (or adults). The atmosphere is very casual. We waited for a table by the bar for awhile- the bartender was great. Once seated we were greeted by Piper who did a great job the whole night. Everyone enjoyed the food. It was fresh and some of the apps were very tasty (loved the salsa and guacamole). The meals were pretty good. I really enjoyed the tortilla soup. My dad liked his fish tacos but thought they needed more flavor. The only meal that was a downer was the salad my sister ordered. It was missing ingredients listed on the menu. If we come back we'll probably stick to drinks and appetizers. Over all this is a great place to take the whole family (at least at 7pm). We stopped in yesterday in the afternoon as South Haven was ramping up for fireworks. South Haven was super busy. New Park is a converted gas station with tons of outdoor seating, and sits one block back from the main thoroughfare. They had cheerful umbrellas and lots of outdoor seating but did not welcome a dog. Sad! (The hostess told us the whole city didn't welcome dogs which was untrue because we later found a place that accommodated dogs perfectly. -1) We were with friends who had the dog so they moved on and we stayed. There were lots of empty tables but a 40 min wait so we ended up at the bar. Starving. The food was good but it was 30 min wait which felt like a lifetime. The staff was friendly and attentive. The guy next to us had two extremely burnt burgers. (What in the world was going on in the kitchen?) So. If you don't have a dog and you have endless time, the ambiance is nice. Take a snack and enjoy the Cobb Salad or the Portobello on Ciabatta. Ciao! read more

The wait was long, but worth it. This reclaimed space from an old gas station is clean and fresh with plenty of outdoor eating space. We stated with a Marg Madness--basically a flight of four, 4oz margaritas. Each had a distinct and unique, interesting flavor profile. Non were amazing, but it was a solid, fun choice to try. We apped on the onion chips and cheese curds...excellent and perfect mild/sweet chili sauce. Definitely our best choice. The barbacoa tacos were very very good. The pickeled red onion was the star and blended beautiful with the fresh cubed mango. The twin grilled pork chops were good. The berry sauce was a great variation. The simple baby potatoes needed a few more minutes boiling, but were well seasoned. Service was good and friendly. The hostess was outstanding. The tunes were great. We finally got a chance to visit this last time we were in town. I love the patio, they also have an awesome kids area with chalk and bubbles, which is so nice when we are waiting for food. The indoors is very small, but we actually ate inside the following day for lunch and it was good. There is a larger (but not large) bar area with high top seating as well. The outdoors is the place to be though! We thought all the food was good and the drinks were great! We had a brisket sandwich and an awesome green goddess salad. It was huge and was a nice healthier option. The drinks were also great! I had a seasonal one that was so pretty. Great views and and the patio is amazing! Will be so nice in the summer! For an Old California boy like me, South Haven, Michigan has the best beaches I've seen outside of Malibu / Zuma / Laguna beach. It is so beautiful here, all it's missing is the smell of salt water. That being said, we found ourselves at the New Park Gastropub a few blocks from our beach this day, and we were ready for lunch. The arrangement here is totally outside dining. I will assume in the winter time that must change to a tent, but it's August now and that's all that matters. Their beer and ale list was very impressive. We all chose different libations and mine was lovely crisp Founders All Day IPA that hit the spot on this warm afternoon. I ordered a BBQ Brisket Smokehouse Sammie (what they call a sandwich) on a brioche bun and white BBQ sauce. It came with a very nice small salad with balsamic dressing. I really enjoyed my lunch. My wife had a Beet and Arugula Salad with chicken, and my son and his girlfriend had the Coconut Curry Shrimp Tacos. We all enjoyed our lunch very much and the environment these nice people put in play really put a nice touch to this meal. When we come back to South Haven, New Park will definitely be on our "return" list! read more

We stopped in for a quick bite to get away from all of the commotion on Phoenix street during blueberry festival. It looked fun, awesome drink menu with lots of choices, great signage on the specials and in an old gas station. It was a bit touch and go at first. The two hostesses just sat there when we asked up and asked us if we want to eat in or out. We said, out but if covered by one of the umbrellas. One girl literally pointed to a high top and said we could sit there. Too bad it was in the sun which we said we didn't want. So, they looked at each other like, ummm what do we do now? There was a table behind them that fit the bill but needed to be bussed and it took them a minute or two to make the connection. After that odd experience we were seated, had a great meal (og margarita, pulled pork Sammie and the tortilla soup). Service was quick and we enjoyed our lunch. They have outdoor things to do like ring toss, and a kids area. Overall we would go back! Hope they can figure out the hostess situation and maybe next time they can actually stand up and great guests rather than pointing them to a table which doesn't fit our request. read more

We stopped in to grab a cold one and relax a little this afternoon after the hot farmers market and car show. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly upon walking in. If I can make better food at home with my sub-par culinary ability then that's a big problem for a restaurant. Wanted to eat well so got a salad with rubbery peapods & soggy roasted broccoli that each seemed to come from grocery store heat-in-bag type stuff that already expired, dumped on top of basic bagged iceberg lettuce. Quinoa & seeds were at least unoffensive but the dish as a whole was absolutely flavorless, no seasoning, nothing attempted. Terrible. My wife got the saddest soggy microwave cauliflower tacos with some avocado slices that seemed to come out of a diner's display case a few days ago. The texture was almost as if it was a fake avocado. Overall it was like if the actual chef called out & his 10 year old son was brought in to make the food. The server didn't seem to care much at all that we were wildly unimpressed & ate essentially none of it, which was also kind of disappointing. Service rather weak. Wasted money. Our only recourse is to warn others with this Yelp review. Certainly will not be back! Any option is better. Was gonna give it two stars saying at least I wasn't robbed while I was there but I essentially was. One star- they did have chairs & a table and did let us pay with a credit card, so they're at least all set up to pretend to be a restaurant. read more

Very disappointed with our experience here. Our server seemed like she really didn't care and didn't want to be there. I had asked for ketchup and she forgot it, our friend's meal came out cold and she preceded to set it down on a table and take another order rather than getting the problem fixed right away. After a long and fun day at South Beach my family and I (along with two other families) were looking for a place to dine in South Haven. It was a sunny Saturday evening so we knew that it might be tough to get a table for all 12 of us in the bustling beach town. We sauntered up to New Park Gastropub and it looked like a potentially lively and fun location. The other dad and I wanted to inquire about a table for all twelve OR two tables of six OR whatever they had available (we had six adults and six kiddos). The two hostesses at the greeter station took 3 to 4 minutes to acknowledge our presence, and when they finally turned their attention it was clear they seemed annoyed. Even though we counted EIGHT (or more) 8-tops available they told us it would be a 30 minute wait for a table (mind you, it was 88* at the time) with limited shade. Initially, I commented that maybe they were understaffed but after a glancing observation, they had plenty of servers to cover not only the tables that were filled, but the tables that were empty. It just seemed like everyone was moving without any sense of hustle, service, or urgency. Heck, they had four hostesses (who by the way were in their phones while patrons were waiting to be helped). The fellow dad and I decided to go to the bar to get waters for our party while we waited and order an appetizer. While at the bar we were greeted by what could possibly be the slowest and least friendly or attentive barman I've ever experienced in my life. At one point we were made aware that the owner also made her way out to the bar area. She neither acknowledged our presence nor seemed interested in any of the patrons at the bar. When my wife came to the bar, neither the barman nor the owner paid any attention to her... Did not ask her if she needed a drink or a menu or anything despite it being close to 90* out. I could sense that there were other clientele in the same boat. It took several attempts to get the attention of the barman despite there being only three or four other people at the bar. We finally got a table, and the waiter was decently attentive, but our waters remained unfilled. He never asked if any of the adults wanted a beverage (we each would've ordered 1-2 beverages). I typically have a lot of patience for wait staff and bartenders as I have worked in the hospitality industry and my father owned a restaurant, but this place set a new low for service and for hospitality. Anyone going to South Haven that I know will be specifically regaled with this story. The sad part is I root for local businesses like this. This place with this location should be printing money, and should be "hopping" so to speak. Had the hostess greeted us with a smile, had the barman been just had a bit more courtesy and hustle, and had the owner showed a sliver of interest in our large group I would be giving an adequate rating and I would be glad to spread the word about their Gastropub. The only redeeming quality is that their food was indeed very good. read more
