I brought my vehicle here for a minor thing. The mechanic came out, repaired it in two mins and didn't even charge me. A week later i had a separate issue, more major. Dropped it off, within a couple of hours I got a call back and the gentleman told me exactly what was wrong and how much it would cost. Very reasonable. He told me it would be ready the next day. Sure enough my vehicle was ready before noon. Check out was quick and easy and they went over the work done and answered my questions. What blew me away was they washed my car and did the small touches like air freshener. The next day I got a phone call from them just to make sure everything was running right. Amazing. It feels awesome because now i have a mechanic I can trust and will take care of my vehicle right. Do the right thing and make an appointment and you will be good to go. read more

I had my daughter bring her Honda civic to mikes, she is starting a new job and wanted to make su the car was serviced PROPERLY. we had spark plugs changed, oil and tire rotation along with belts and fluids checked.as always they did a great job at an EXTREMELY FAIR PRICE. I never leave reviews but you can never go wrong here. I also wanted to add my daughter just moved to New Jersey...... Update: Mike & his team reached out to address my issues and concern. The woman I spoke with, offered apology and understanding. It sounds like they were just busy and normally ask permission prior to doing work on the vehicle. Mike and his staff were very cordial. Their office has plenty of seating for customers. It's a busy place with clients coming and going. Lots of business here. A friend had recommended it to me and has been going for many years. I was there for an oil change and was in and out with a smile on my face. I got home and was sharing my experience with my family. My brother checked my bill and was surprised I was charged $20 for the change of a lightbulb. He said those are only a few dollars and he could've done quickly. I couldn't recall being asked if the lightbulb should be changed or not. I realized I hadn't been asked. Mikes Auto had called a day or so after to ask how the car was running, I said great and brought up being charged $20 for the lightbulb and that I felt taken advantage of because I'm a woman. That both my brother and father knew that was a high price. The woman said Mike would definitely want to call me back. He never did. I followed up one more time with no call back and left it alone. I was referred to Mike's Mechanic Service years ago by a friend and have had them service all of our household vehicles (3 in all) and have never been disappointed with the services performed and friendly customer service at the service desk. I have always received a follow up call from them 1-2 days after picking up my car to inquire how the vehicle was running after the repair and if I was satisfied with the work performed. Rates are very reasonable, quality of work Excellant and courteous customer service is great. read more

I was told I had a broken transmission cost $1500 to $2869 to repair. I rented a car while my Brother looked for a better deal and found one. Called Mike the night before and left msg that brother Warner who owns Scott auto in Huntington picking up the car. No call back from Mike so I called back. His receptionist said off the bat " Are you gonna do it or not" ( meaning the transmission)I said no. Then everything changed. Know he thinks it the axle 5 days later. A whole lot of BS and explanation. Mike insisted on looking at car again. Mike was very Indecisive a lot of back and forth calls. So I had Warner call him and he told him don't touch the car. Mike said car was on lift already taken apart and they're at lunch back at 2pm. I made a surprise visit at 2:05pm funny car is done And parked. Mike was supposed to call my brother back. Mike said " I don't know what I'm going to do with your brother I was supposed to call him back " . I will tell my brother don't worry. He thought my brother was paying. When I told him I was paying he said "oh that changes everything"! Finally it was only a $271 axle. His receptionists with short dark hair is Rude, disregarding, obnoxious, COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! With her snarky comments and replies. I freakin love this place. He is a little bit pricey, but they do FANTASTIC work. Mike is a great guy, very nice, honest, and not the typical bullshitter that you'd usually find at a shop (All of the people here are nice). I've had my civic which I commute 100 miles/day with for 5 1/2 years, and 190,000 miles later.. it still runs great.. all thanks to mike and his employees. I would like nothing more than to come onto Yelp and deter people away from shady mechanics, but in this case I can't. After a few duds in Suffolk county I went with Mike's and couldn't be happier. I don't have much to say other than a few highlights: 1. Friendly service, both the desk lady and the mechanics. 2. Fair price and non bloated labor. 3. Solid work. 4. I've been contacted by another reviewer with some experience working on cars. He stated that the cost of spark plugs has gone up since they are now made from platinum and iridium and last longer. However, if you check amazon, the best rated spark plugs (which are made from platinum/iridium as stated above) are listed within the range I originally stated ($2-$8). If you buy in bulk, they do get significantly cheaper ($25 for 4). And these are retail prices! Regardless of the cost of the parts, what is most significant about my experience is the nasty voicemail I received in response to my review. As of today, this has not been rectified in anyway on the part of the business. read more

Let me start out by saying most times I leave a mechanics auto shop I feel like I had a quick one pulled over me. Not at Mikes, the service was great, and very professional. Not only did they not recommend needless services they actually fixed my tail light without me asking and without them charging. I had some serious repairs and not only that but tricky repairs, they nailed everything perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place. These guys know what they are doing. It is not cheap there, but then again do you want to pay for needless work, or have it done wrong? Very clean and professional shop. Our first time to Mike's and I'm very pleased. I've unfortunately had to deal with other garages where the mechanics won't listen to me, and I had to send my husband back (to say the exact same thing) to have them take a look. Very frustrating. I didn't feel the same way here. They were informative, showed me the problem, I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. They are courteous and polite.The woman at the front is also very nice. I had an issue with my security system in my car it's an older car I'm a single mom on a very tight fixed income I've never had any issues with the place before , I had asked the mechanic if he could give me an estimate with what he may feel the problem would be , I had to have my car towed the driver of the company asked about my car and told me straight up by what I told him my car was doing that it was my security system . The mechanic at this shop however basically yelled at me tell I me he can't wave a magic wand lady to see what's wrong with your car .... I was beside myself and I no longer am I costumer of this establishment . I also found it funny how a towe truck driver told me exactly what was wrong with my car just by listening to me meanwhile the mechanic had no clue and wanted to charge me 600-1000 and up . read more

Very honest mechanics who know Honda's inside and out. Comfortable waiting room with good counter staff and good location close to the train station. Prompt service. Mike is a very smart mechanic, he will invite you into his garage to specifically explain problems also. They also clean your car and wash it for you most of the time free of charge. They've been kind in the past also with repairing some minor problems for free. They've also successfully carried out major repairs for me in reasonable time. Every diagnosis I've ever had to have them do was done correctly - and usually only a charge on major diagnoses. Cons: Pricier than other mechanics, like near dealer-level pricing. Pricey parts sometimes too. My biggest peeve is they charge $30+25 for Oil Change+Tire Rotation, meanwhile these services can easily be found for ~$25 total in 1/4 of the time at a lube shop, so plainly I can't recommend you go to them for the smaller things. There's no excuse for that really if you pay them hundreds of dollars a year as your main mechanic. 99% percent of the time the job is done right. But I have had to come back one or two times for a job that wasn't done right. read more

My son is a student at Stoneybrook, had car problems that were not easy to figure out. I live 5 hours away, a friend referred me to Mikes. Spoke with Bob, gathered all info and was very accommodating and professional. Had car towed, Mike called to updated me on what sounded like a nightmare. He had the car for almost a week to be sure after he repaired it did not reoccur. Cleaned the car inside! Mike, Bob and Fran were very good and very professional, highly recommend. I've had nothing but great experiences here. Mike and Bob are really honest guys. I've gone to them with my Honda and they've told me what repairs are necessary ASAP and which could hold off for awhile. If they're telling me that a $1200 repair can wait a bit, but that the $80 repair needs to be done right away, that screams integrity to me. Repairs are a tad pricey (otherwise I'd give it 5 stars lol) but it's worth it to me to have the peace of mind knowing that they're going to be up front and not take me for everything. read more

brought my truck in for check engine light. mechanic in the waiting room told me in 20 seconds that it was the 0xygen sensor. that was great. i get a call the next day that it took that same mechanic 2 hours*(at $95 per hr) to diagnose the problem he diagnosed in 20 seconds yesterday! when i mentioned this to the owner he told me that he, the mechanic, didn't know that it was the sensor until he spent 2 hours diagnosing. i have no problem paying for work that is fair, but i left there feeling that i was taken for a very expensive ride. i will never darken the doorstep of this establishment again. if you choose to go there then bring your platinum card cause you're gonna need it. read more
