Mark was courteous and professional. Took my car for brake service. He called me within an oír with a diagnostic and price. I also asked him for an oil change. The car was done within 3 hrs. Upon my arrival, he showed me the just how worn my brake pads were. Price was reasonable. Much better compared to dealer's service center. His lot is full of BMWs--that's his specialty, but he also services domestic and other foreign makes. Definitely recommend and definitely will be back for any future service repairs. read more

I wish I can give this place 0 Star. I called in for Brake and Lamp Inspection required by DMV for Salvage Title. I called 1 day before to book appointment, I already asked I have a broken lamp in the back due to the previous accident, but the bulb is still fine. He said that's fine just come in tmr at 11am, and tell the price. When I came in with my dad. He did not greet us, he didn't even look at us when he talks. He giving me commands like: "Drive your car here, you have broken light, FIX IT THEN BRING BACK HERE!" I did not even know what his name is because he did not even introduce himself. I told him why you said it's ok to bring in, if you let me know I have to change the lamp cover, I would not have to drive to you today. He asked if I know English to read the Salvage Title paper that only said: "Need Brake and Lamp Adjustment at any Licensed Station." It never says "Need to have lamp fix then go to adjust!" Then he started to cuss and said: "Get Lost!" This is B*shjt. Please Avoid at any cost. read more

Mark is hands-down the fairest and most knowledgeable BMW mechanic I've come across. When my dad needed some more serious work done on his M5, a colleague recommended Lakewood Auto Care. After seeing Mark's prices and the quality of his work, I've decided to take my BMW exclusively to him. My previous mechanic was located in Orange County, and charged what I believed at the time to be decent rates. When repair costs started adding up (every fix seemed to spring new problems or leaks), I started to question why multiple issues weren't being tackled at the same time. Repeatedly taking the same part of the engine apart on repeat visits meant that I was doubling up on labor costs. I was often diagnosing issues and positioning repairs before the shop was, and it was getting frustrating. Time to find a new mechanic. In my previous situation, I'd find myself turning to the forums when I felt the shop had failed me. Now it's the opposite. I can research a problem relentlessly--yet still come up empty-handed--but Mark will always have an answer. I've done a good amount of work on the car myself (brakes, radiator, starter motor, etc.), but I'll still take it to Mark for the little things because his prices are just so low. It's a shame that some people on here claim he's "disingenuous," since I've found Mark to be quite the opposite. It's funny that you'd review multiple auto shops poorly because you believe there's "no evidence" of them having performed an oil change. Learn to check a dipstick, or change the oil yourself if you're THAT suspicious of mechanics. It's really not that hard. Every time I go in to pick up my car, the total seems lower than what was quoted. Mark not only takes the time to break down each repair for you, but also finds clever ways of reusing parts which will save you money. His genuine enthusiasm for BMW's really shines through, and he'll take the time to "talk shop" if you're interested. I now live in West LA, but I will still make the drive down to have my car serviced at Lakewood Auto Care. When my brakes locked up a couple months ago, I even had it towed there. I visited Lakewood Auto Care because my Dad recommended Mark & said that it was AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility. He does excellent work at a reasonable price. Always very professional. I first came by to get my smog check and get it passed. He is very patient and knowledgeable. He had to replace vapor lines and a few hoses connected to the gas tank & got it to pass smog check. I have a 2003 Ford Ranger and the transmission failed so I dropped in to meet Mark a second time and he replaced my transmission with a rebuilt. So I started bringing my truck in for oil changes, brake repair, radiator replacement, and to replace a power window button. I still take it in to see him regularly. He works on Pontiac G6's, BMW's, Fords, Chevy's he is a very good and honest mechanic. They are open Monday - Friday 8am-5pm one day I was stuck in traffic he was there waiting for me after 5pm to pick up a vehicle. When I called he is very understanding. When I was living in Long Beach my neighbors and I took our cars from regular oil & brake changes to major service such as check engine light or water pump and timing belts to Mark at Lakewood Auto Care. Ever since I moved out of Long Beach I could not find a local shop to trust my car for service or an inspection. I felt they looked at the size of my pocket and not the nail in my tire. Now I drive 30 miles to Lakewood to get my BMW serviced and grab lunch with my old neighbors. I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee in after getting a 2K estimate from Cerritos Dodge in Cerritos for Air Conditioner going out and my Navigation quitting on me and stopping in LA. Mark looked at the Air and told me that I might need a new fuse and blower. He was right I came back a day latter and he put it in for me in just about an 30 minutes. He replaced the fuse and blower and now the truck works fine. He saved me $500.00 on my air conditioner problem and said why don't you reset your navigation by disconnecting your battery. I did and now my radio and Navigation is correct. He save me $900.00 on this issue. Mark is honest and a very good knowledgeable mechanic. I relied on AAA as the reference, plus it is located just a block away from my apartment. Went in for oil change ($44), which I can only assume was done (since no parts). Mark, the owner, brought the car out to me, and claimed it went dead as he parked it. Then he talked up possible repairs it might need for this problem. It all seemed suspicious, disingenuous, especially when I discovered that I also had a nail in my tire 10 minutes after I drove away . So now I had a flat to fix. How'd that nail get in my new tire? I have learned the hard way that I cannot find any local BMW repair shop in south Orange County that I can trust to diagnose a problem or do the job right the first time and for a fair price. That is why I have been driving over 50 miles to Lakewood Auto Care for the last 10 years to have my BMW's serviced and repaired. The proof is in the results: My '86 528e has over 260,000 miles and my '90 535i has 245,000 miles and I could take either car cross-country tomorrow and not worry about a thing. Mark keeps the cars performing top notch and ONLY services and repairs what's needed. His knowledge of bimmers is second to none. For me it's worth the inconvenience of the drive to know that my cars are well taken care of. Mark has even diagnosed my overheating problem by phone one winter on a return trip from Mammoth and talked me through replacing the thermostat myself. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BAD FIRST IMPRESSION! Unfortunately 1 star is the lowest rating. How can you use the word "Care" as part of your business name with the rudeness I just received without ever setting foot at this station? Due to the rude attitude I received over the phone when inquiring about a brake and lamp inspection, they lost a potential customer. When I asked how do I know they are state certified to perform this inspection the guy rudely said "I take your money and give you a certificate". Then I said OK....how do I know prior to any work being done that you are certified? They guy then said "because I'm telling you. It's simple". I said OK, thank you. I ended up calling another station called Santa Fe Garage who referred me to Westside Smog. Carlos made a very good first impression via phone unlike Lakewood Auto Care. Without asking he gave great detail to the process needed to perform the inspection. When asked about certification proof, he gladly stated that he has his licenses posted for customers to see as required by law. Westside Smog just gained a customer for their professionalism and their price is cheaper than Lakewood Auto Care. I you as a business can not conduct yourself in a professional friendly manner, then you are not worthy to receive my business or money. read more
