The many locally owned restaurants that surround it provide the perfect opportunity for a dinner and movie date night. Parking is ample and close. Inside you will find a fully stocked concession stand with typical movie snack fare and a handful of screens. Although the chairs are not updated to the recliners that many bigger theaters now have, they were still comfortable and added to the overall ambiance of the theatre. We love this theater and support filmsociety.org but as members we are disappointed that the offer of popcorn/soda that they have every year not only went up $10.00 but now they removed the drink. Last year the popcorn/soda combo that you could bring and refill was $25.00, this year is $35.00 but no soda. How about keeping the combo? Thanks. read more

We always love going here and seeing a good movie! We bought a bucket that you can use for a year on free refills!!! The people are always pleasant and helpful both at the check in and at the concession stand! The theaters are always clean and I love how they aren't super big! This small, nonprofit theatre is tucked in between two restaurants in a strip mall area. You could really miss it if you weren't paying attention. The small-town feel was charming. We got our tickets at the box office using a Groupon voucher for 2 movie tickets, 2 medium popcorn, 2 medium drinks & 2 candies. It was a great deal! The theatre was really clean; even the bathrooms. The concessions counter seemed to have too many workers and not enough organization, but they were all very nice and provided service with a smile. The seating wasn't as up to date as some theaters, but it was comfortable, and seats were not assigned. The sound was great, and the picture was perfectly adjusted, not too dark or too bright. read more

Lakewood Ranch Cinemas is a cozy little theater that offers some good movies to see. It's never very crowded the times we've been here, even for movies that have just opened. The seats are very comfy. They offer beer and wine as well as the usually movie theater snacks. Everything is reasonably priced. OK, so here comes my grumpy old man: The main reason I stopped going to the movies so often was that I found a number of loud disruptive folks in the theater. On their mobile phones and carrying on loudly with others. It just wasn't fun anymore. But, here in the Lakewood Ranch Cinemas it seems like all the movie goers silence their phones and keep the conversations to a quiet minimum. So, I'll continue to visit and enjoy LRC. read more

Pretty basic local movie theater which is nice to have around, it has not been taken over by another big company like AMC. It's a bit small yet useful, I believe it holds about 6-7 screens, no reclining seats unfortunately but comfortable enough. I purchased our tickets through Fandango but there's a few different websites as well as being able to purchase them in at the window which might be a bit cheaper since Fandango charges a service fee. They have a pretty good variety of options in their concession stand, popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, ice cream, lots of drinks including wine and beer. The bathrooms are clean however a little outdated but just like the theater it's probably due to how long it's been around which is fine. Some of the staff were wearing masks others weren't. The great thing about this theater is that is around many restaurants, plenty of parking and they even have a mini golf course nearby. Pretty great for a day out with friends, date, or family. read more

This theater was in a cute little nook that my family (who has lived here for years) wasn't even aware of! They have a few shops, restaurants, bars, MINI GOLF (a personal fave) and the theater. They have a very large parking lot but I still recommend getting there early. The parking lot is next to a nice, scenic lake. We went at night so there may be more to offer than we realize. The theater was nice and clean. You get your tickets checked as soon as you walk in. They have your typical selection of food/drink like you'd expect from a theater: candy, popcorn, pre-packaged ice cream, some hot stuff like nachos, and even a selection of beer. The seats do not recline, which can be uncomfortable if you're not used to that. Expect you may be sitting upright for like 2-3+ hours, like you're in a plane... The reason why I knocked off a star was because I called ahead since we were seeing Avatar during the holidays, and I wanted to know when doors opened so we'd be there ahead of time but not too early (we didn't realize this area had places to walk around). They said they open doors like 10-15 min before show starts, because that's when the previous show ended and then they'd do a quick cleanup. Unfortunately, nobody was policing when doors re-opened, so a lot of people walked in as the other movie was ending and people that were being too much of a rule-follower (sadly, me) didn't realize this until I came in 10-15 min before show started and saw almost all of the seats were already filled up. I was disappointed. We still got decent seats, but keep this in mind, if it's a popular movie get there early even if they say "doors open 10-15min before show start". read more

Went into this movie theater as it is in Lakewood ranch, I usually go to cinbistro but we wanted to try this together for the first time, it is a nice simple movie theater and the movie I saw was the purge. This movie theater is obviously a movie theater that doesn't get pack which is a good thing and I was able to not feel crowded while in the movie theater. Over all, definitely will come here again, the seats aren't really the best comfortable seats but it was fine still sitting in them. I wouldn't watch a 3 hour movie in them though :) read more

First time here and Seats are old fashioned and not the comfiest, BUT the prices are unbelievable!! I paid $7 for a large popcorn!!! This is a great community movie theater. I just wish they had better food selection! There is a "cafe" that opens around 1:30 pm that serves hot dogs, which I'm happy with, but if you're going to a noonish movie, your only options are popcorn and candy. Not much for kid drink selections except Minute Maid apple juice and mixed fruit juice. Well, there is Yoohoo if you count that. What's nice about the theater is the theater seating, friendly staff, and fair prices. You purchase your tickets outside at the booth then stand in an orderly line if you're early for a popular movie. They are part of the Sarasota Film Society, so you can become a member and purchase tickets for only $5 vs $8, which is still a great price. I could be wrong, but I think they serve wine! read more

I've only been to this theater once. It's a smaller community type movie theater with 6 total screens. 2 of the screens normally show the newer released movies. Seating is more intimate because it's not a huge theater. Good place to go with friends/family. It's nice not to have to drive a long way to go catch a movie. It seems a little more pricy than the "big" theaters but over all it's a decent place. read more

I go here a lot for movies, they have a wide selection of new movies and one indie movie. The prices are decent for a theater. The snacks are a bit pricey but that is expected of a movie cinema. But dont even think about going on a friday night new release. The line will be out the door with people trying to get in. Upon arrival, I was a bit disappointed that the cinema looks smaller than expected. As I step inside, it was pretty spacious. It is located in a cute community area with small shops and restaurants nearby. There are parking near the shops but it is a bit limited as I had some trouble to find parking. I didn't believe this theater existed. My Mom insisted she had been there before, and told me where to turn, etc. ... but all I could see was silly little shops, all in that Lakewood Ranch style ... the blandness was almost overpowering. Mom's positive attitude got us to the theater, but is it just me or is it kind of hidden?? Granted it was night time ... Anyway, the cinema is new and very nice. You'll find the same ideas from Burns Court - snag a beer or some ice cream or the regular soda/popcorn/candy at the concession stand - and the films are sort of on the indie tip, or at least usually not different from what is showing at Hollywood 20. The theater we sat in had great plush seats that were new enough to not smell like farts and BO (!) and a really big screen (!) with decent sound (I guess - I don't really know about this - I only know when it's too soft/loud). The only negative about this place aside from the super secret location was the way the ticket-taker let people in at showtime ... everyone was corralled in the lobby when she called our movie ... people were bum rushing their way in! It was stressful and I thought there was going to be blood, but I made it through - phew. read more

This theater should be a model for other big chain type theaters. First, you can get a deep discount if you become a film society member (plus it feels good to support a non-corporate giant, which is a bonus for me.) Plus, you're not relegated (like anyehere else) to only drinking soda pop or water, here you can join the ranks of adult movie watching, complete with beer or wine. Being new, it is really nice not to have to deal with uber-sticky floors , or god forbid, sticky other places... It is maintained pretty well for a theater. The only gripe I have is being a smaller venue, you really have to plan if you're going to see a popular movie on opening night. But, the silver lining is that you can always order tickets ahead of time, skipping a long cue. Overall I would recommend this LRC for your next movie escape highly, just remember not to drink too much beer or you'll end up missing your movie! read more
