**** Update**** I have decided to update this review after…read morethe manager reach out to me to clear up the situation. As I mentioned in my original review it was truly a shocking moment to me that I refused to believe had happened considering how long I have been a patient of NWNP. Northwest Nurse Practitioner Associates to me represented everything that a family practice should embody and that is now missing in the health care system : empathy, compassion, knowledge, detailed-oriented, patience, confidence, trust, passion. I found all of the above qualities visiting Erin every years for the past 7 years and that last encounter (over the phone) with the manager was the complete opposite of what I was accustomed to hence my disbelief. I have the utmost respect for her and what she has built over the years and my decision to update my review is solely based on those 7 years. I do not believe that one incident should erase the consistent positive interactions and great care I have received from NWNP over the years. I want to believe that there was a miscommunication between me and the manager and it was not his intend to make me feel unheard. I appreciate him taking the time to reach out and write an apology email.

And that was true during that time. But something changed significantly as she transitioned to a sort of direct primary care practice and functional medicine practice. The practice seemed more impersonal. For example she tried to direct me away from monitoring my liver scores when I started taking statins. Although she had previously had the position that medications always have risks in promoting alternative medicine considerations and I had told her of my brother's death from non alcoholic cirrhosis due unmonitored prescription of cholesterol medication she tried to talk me out of the monitoring. At one point I had told her I didn't want to die from cirrhosis her reply was that there were worse ways to die.

I especially appreciate how she lets me make some of my own decisions regarding my prescriptions and how to handle bumps in the road regarding my health. I always feel like her and I are a team taking on my health together. Folks in her office are just as kind - from the folks that do bloodwork to the front desk. I wanted a doctor of color because I've had so many white doctors treat me like I am an inconvenience to them and I'm so grateful to have found MetroHealth. My only additional notes are that Hebou does talk about weight loss a lot, which I know isn't for everyone so if that's a line for you maybe y'all won't be the best fit. I also find her to be medicine-inclined, I had another doctor recommend more natural approaches to dealing with the same health concerns I have now. I think medicine was the best route but if you like to avoid medicines all together you may want to find another option for your primary care. Again, overall, highly recommended though!

Now we are left scrambling to figure out how he will get his medications refilled! How do you just leave your patients high and dry? Too bad I can't leave zero stars....

My…read moreprevious doctor's office had grown so much that things started slipping through the cracks, and the level of personal, consistent care I once received just wasn't there anymore. I recently had my first visit with Dr. Frederick at Hibiscus Medical, and I'm so glad I made the switch. She came highly recommended from a local DC group I'm part of, and from the moment I walked in, I could tell this office was something special. It's beautifully designed--calm, clean, and thoughtfully put together--with the kind of atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Her staff was friendly, welcoming, and organized, and everything ran smoothly from the moment I arrived. Dr. Frederick was warm, attentive, and truly took the time to listen. I could immediately tell she really cares about her patients' well-being and brings a wealth of knowledge to her care. Parking was surprisingly easy, which is almost unheard of in DC. If you're looking for a new primary care doctor who offers thoughtful, patient-centered care in a peaceful and professional setting, I highly recommend Hibiscus Medical. I'm grateful I found them!

Unfortunately I must echo other reviewers here- nice aesthetics but disorganized front staff, distant provider who provided essentially no services and instructed me to return for my concerns. Back to the overlords I go, le sigh...
