This place is great! We walked in and was greeted by friendly young man (not in a cheesy way) he made us feel welcome and escorted us to our table. This restaurant feels warm and cosy, it's quite small but you don't feel like your eating with the table beside you. There is heaps on the menu which all looked delicious. We had a party of 5 so we decided on the BBQ banquet for $44 and swapped a few dishes for some curries which the waitress suggested. The food was absolutely beautiful, everything was tender and flavoursome. This place is not for the faint-hearted because every dish had a big kick (chilli) which I loved. The banquet also came with 3 choices of dessert so we tried one of each. We loved this place and will be returning

I always have a good meal here. Inexpensive and delicious. Try the handy clay pot curry, yum.

Review Highlights - Lal Qila Restaurant

The curries have a delicate flavour, not heavy and oily, but packed with flavour and fresh with a variety of herbs and spices.

The pictures and reviews looked good, so I decided to check it out. You can go straight to the counter and place your order. You have the option of eating in or taking it to-go. I ordered the Nasi Lemak. As advertised on their menu, it's their signature dish. This is Malaysia's national dish, it's a fragrant coconut rice dish served with peanuts, crispy anchovies and pickled vegetables. I got it with beef rendang. Instead of beef, you have the option to get it with chicken curry. I never had Malaysian food before, but this breakfast dish was very similar to what Taiwanese eat. I thought it was not bad. I'm pretty sure it's good for Sydney and you would most definitely get something better at Malaysia. If you're eating in, once you're done, you can bring your plates and utensils to the counter.

Everything tasted super authentic and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portion sizes and protein content was definitely above average which is impressive as the prices were extremely reasonable. The staff was happy and attentive and the space was large and clean. Solid 4 stars ! Give it go
