Honestly I am truly disappointed in how the staff treats certain customers here. This salon has gone downhill since going under new management. I'd been going to the original business "Coco Nails" in Murray Hill since I was a child and followed them all the way out to Port Washington, so it has been literal years of me supporting the original establishment. Since the place went under new management and became "Lala Nails," I noticed the mistreatment of the staff towards certain customers. I make reservations, and yet every time I arrive I'm told I don't have one. Although I have a pleasant demeanor I've seen the new staff run for other customers as soon as I've entered the salon; and I have seen the same treatment toward other African American customers while being serviced. As of recent I've been informed (by women of a different race in the salon) that as soon as I or other African American customers enter the establishment they all start fighting to avoid servicing me (or other African American customers). I am confused because I pay and I tip like everyone else (without any issue). I am also, truly disgusted; and being that I have been such a loyal customer throughout the years I am appalled, and will be taking further action, because the behavior is unacceptable read more

I went to LaLa today with a gift certificate that was purchased in December 2022. Current law states that no gift card may expire earlier than five years from the date of purchase and requires businesses to prominently post the 'Terms and Conditions' that apply to their gift cards, including the procedure to replace a missing card. So I'm confused why my gift card wasn't accepted. Can you please explain? read more

Welcoming and friendly staff! Clean, comfortable place! I often call in advance, but I've never had to wait once I get there.

I really wanted to like this place because it's clean and it's so close to my house. I always try to give a place second and, if possible, third chance. I went here several times while I was trying out several other places in the neighborhood. They charge $70 for Spa Pedi which includes foot massage, and I got that pedi every time I was there in addition to regular mani and twenty minute shoulder massage while my nails are getting dried. My bill is usually $120 -130 range, and I always tip 20-25% I always make appointments none of which are ever on time. I have never been 100% satisfied- sometimes it's mediocre massage, sometimes it's less than perfect polish job, and other times it's just an ok mani pedi, or all of the above. When they lack quality or professionalism, neither the owner or the staff are apologetic. The cost does not justify the service. read more

Wow. What a shame that my fav place is no longer worth the money. Had a regular pedicare for $35 that lasted 15 minutes. When I visited Lala Nail after a long time, both the staff and manager greeted me kindly, which made me feel good. I received manicure and spa pedicure services. During the spa pedicure, they used a scrub to remove dead skin and gave me a 20-minute massage using cream and hot stones, which was truly amazing. I went there twice for a gel fill-in. Both times they charged me a different amount. The first time my nail broke within a week, I went there, and they charged me to fix it, even though it was their fault (I had a broken nail and the manicurist instead of building in it with gel she just glued it - that's why it broke again so soon). The second time, after two weeks, my nail had detached. First time I had a gel nail detached. Lastly, the quality is really bad even though the prices are high - my nails were so bulky. I just moved to Port Washington; that's why I gave them a second chance. Thankfully, I found Jasmine nails which is MUCH better!! La La nails, I guess, is good just for a simple pedicure, nothing else. read more

From the minute we walked in we were aggressively pressured to pick a color despite having scheduled appointments ahead of time. My pedicure was a rushed job. The nail tech demanded my credit card before explaining how much each service was as I was paying for 4 people. She ignored me and came back with a receipt for me to sign and without a receipt for my records. I asked if I could put tip on my credit card and she said NO you can use the ATM machine for $1. I told her I didn't not have an ATM card and that I would come back later with cash tip and she repeated what I said to he coworkers and they all laughed as if I wasn't going to come back with tip. I asked again for a breakdown of how much each service was and they ignored me until another customer got involved. It ended up that they overcharged me and charged me a $5 service fee for using a credit card which I wasn't told about. I wasn't until after i put on my first shoe did they tech suggest I dry a little longer although it was supposed to be quick dry manicure that I paid extra for. Nasty, and unprofessional. Worst pedicures on a consistent basis ..consistently bad job... a glorified change of polish

I waited a few days before posting a review because I wanted my review, while it will not be a favorable one, to not be an angry one. I have consistently heard that they are rude and very "overpriced" and I recognize that overpriced varies by person. I went this week And this place was rude and overpriced! They push you for services you don't want and when I slowed her down I chose a callous pedicure that was $40 when I really wanted the refreshing pedicure $45 which included a 10 minute foot reflexology. She said "I can add 10 minute" I agreed. To be fair I assumed she would charge the difference but when she was done with my rushed pedicure and the owner came to collect payment she told me $55 and when I questioned her she was rude and said it is $15 for foot reflexology I spoke nicely to her letting her know I thought that was misleading and quite honestly a bit much her response was "ok" she never even made a gesture of good will. I was with 2 friends and we all live local and Lala has now lost 3 customers. I know now why it is never busy. Rip off and rude! $68 (with tip) for a mediocre pedicure not for me. I felt really safe with their Covid procedures recently when I went in for a mani pedi. They have a special screen that takes your temp, the place was spotless and everyone was wearing masks. I felt confident enough to schedule a massage for the next day. The massage was fantastic. I had intense muscle tightness in my shoulders from stress and a headache that wouldn't go away. There are pros and cons to this place for sure. The main reasons I like this place is that they are open weekends and are very clean. This place is a very modernly decorated but make no mistake it is a nail salon. The spa options don't seem "legit". I didn't see any licenses for their facials or massages options but I've gotten waxed at nail salons and they claimed to have special wax. After telling them repeatedly of sensitivity and being reassured I was still burned! I just hope it doesn't scar. I don't think I'll be returning unless just for a general manicure and pedicure. I asked about prices and they were rude about it but I wasn't shocked or offended since just moving here from Astoria. Up until a few weeks ago, I would have given them a 5 star review. They give AMAZING Mani-pedis and wonderful massages. However, I exercise caution when getting an eyebrow wax. I went for my first one ever, and had an awful experience. While the woman did a decent job, she ended up burning the skin between my eyebrow and upper eye lid. I now have a scar thanks to them. While I understand it was probably an accident, I would still exercise caution for anyone going for an eyebrow wax there. I went in the other day, I was there for 2 and a half hours because they kept doing other people's nails before mine, they charged me an absolutely absurd price for a below average manicure and ignored me when I asked them to do my nails the way I wanted them done. I received a giftcard to LaLa's and decided to try their Lavender Spa Pedicure. Sophia started me off, and Lynn came over to continue and finish my service. Lynn gave me a great 20minute foot and leg massage. The front desk was very welcoming when I arrived and courteaous as I was being checked out. This used to be my favorite spa when under the former owners. The new owner leaves a good deal to be desired. I had a gift certificate and used a third of it and instead of writing the details in English, she wrote them in her language so disputing her arithmetic was useless. Let's just say she lost a good customer. There are several excellent spas in town who will get my business. The technicians at LaLa are very good and pleasant, but they do not make policy. It's a shame that such a beautiful space is tarnished with a cold-hearted management and seemingly unhappy employees. From what I'm gathering this is the "newer" management but not necessarily "new and improved". My main issue besides the cold shoulder? Came here for a quick polish change this morning and they were super rude about it. It was almost like they were annoyed that I was getting a polish change instead of a manicure. I used to come here often but ever since they have new owners the place is horrible. I won't be returning. That was def my last time at LaLa nails.
