I have naturally dark hair with dark root touch-ups, and at that point it was a mix of orange, brassy highlights and multiple tones. Abby Lauren and Bobby explained that I basically had 3-4 different colors in my hair -- some highlights had been toned, others hadn't. Instead of lightening it further and risking more damage, they focused on restoring my hair's health. They added some beautiful money pieces, recommended an emergency treatment, and gave me a much-needed haircut. My hair had so much breakage it looked like a little rat tail, but the cut completely transformed it! After the treatment, my hair felt thicker, stronger, and healthier. From Long, Healthy Hair to Severe Breakage -- and a Salon That Refused to Take Responsibility I started seeing Lindsay at Lawless Salon in February with long, beautiful, healthy hair. Over the months, I noticed more and more breakage and damage under her care. By my second appointment, I was already asking about extensions because my hair had gotten so short -- a clear sign of damage -- though I didn't yet fully understand the extent of what had happened. I've been seeing her every 6 weeks since February, and as the professional, she should have noticed the progressive breakage, addressed the issue, and offered proper treatments. Instead, my hair continued to deteriorate until I had no choice but to seek a second opinion, where another stylist confirmed it had been overprocessed. On top of the damage, the salon environment is shockingly unprofessional. I personally witnessed stylists speaking negatively about other clients -- not just to each other, but directly to me. That kind of gossip is disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable in any salon setting. When I tried to address the damage privately, I was met with denial and excuses. Their own "evidence" was a photo from my first appointment -- of course my hair looked good then, because I came in with healthy hair. Breakage takes time. They refused to acknowledge the progressive damage and denied any responsibility, offering no fair resolution. I have since decided not to return and will be taking further steps to address this issue publicly and formally. My experience has been deeply disappointing, both in terms of the damage to my hair and the lack of professionalism from the salon. read more

I've been going to Lalo for a while now - I'm not sure how many years! I've been to a few different stylists there as it is an industry where people move around a bit. I'm currently going to Devin. He's so personable and friendly and I enjoy our chats. He also pays close attention to detail, which I appreciate. I get my hair trimmed and get a smoothing treatment. I would fully trust him/someone else there to do extensions or color my hair, but I don't use those services! Everyone there is friendly. The salon itself is very comfortable and has a cool vibe. It doesn't hurt that they're located just over a mile from my house! I truly believe you get what you pay for. Are there less expensive places to get a trim? Sure! Just wanted to review Lalo Salon and let people know what kind of place this really is. My mother and I went to Gavin. Gavin completely ruined the back of my mother's hair (see photos), chopped it in half, not to mention the color was way off from the color she was seeking, she even went back to show him the color. No one ever called me to confirm my appointment, but they did my mother's (we went at different times, same day), I called twice and was given wrong information that I was with another stylist, I called back and they had the correct appointment. Then there is some kind of a club you can join, my mother received a little card, I did not. During the hair washing, my shirt was completely drenched; they did put it in the dryer. Other salons I have been to they maybe don't style your hair unless you pay for it, but at least blow it dry a little to see how the color turned out and not let you leave with wet hair, maybe you would have seen my mother's color and how off it was. Gavin asked if I used purple shampoo, I said no, it does not work for me and that I don't feel I should have to do maintenance on hair color after paying these high prices. At time of checkout Gavin brought up a little basket with products that he used and one of them was a purple shampoo, he said to use it every other washing, I bathe every day, so my hair gets washed daily. To me when a stylist says to use a purple shampoo that often that is a red flag. I also purchased something from the boutique near the reception desk, when I got it home it turned out to be a piece of cheap junk, I called the salon and they said boutique items are not refundable, funny I did not see a sign in the lobby stating that, so now I am stuck with this item. Gavin was a nice person, but maybe needs more supervision and maybe cut his 5-inch finger nails which I could see was a handicap while cutting hair (maybe why my mother's hair got ruined). She since has found another salon and the stylist said she has never seen such a haircut like my mother's. It will take months for my mother's hair to get back to normal in the back. No reply is necessary as we will not be back. And yes, I did go to your salon in Chesterfield, MO, I use my middle name on Yelp and Portland Maine just defaults on my profile. read more

Generally- pretty good. After yesterday, I won't be returning. Tony has touched up my roots for me with a quick trim several times now- and always did a pretty good job. They're usually running a few min late, but that seems normal in hair salons these days. Yesterday, when I was in for my regular root touchup- I decided it was time to make a change and chop about 4 inches off. I was nervous about it, but thought I'd give him a chance since he's done a good job with my color in the past. I showed him a few pictures of what I was thinking and then he did the cut. I WISH i would have spoken up in the moment, but I think I was just trying to trust the process and that it would come out great in the end. But, I don't love it. Here are the things that really bothered me: 1. After looking at the picture, he never confirmed with me that we were both seeing the same length hair. Ie. Hold my hair out and show me where you're planning to cut. He started in the back so I couldn't see to correct him. My hair ended up 1-2 inches shorter than what I wanted and what the picture showed. 2. He never asked a single question about how much time I usually prep in the morning, what I see in the picture vs. what he sees. 3. He did most of the cut with wet hair and said he was going to finish it dry. Cool- totally have experienced that method before. However, it was the most chaotic blowout I could ever imagine. He left the diffuser attachment on and just randomly blew my hair around for 10 min. There was no round brush, no straightening, nothing. To top it off, he was hitting me in the head with the blow dryer! I honestly was too shocked to react. Besides the terrible experience, how in the world could you make a precise dry cut without straight and flat hair?? 4. Answer to the above question- you cannot. Sure, the cut looks OK with curls in (although significantly shorter than what I wanted)- but i don't wear curls everyday. I'm an airdry or upside down blow-dry kind of girl. And in that scenario.....the lack of attention to detail and precise cut is OBVIOUS. Like seriously obvious. For those reasons, I won't be returning to Lalo salon. One would think that a salon would have enforced standards and education around what a blowdry means and basic haircutting techniques.I'm sure there are some better stylists there, but I don't want to take the chance. read more

I booked an appointment here based on others reviews of this salon and I'm happy to report that I believe I found my new salon! Bobbie was so great, professional, attentive and most importantly very good at what he does! He asked me all the right questions: what I liked and didn't like about my hair, what kind of cut I was looking for and he verified the length I wanted several times before cutting (huge when it's your first appointment with a new stylist). I'd been to an Aveda salon once before but it was years ago and I didn't really see the hype. Bobbie explained everything he was using on my hair and recommended products to use throughout my appointment to help me achieve the look I wanted with this cut and my hair felt great when I left. My fiancé and I were getting slightly unique engagement pics and I needed someone to do my hair and makeup. I called over 10 salons and half of them never called me back...the other half required a trial ($100+) before they would agree to do my final hair and makeup (another $200+). Ridiculous! Then I came across Angie at Lalo Salon. Booking was a breeze and pricing was straightforward. No trial required. Angie met me at her salon at 6:30am so I could be on my way by 8:30am. I had no pre-conceived ideas of what I wanted for my hair and makeup. Angie took in my outfit and our engagement shoot concept and got to work. She would ask the right questions around what I liked/hated. 1.5 hours later (I was expecting 2 hours), my hair and makeup were done and I was on my way. She worked with my natural hair texture to get me a really dramatic, vintage updo. I have a darker complexion and am always nervous about strangers getting it right...Angie got it right. Terrible... I came in for a haircut and a highlight. They decided I needed a gloss treatment and boliage to get the look I showed and drying was extra and no time. Over 3.5 hours I finally had to leave. Turned out they had no clean, dry towels, so I had to leave with dripping hair and they attempted to charge me over $270. Owner called me later and told me not to come back again ... terrible service. If you are going to attempt to charge over $270, at least dry my hair and have clean towels. read more

VERY welcoming staff and not once did I ever feel this "Uppity" vibe one may get when entering a new place for the first time - or every time (hence one of the many reasons why I left one in Town & Country). Angie did my hair and makeup for my wedding in May 2019. She worked with me for as long as I wanted during the trial to figure out my wedding look. On my wedding day she did my matron of honor's hair and makeup in our hotel room and then did my hair and makeup at our wedding site. I appreciated how flexible she was about location. I will have to rate this salon a two star, in my particular situation I am sure they do great with other hair colors I am a blonde and I understand what processes need to be done to achieve the color that I want I went in a couple weeks ago and saw Chloe for the first time. She is a lovely gal no doubt however, with my hair, my grays are very stubborn I have never had a process to do a root color where they put it on wet. I do not like this technique as it bleeds into my bright blonde I also don't like this technique because it does not cover the gray and to prove my point, after I was done , and they dried my hair low and behold, it did not cover my gray, now I'm two weeks out the color has faded and I'm back to gray hair. Also took me four hours to get my hair done which is absurd. I hate Lonza hair color for this reason as well I left not too satisfied and paid $176 I guess I'll have to find a salon who handles Redken color and can do my roots while my hair is in foil on dry hair . highly doubt I'll get a refund but it is what it is. Now walking around with gray roots blonde hair and muddy looking hair color 6 days before my wedding. First timer to this salon and I had a great experience. I showed Kaila a few Pinterest photos of the blunt long bob that I was going for. We discussed lengths for the front and back and after the cut she gave me a mirror and encouraged me to take a look at the back to make sure the edges were straight and even to my liking. My daughter and I have gotten our haircut at Lalo by Bobbie and had a great experiences. My husband also gets his haircut here and has no complaints. This time I wanted a balayage and a haircut and asked for the person with most experience. Upon arriving everything was ok and showed several pictures of what I wanted. When toning my hair the stylist says "you don't want your hair dried, right". I was taken back and said I that I did indeed want my hair to be dried. Then she says I didn't book a hair dry. I am confused at this point because out of all the times I have gotten my hair cut and or colored I have never left a salon with wet hair. Especially paying over $200 you want to see what it looks like (and it was 10 degrees outside). She said she didn't have time and then asked someone else to do it. The new person starts washing my hair and questioning me again asking about me wanting my hair dried acting like it was a big deal saying it was extra time and money and that most people don't have anywhere to be at the end of the day and don't care if their hair is dried. Meanwhile I see no one that has left with wet hair. Even while drying my hair it was brought up several more times asking where I had to go. I was made to feel bad/stupid that I assumed this was a service that is expected with a cut and color? After the dry, my color isn't even what we talked about. It looks very uniform and almost stripy with not a lot of dimension. This was my first time coming to see Bobbie Howell and Lalo Salon, and it definitely won't be my last!! I hadn't got my hair done in over two years so i really needed some TLC. He brought my spotty blonde brassy mess to a beautifuly blended Icey blonde balayage! I didn't even think it was possible. He was so patient, kind, and very informative on what he was going to do with my hair and how long it would take. He got it done in a very reasonable amount of time, and we enjoyed many good conversations while he worked his magic. The customer service from everyone was outstanding! The entire staff made me feel like a super star once my hair was done and styled. I didn't want too much cut off, so he made it look like i didn't even get a hair cut! Which is exactly what i wanted!!! I could not believe my transformation, my confidence went through the roof and i owe it all to Bobbie Howell!!
