Great hustling and bustling salon with great aesthetics. Owner really is meticulous about design making you feel like it's a top-end salon. Employees are all top-notch and any assistants used for shampoo bowls all are amazing scalp massagers. I had a headache today and my stylists assist was soooo good. I had a consultation with Jill who was recommended to me by a good friend & from the get go felt comfortable 2 weeks later getting color & a cut. She nailed it! After growing my hair out natural she did foil low lights that got rid of the white & yellowish bangs & top layer of hair around my face to make it all darker- the salt & pepper I want. Horrible experience. My son went in for trim/clean-up and Rebecca proceeded to cut off ALL of his beautiful hair that he has been growing for months. She completely violated his trust and disregarded the instructions both my son and husband gave her. Who would do this?! There's no way to make this right as his hair is now all gone. He's so upset and embarrassed. We will NEVER return to this place again!!!!!! read more

I had my hair done for my wedding by Rebecca. We started my session by looking at photos I had saved on my phone from Pinterest, and I showed her a picture of my wedding dress. We agreed on a hairstyle and she asked my opinion on if I wanted more of my hair pulled back in certain areas, if I wanted a part in my hair, etc. She would show me what it would be like, I would stop and look at picture examples, make a decision, and she would be so kind about waiting for me to decide. I did not do a trial as I knew I would be in the hands of great talent at Dominic Michael. The process took a little over an hour and my style held all day. My hair was done at 11AM and I took my bobby pins out at 1AM. The curls held for another full day until I washed my hair. I have long, thick, and heavy hair so that was really impressive for me! I just moved to St. Louis, and naturally my number one concern was finding a new, trustworthy hair stylist. I'm a review hound, so after reading many positive reviews online, I decided to book an appointment at Dominic Michael's. Tammy is my hair genie. She's a wizard. I got one of my best cuts and colors with her last time I had an appointment. Plus she has a pet pig, which is legit. Erica cut and colored my hair one time also, and did it exactly how I asked and envisioned. I have a really funky red and blonde combo hair color, and it is rare that a stylist nails it on the head. All of the girls at the salon were very friendly and entertaining, and I recommended the salon to two girlfriends who also recently moved down here. Definitely my salon now! read more

While visiting my family during the holidays, I decided to get my hair done and made an appointment at Dominic Michael based upon its solid reputation. In September, my hair had been dyed too dark at a neighborhood salon in Boston. I made an appointment to DM just for a much-needed trim and that melting/ombre color effect. I was given an appointment with Keri, who is one of their newer stylists. Keri was absolutely amazing. She's super-energetic and really loves her job. We ended up needing to strip my hair as the girl who had done it before had dyed it almost black. We had to strip it TWICE. The farthest we could go was a red shade (I do not have red hair) and at first I was scared, but I trusted her. She then put a more appropriate dark brown shade on top and toned the rest of it. Its awesome how the color blends -- especially since I was the first client she had done this sort of style on. My mother was actually shocked she achieved such a look without those pesky, time-consuming foils. Keri spent 5.5 hours on me. I couldn't be more happy with my hair and cannot remember the last time I was so pleased with it. I was also worried I would be spending A LOT of money, but was more than pleasantly surprised when I got the check. I wish I could take Keri with me to Boston, but I'll just have to go back when I visit my parents again. Since it was a new color for me, she told me to come back during her next shift if I thought it was "too red" and she would just throw toner on it. (It was a bit of a change.) By then I was more comfortable with it and just needed her to trim off another inch because the stripping can dry it out and it was after going home I realized I had about an inch that could still go. She happily took care of me, even offering to wash and dry it again, even though she was scheduled to leave a half an hour later. I told her it was not necessary, but I thought it was sweet she asked. If you want to try DM in Chesterfield, do it. And ask for Keri! read more

I have been going to this location for about 9 or 10 years. I have always been happy with my hair and my nails. Erica has done my hair for over six years and she is the best. Erica provides classes to other salons and I am sure they learn a lot. Olga has done my nails the last few years and her skills are first rate. I have been going to Courtney, a Level 1 stylist at the DM Salon in Chesterfield for over a year now. I always look forward to my appointment with her because she does an amazing job with my hair. My hair is very long, it reaches down to the middle of my back, very flat, and I have at least 2 cowlicks in the front where my side-bangs are. I have never been happy with a cut until I started seeing Courtney. My hair looked full, soft, and my bangs actually cooperated the entire day (which never happens). I always loved going home to show my fiance my hair because he loves how it looks after Courtney has worked her magic. Courtney not only does a great job cutting and styling my hair, she is so fun to talk to. She is friendly and open, and she has a great personality. Since I have so much hair, my appointments often last over 1 hr and 30 min, and she makes the time fly. Because I was so happy with Courtney, I dragged my fiance to an appointment. He was always the Sport Clips kind of guy, until he met my Courtney. He is a changed man, and will probably never trust anyone else to cut his hair again. My fiance and I recently moved back to Chicago, and we are already missing Courtney. I am panicking about having to find a new stylist for both of us, especially because I will be getting married in a little over a year, and I don't think I will find anyone as good as Courtney to do my wedding hair. I guess I will just have to fly to Chesterfield every couple months for hair cuts, and fly her to Chicago for my wedding. :-) read more

Toni Leisure 1 review in the last week I am very pleased to say that I love Courtney, my new hair stylist! I made an appointment for a consultation with Courtney based on previous reviews. I then made an appointment to get my haircut. At first, I was apprehensive because of my previous experience at a different salon. Thank goodness hair grows back. I have shoulder length hair and I wanted long soft layers. Courtney literally made me feel at ease and spent a very long time walking me through my haircut on what she's going to do. Courtney flat ironed my hair at first then proceeded to cut it to make sure layers blended in properly. She had extra time so she washed my hair and styled it again with a blow out. I was very happy with the outcome but then again still doubtful because stylists do a great job styling your hair but once you get home that is the time to really see how you can tell what the cut is like and if you're able to style it the right way. It is now day 4 and without hesitation I can honestly say that I found one of the best hairdresser at Dominic Michael in Chesterfield. My hair is now more manageable, layers add full body & framed my face very nicely. I will definitely be back. Thank you Courtney! read more

My 30 minute drive to see Shanna every 6 weeks is worth it- she is superb with color (balayage expert), cut, is a pro pro pro, and also an intelligent, interesting, and fun person to talk to. The salon itself it well designed logistically. You move from area to area depending upon your stage of processing. The color processing area is sort of like a bar, but no alcohol (more on that later). Heads up - the salon ain't cheap, but you get what you pay for and I've had such difficulty finding consistently good stylists in the Saint Louis area. Continuing education for staff shines through beautifully. They also don't slam products down your throat, thankfully. I buy them because they work well. Tips are cash or check only, so be prepared for that. They have sodas, coffee, tea complimentary - thanks for that! I might suggest adding wine or mimosas to sip on...? Being pampered and a good libation go together like... well being pampered and a good libation. read more

I had been going to Dominic Michael salon for about 5 years--first Tammy, and then Courtney when Tammy went out on leave. The front desk never seemed to have their act together and my appointments were usually booked for the wrong amount of time. Tammy would cancel more often than not. The front desk would call me about an hour before my evening appointments and tell me she'd left for various reasons (her own illness, a sick dog, etc.). My last few appointments were with Courtney. The haircuts were fine (but not great)--until she LEFT IN THE MIDDLE!!! She'd been having car trouble and another stylist was giving her a ride home. The other girl needed to leave and asked if Courtney could take an Uber home. Courtney at first said sure, but after about five minutes, she ran after the girl and said she'd leave then. She told me she was done, grabbed her purse, and left me in the chair with wet hair. Seriously. I just got a haircut at a different salon and my new stylist asked, "What is going on with your hair?! You have layers on the right but none on the left? No offense, but this is a mess!" Oh, that would be because my former stylist left in the middle of a $60 haircut!!!! Clients beware!!!! read more

I've had great experiences here since I moved to St. Louis 3 years ago but my last cut was in the evening and I felt it was very rushed and I was not very satisfied with my cut. I have a lot of hair and I had asked to have my layers cut to thin the middle of my hair and very little of that got done. I felt it was not worth my money like all my past cuts had been. read more

5 Stars for Kelley and everyone at Dominic Michael in Chesterfield!!!! I just moved to Missouri from Cali and was super scared to try a new salon, but I had nothing to worry about here. Everyone was super sweet and warm and welcoming from the minute I stepped in the door. The sweet gal at the desk (sorry I'm so bad with names, I promise I'll remember it next time), made me a perfectly yummy cup of hot tea and then Kelley greeted me right away. She gave me a tour of the salon and explained how the process works. They have a "color bar" where they apply and process color, and then a brightly lit salon station/chair where she would cut and style my hair. It was so nice and comforting. Kelley is super talented. I asked for a change in my color and highlights as well as a change in my hair style and she didn't even blink. She asked lots of great questions and made it a collaborative effort. She was AWESOME. The end result was nothing short of fabulous. I'm so happy and thrilled with my new look. Just what I needed to go with my new home town :) Plus Kelley is really cool and easy to talk with - the time flew by and I can't wait to go back! They also run lots of great promotions that really make spending the money worth it. Since I booked my next visit with Kelley before I left, my next visit will be 20% off. Plus lots more that I cannot remember at the moment, but it all sounded brilliant. I like that they have creative thought going on not just with the stylists, but with the business as well - very impressed. I went to Dominic Michael for the first time last month. I needed my hair colored before a wedding and although I made the appointment last minute and there wasn't really time on the schedule, Erica came in early one day to help me out. She is a life saver and a very talented girl! The consultation before we got started was very helpful. Erica was very good at communicating all my options and really tried to understand what is was I wanted before she even started. To me, this is very important because so many stylists I've been to in the past think they know what you want and get started without asking questions. Everyone at the salon was super friendly and when I left, I got a gift bad with coupons and samples! I already have my next appointment set up with Erica! Way to go Dominic! read more

I have been going to DM for the last 3-4 years and it is great! They always have someone at the desk to give a warm welcome and offer me coffee or a drink, when it's cold they hang up your coat for you, which is a wonderful touch. I started going to Courtney Fowler for balayage color and hair cuts after calling the salon and asking for one of their best colorists in this technique and she did not disappoint! She always listens to what I want and has great recommendations on what she thinks will look good on me. Courtney is so flexible and willing to come in early or stay a little late at times to finish my long thick hair and I really appreciate that! Go to DM salon, you won't regret it! read more

I've been coming here less than a year, and I've been very happy with the work that they do. Yes, it's expensive, but to me, the quality of the work makes it worth it. For many years, I did the local chain salon thing, but I just wasn't happy with all of the turnover that typically occurs at those places, nor was I happy with the impersonal service I got. If you want someone to truly look at your hair and take their time doing a good job, you should definitely come here. The level of personalization is unrivaled. I took my daughter in to get an updo for homecoming on Saturday and it literally was the worse job I've ever seen. Last year she had her hair done and went in to a different salon with a picture and left with it looking exactly the same as the picture. We laughed when she took all the pins out that there was 127 of them and you couldn't see even 1. With that being said she went in Saturday with a picture and we left with it looking nothing like the picture AND her hair is blonde and there were black bobby pins everywhere showing in the back. She came out to show me and it was awful and Shanna offered to redo it. We said fine and when she finished the 2nd time it was a little better but looked nothing like the picture and looked like she had just woke up out of bed. The receptionist ( I think owner) knew we were upset and said absolutely nothing to us. She was more worried about the next client had to wait for her updo. (I should have told her to run). I paid full price and left. Funny thing is when we got in the car she immediately took all 15 bobby pins out and tried to save the curls to do something with her hair for the evening. Seriously ONLY 15 bobby pins for an updo compared to 127. That hair would have fallen in a heartbeat. Absolutely never going back and would never recommend this place. read more
