Roughly two years ago, I was at this plaza, at Burger King's drive-thru, getting food. When I left this plaza, I noticed Petit Delights Desserts. For someone who enjoys hitting a bakery, I'm not sure why I didn't drop by.
A couple of evenings ago, I was on my DoorDash app, browsing. This bakery popped up. I checked out its desserts.
Dessert cups. Croissants. Macarons. I had to visit this store.
I had debated whether the prices on DoorDash would be marked up compared to getting items at the store. I decided to do the latter. I would learn that the prices on DoorDash match those posted at the store.
One word: excellent!
I came here after working from home on a Wednesday. It is in a plaza with lots of parking. All parking spots in front of this bakery were taken. I ended up backing into an available spot in front of the walk-in clinic.
This dessert place is huge. I walked in and loved seeing what felt like an endless train of dessert cases with everything a baked goods lover would dream of.
The downside was a male staffer who kept on pacing. I don't know if his role was to be a fake security person or to instill an awkward, uncomfortable vibe. He succeeded with the latter to a certain extent. I felt it, but ended up ignoring him when I focused on all desserts that I wanted. He truly needs to cut out the pacing. It's unnecessary. It's the reason why this review doesn't get five stars.
I wanted to get macarons. I like sharing them with a friend at work. This place already had six assorted and a dozen assorted ones in boxes. However, you got six or a dozen different flavours, respectively. I like having two each of the same flavour, so that my friend and I can taste-test the same flavour and comment.
I got the nicest, most patient woman. I let her know that I wanted a dozen macarons. She nodded and we walked over to the display case.
I got two each of the following macaron flavours:
- Raspberry
- Red velvet
- Coconut
- Lime
- Pistachio
- Mango
I then looked at the three types of tiramisu cups. Wow!
I got the pistachio tiramisu. It was different.
This woman put my items in a paper bag. I signed up for points at this bakery by entering my cell phone number. I then paid with a credit card. Done!
I thanked this woman for all her help. She seemed appreciative and wished me a great day. I reciprocated.
I headed to my car and drove off to fetch some dinner before heading home.
I had the pistachio tiramisu for dessert after dinner. I loved it. There were chopped pistachios with some pistachio flavouring in the mascarpone. It had ladyfingers that were soaked in coffee. It had the perfect sweetness. I appreciated the twist on a classic dessert.
The woman at the store said that I could get six of anything and not pay any tax. I guess that was the case with my dozen macarons. I brought them into work to share with my friend. He went to Paris last year. I recommended that he get macarons while he was there. I like that we taste-test macarons together because he has had authentic macarons.
These macarons were outstanding. My friend said that they were the best that he has had. His favourite was the mango. It had a natural mango sweetness to it.
All macarons had crispy, yummy shells. Although I'm not sure why the coconut ones were blue, I loved how it tasted like real coconut. I loved all of them. My top three were coconut, raspberry, and lime. So good!
We agreed that this place is a keeper. I need to return for croissants, crepes, and a whole lot more.
This bakery is such a gem in the Malvern-Scarborough area. It's open until 2 am, which is insane. If I have a hankering for dessert at midnight, I'm driving over here for my fix.
