Re-downloaded Yelp just to write this review. We tried their samosas at the Farmers Market at Mueller. Not sure what compelled me to pay $7 for 2 veggie samosas, but we were so disappointed. Small, soggy exterior, mushy filling with subpar flavor. Didn't taste any turmeric or cumin, no potato, just not good. We love samosas and we hate wasting food, but we had to throw the rest away. Not sure about the rest of their food offerings, but we won't be spending our money here anymore. read more

Located at the food trailer park on Rainey Street & open pretty late on Fri / Sat makes this the ideal place to grab a quick bite when in that area. We shared a Spicy Lamb Curry Wrap and it seems just enough for two people. I asked them for an extra plate and to cut the wrap in two and they did so props on the customer service. I remember enjoying it, the price point for the size of wrap was good and i gobbled it up in record time so I'm making this my spot for the next few times I'm over on Rainey to sample the rest of the menu so I can get a better understanding of the menu. 4 stars for now! read more

We had a chance to try them at Mueller's farmers market. We just had opportunity to try their samosas. They gave 2 samosa with side of chutney for $7. The reason for 1 star is that the samosa they served were pretty small size as well as not fresh or hit either. It seemed they got some frozen samosas from indian grocery store being fried out. Also price of 7 bucks seems outrageously pricey. read more

As a Brit I miss my two favorite types of foods : good Fish N Chips as nothing beats the local chippy ... And really good curry as every town has several really good curry houses; and I have yet to find anything close in any US city! We discovered this company at the local farmers market... And I love their food! Its authentic and delicious - their tomato and cilantro chutney replicated the "starter" tray that was always served with poppadoms at my local curry house ; some moorish! Their dal was delicious and perfectly spiced; it's not crazy hot which makes it authentic to traditional Indian cuisine, the spinach paneer was delicious and not overly salted as is the case with many versions of this dish and the cauliflower and potato dish was great ! We ended up with 6 dishes and two stuffed breads for under $35 which was enough for two meals! Cannot wait to try more read more

I go every couple weeks to the Buda Farmer's Market on Sunday to pick up prepared Indian Food from Lamba's. It is delicious and healthy, and very easy for me to just heat up during the week when I don't have the time to cook. He has a great variety: lamb curry, 4 or 5 different chicken dishes and over a dozen vegetarian dishes. Every one I have tried is delicious. Plus naan, pakora, samosas, and chutney! Hungry from a bar crawl, we dropped by for a plate of Chicken Tikka Masala. You know those styrofoam boxes that have two small compartments and a large one? Well, they packed the large compartment full of rice and one of the smaller compartments with Tikka. What gives?? Not only was the sauce runny, the bites of chicken were few and far between. My only disappointment is not photographing the tiny portion size. We had Masala Dhaba later in the night and felt it was a much better value for money and just as tasty!! read more

Service was prompt and friendly. When I went, cash was not accepted. I got the chicken curry, and it was delicious. The reason I am giving this place only 3 stars is because of small details that could be improved upon- the basmati rice was lumpy and not cooked well, and in size it was disproportionately larger than the curry serving. I saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to try out Lamba's at the Hope Market. I ordered the aloo paratha, aloo baigan masala and the spinach pakora with Lamba's royal dip. The paratha was essentially a tortilla with the filling. This is totally not Indian at all - totally disappointed with the notion that this is a paratha. It felt as though I got a tortilla picked up from a grocery store and then filled with a potato filling . I also had to fully cook it through after reaching home. The aloo baigan masala was not good at all. The spinach pakora had so much oil too. There was nothing great about the royal dip. Overall, it has been a great disappointment. read more

I thought LA had drunchies figured out, boy was I wrong! Lamba's was an amazing surprise on Rainey street. If you're there hanging out, you must come here! Order the spicy lamb curry wrap, if they don't have that then the spicy lamb bowl. The spiciness & great flavor go perfectly with all the drinking being done. I cannot express how good this is. Good Indian food, but some aspects need improvements. We got paneer masala and chicken curry on rice. Both curries were fragrant with a lot of Indian spices. The level of spiciness is about right too; not too spicy, not too bland. We loved that they put cilantro chutney on the rice. As for things that need improvements, I think the rice was overcooked and a bit mushy. The paneer consistency is a bit off and a bit too small. Also there were some inedible parts in the curry like onion peel and cardamom pod. The service is very good. Fast and friendly. read more

Garrima and Gurpreet Lamba are the masterminds behind this handcrafted naan! They get a +1 solely for providing this American staple (naan is truly adored by the USA). Oh, additionally, they do a whole mess of Indian curries--I am probably misusing that term, as I am certain that the authentic Indian lovers know that the word curry is reserved for specific offerings. As i perused the market on Sunday morning, I was quite excited to see a new stand with the word "lamb" in it. Who doesn't love the cute little animals that yield an abundance of gamey protein with which to eat, assuming you are not a vegetarian? In the Austin limits, they do Saturday's at Barton Creek, thus surfacing their loyalty to not the 2 SFC markets. On Sunday's, they are at the fine "artisan-ish-centric" Hope Farmer's Market on the East Side. They provide you with all of your favorite Indian prepared dishes in an 8 oz container. That being said, you can only assume that the curries, or whatever you may call them--curry, for this review (wouldn't you have me say curries rather than "sloppy, spiced mash-up?)--are indeed expensive. At least they are handcrafted! I will admit that my Indian senses do not have a discerning tingling, as Spiderman's senses tingle when he feels something has gone awry, so I cannot attest to the fare here being much better than that of a $10 lunch buffet. Those notes being noted, I will say that the naan is indeed quite well-prepared here, but being a "prepared delicacy", it loses that crispness you get from the fresh tandoor oven. The spinach pakoras, which are actually incredibly well seasoned, are a bit soft.. I have never been a fan of pre-cooked fried food indulged on in a later time period. The palak paneer and chick pea curries were awesome, though very price, as noted before. Give Lamba's a shot if you are a real Indian devotee. I love the flavors of this Eastern cuisine, but not enough to justify what I would pay at buying these at the FM. But again, it is amazing to find homemade naan to bring home! read more

This is my favorite stop at the mueller farmers market! We will never leave her stand without at least one thing, but usually we'll end up with three or four. She definitely hits it out of the park on classic Indian staples like garlic naan, chicken vindaloo, and various curries but nothing stands out more than her cilantro chutney. Pair it with her spinach pakora, naan, or get creative and put it on a taco or literally anything else, because it is so delicious you want to drink it in buckets. So again can't believe I have been munching on their food for three years and just now writing a review..... Shows I need to take my hand out of the pakora bag and write a review hehe.. So we (family and I) started at being a one bag pakora family to barely being able to be a two bag family. The pricing used to be $6.00 a bag, but now it is $7.00 for a bag. So with that said, knowing my future is soon to be three bags (one per person) and 21.00 dollars, it has kept my family from going crazy lol... The pakoras are not always the same, sometimes oily and sometimes dry. They are delicious none the less and we always eat them cold. The instructions do say you can heat the spinach pakoras in the oven, but who has time to wait that long? I used to buy a garbanzo bean tortilla from them, but the lady at the market yesterday looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it....... So I guess they don't make it anymore?! So sad! I also bought the eggplant & potato, cauliflower & potato, and lentAl "curries." ... I was hungry when I was there lol .. Over all w the three curries and 2 bags of pakoras it was $28.00 .... Not bad, Now idk if this is traditional and authentic Indian food, BUT every region of India different and so maybe this authentic for the owners of the company. I would definitely buy some food from here if at the market... And of course they have lots of samples. Oh yeah, they have meat options... But I don't like meat in my Indian food.. I get my Lamba's fix to-go from the Cedar Park Farmer's Market, where an extremely nice man launches samples in every direction. It keeps incredibly well, and you can keep it in the fridge or the freezer, depending on how soon you want to eat it. So many Indian food places are similar to Chinese takeout in that the quality is usually highly questionable, and thus you have no clue how unhealthy most of that stuff is. Fortunately, not only does Lamba's print its ingredient list on most every item, but the premade food most frequently contains olive oil! The spinach pakoras are amazing, battered in healthy chickpea flour. Just 4 minutes in the oven, and bam, crispy healthy pakoras. Everything here is good, especially the chicken vindaloo (ginger, potatoes, garlic) and aloo gobhi (cauliflower+potato+onion). Throw one of Lamba's pumpkin paratha in a large skillet or wok for a couple minutes on each side for a tasty treat. Good naan too. I love having these guys at the farmers market - thank you for bringing a wholesome approach to Indian food. read more

I've picked up things from this stand at the Farmer's Market several times. I've tried the pakora, several of the curries, and parathas. It's not the absolute best Indian I've had, but it's well prepared and packaged, and very tasty. I really like the pumpkin and potato and lentil paratha breads. They don't seem quite as authentic as other parathas I've had (which are layered whole wheat breads whole this is a larger very thin doughy tortilla type bread with filling) but it's super tasty. The fillings have a nice level of heat which goes well with the bread. I love to heat these up on the cast iron pan so they get crispy. They always have samples of the curries which is helpful. The spice level of the curries is a bit lower than many Indian restaurants to cater to the American palette, I assume. That works for me as I don't love super spicy food but something to keep in mind. read more

I'm a little sad that you're reading this right now, because it means you aren't at the HOPE farmers market buying Lamba's. Lamba's has become a staple in my diet because it's so delicious, and it all comes frozen so it can definitely last a while. I've had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, Kale Choley (black chickpeas), Spinach Pakora, and Royal Dip, and each thing I try seems somehow to be better than the last. The vendor is so sweet and will let you sample anything - though you probably won't need to, because everything is great. Dishes run from $5 (for the smaller containers) to $7 (for the larger ones). Make sure to bring cash! read more

The farmers Market located at the Tony Burger center has everything including yummy Indian food. The Stuffed Potato and Lentil Bread with coriander and funugeek was as delicious as I've ever had. The Cilantro Chutney was tasty and balanced, not to sour or sweet. One more item worth it...go ahead and buy that big bag of Spinach Pakora (gluten free) because it keeps in the frig and toasts right up to crispy perfection after 10 min. at 350. read more

DEEEEEE-licious! i've been buying lamba's prepared indian foods from the farmers' market stalls for a couple of years now and they are as delicious today as they were on the first day i tried them over at the sunset valley farmers' market. there are two things that make lamba's great: the food and the people! hitting the lamba's stall at the farmers' market is like an endurance challenge...bring your appetite. best i can tell, their sales plan is to let the food do all the work. when you walk up to the stall they just start shoving food in your mouth. every time, every stall, every salesperson. "oh, you like that? here, try this, too. try it on pakora. try it on parantha. here, give this one to your wife..." they are totally awesome and completely knowledgeable about the goodies they are peddling! the food is out of this world. i've had most of the dishes they offer - i know that because whenever i see something new i buy it, heh. delicious, spicy vindaloos, tikka masala...yesterday, i ate the greatest tomato sabji i've ever tasted. everything tastes fresh, even when you bring it home and reheat it. the price is fair. the entree containers are $5 and feed one person, if you add some rice or bread product. yesterday, we got 4 paranthas (2 potato/lentil and 2 pumpkin) and the sabji for $15. the wife and i destroyed them at lunch, but we still have a couple paranthas to spare. I was at the new braunfels farmers market a few weeks ago and picked up some palak paneer and chicken tika masala. I can tell it was frozen before it was out for sale but i didn't care was excited for Indian food I hadn't ate in a long time. The flavors are great and the spice is perfect. Sadly, I am freaked out by the hair I found in the palak paneer, when I dipped the naan into it and lifted it up with hair sticking out the green mush.... I lost my appetite :( read more

I came here last Friday. Was in the mood for Indian food and this truck looked promising. I ordered the lamb wrap. And proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. About 20 minutes later I realized that there was no line in front of the place, and that the two people working in the truck were doing nothing. I inquire as to the status of my order; they forgot about it. The guy apologizes and rushes my order out. In all fairness one of the other food trucks in the court had a severe grease fire or something and the fire trucks had to rush over. Starving, I munched down and wow, it was a really great wrap, albeit a bit sloppily put together. Perfectly seasoned, great flavors. Chewy, fresh bread and tender lamb. At this point I had forgotten that I had to wait as long as I did. I didn't care. The wrap was so good! Until I bit down on something that felt odd about half way through the wrap. I figured it was maybe a small bone or cartilage or an undercooked vegetable or something. About half a chew later I realized it was none of those things. It was a shard of glass. Now, look. I am a forgiving, generally non-confrontational person. I've worked in food service before and I can overlook a long wait or messy presentation, especially for a food truck. What I can't forgive is when an establishment that serves food endangers my life due to their incompetence. I have no idea how that shard ended up in my wrap (hopefully it was unintentional, but maybe they were annoyed at me for having the nerve to ask where my order was, who knows) and I really hope I was the only person to come across it. Lord knows a more intoxicated person could have easily ingested it. I was livid. I confronted the guy in the truck. He sheepishly apologized and didn't say much else. He took some cash out of the register to pay me back but didn't offer to cancel the debit transaction or make any attempt to recognize the gravity of the situation--again, there was a shard of glass in my food. That can mess up your gums and your throat and your intestines and your stomach and all that. It can put you in the hospital. "Sorry" is not going to cut it buddy. You're lucky I'm not a litigious person. Anyway, at this point I didn't care. I had already waited long enough for my food and just wanted to get on with my night. Not only do I not recommend this place at all, I hope it is shut down permanently. Which is a shame, because the actual food was quite good. You know, minus the whole part about them putting shards of glass in my food. Don't go here. I suggest any other establishment that has some sort of concept of "food safety." read more

I tried their food at the farmers market today and they have a sign advertising gluten free food. We tried some samples and then when we went to buy it to take home, they said all the gluten free offerings were gone. So they gave us wheat. My children are gluten intolerant and are on strict gluten free diets. We don't cheat and have a little bit here and there. We don't eat wheat at all. Please be more careful with your advertising. If you say it is Gluten Free, then make sure people are aware that the sample is wheat. read more

The chicken curry here was terrible. Didn't even taste like curry - more like a dark, thick, and incredibly too spicy stew. The basmati rice was of poor quality as well. Maybe the other items on the menu are better, but I don't recommend the chicken curry. read more

My first trip to Hope Farmer's Market yesterday included a visit with the wonderful gentleman at the Lamba's Royal Indian Foods. He let me sample everything, even though I told him I would just be getting something for lunch the next day. I could not make up my mind it was all so good. I finally picked out some Saag Paneer and two Besan Pura. Just had them for lunch and both were amazing. I heated the Besan Pura on my comal and it was perfect. So flavorful and perfectly balanced spices. The Saag was very spicy stopping just before it was too much, which is exactly how I like to enjoy Indian food. I loved both. I don't know if these products are featured at markets closer to me, but I will be looking. read more

When they tell you it's gluten free double check. Yes the food is great, but I'm a little disappointed that I was a just sold several items from their stand at Sunset Valley Farmers market that are full of wheat flour. Yes, I should have double checked and triple checked, but lost in fog of excitement and disbelief (rightfully so) as the sales guy swore EVERYTHING on the table was Gluten Free.
