Michelle worked closely with me to create a moving schedule that fit my needs, including packing my entire home and coordinating delivery to my new home. She was incredibly thorough when preparing the estimate, carefully calculating the packing supplies, number of movers, and overall logistics. She even had Bill come out to assess my new home and determined that because of my narrow mountain driveway, they would need to use two smaller trucks instead of one large truck. That level of planning made all the difference. The moving crews arrived on time and immediately got to work. They were organized, professional, and asked thoughtful questions whenever needed to ensure everything went smoothly. In addition to moving my household, they disassembled seven industrial storage racks in my garage and reassembled some in my new garage and others in the space above the garage. Every container was clearly labeled so the correct items went upstairs or into the garage, making unpacking much easier. I especially appreciated how accommodating the movers were with furniture placement. They were patient and willing to adjust pieces until everything was lined up exactly where I wanted it. Their attention to detail was outstanding. Both crews--the packing team and the delivery team--were professional, respectful, hardworking, and genuinely friendly. No games, no nickel and diming. I had my own truck, and it was a 700 mile trip, not one broken or scratched item, these guys packed well. Be careful of companies that say they're in Santa Cruz, but are coming from far away, then charge you for gas and travel time, again, these guys did none of that. Michelle at Lambert and Son was so helpful on the phone. I can tell this company is all about providing the right service. I was pricing out a very small move from Northern CA to Southern CA for my mom. For us, it was more cost effective to purchase the furniture new at the new location so we didn't end up using their service. However, Lambert and Son was the only place that took the time to look for ways to try to make it work such as bringing up an idea of using a small trailer to make it more cost effective or tagging along another move going south. Why I gave a 1 star is the two of the workers are work hard, but one worker dropped things at least two times, and didn't help a lot. I knew my new place have steps and narrow entrance and the sofa is heavy. However, the crews looks like no much experience, they didn't wrape the furniture. Even the soba is fabric, they didn't do any protection. The team has three crews, but only two men lifted the sofa, one crew just stand in the side and use his mouth. My sofa's fabrics were scratche. It left holes and some dirty marks. It makes me feel so bad. The company did not assigned enough crews with moving experience. read more

From Bill Lambert the owner to the excellent customer service I received from Michael their scheduler and especially to the crew led by Noel who moved us. They were on time and very personal and a joy to work with. Each member (6) were hard working and were able to pack our 4 bedroom upstair home in record time. Once we arrived at our new home the current owners movers were still there and Noel's crew were able to move us into the garages as planned until we remodel. We have used Lambert and Son for full move ins, container loading and, unloading for construction work and they are fantastic. Our jobs are usually pretty quick so the 2 hour minimum stings a bit, but I get it, they can't just go around doing half hour jobs and sustain the business so it's totally fair. They are very careful, super good at complicated angles and really fast. Bonus that the front office can usually squeeze my jobs in even when they are super busy. And they are usually very busy so call in advance. So much better and more safe than doing it yourself. Pivot!! read more

I chose Lambert & Son due to their great reviews. I suppose I am unlucky this time or others just haven't spoken up. Great group of guys...reasonable rates compared to other estimates I obtained. The movers need training however in handling furniture gently. They broke a shelf in an antique sideboard. Broke a leg on an armoire and when gluing it back together they got gorilla glue on my freshly refinished wood floors. They broke a leg on a queen bed. They chipped paint on an antique sideboard, and also chipped paint on a day bed. I am still unpacking...found three irreplaceable broken plates that their packer packed. That was the last straw..I felt I should say something but of course they only accept phone calls through a service. I feel bad about a negative review, but the owner of this company needs to pay attention to his hires. read more

They did such a great job and were such a pleasure to deal with, I had to try them again to move my mom from one apartment to another at Dominican Oaks. They came through for me again. Mauro and Jacob were on time, polite and efficient. They had a great bedside manner with my 90 year old mom. They moved everything in her apartment, packed or not, and got it in the same place in the new apartment. Except for the rehanging of the paintings, which mom wanted to supervise and get them in exactly the right places. Again, they were great with her. They were the only movers who wanted to come to my home to provide an accurate estimate. I have used Lambert & Son twice and in both cases they were really efficient and friendly. The team doing the move is super nice and you can see how they are very careful when moving furniture inside the house so as not to bang the walls or do any damages. I used Lambert & Son twice within one year due to moving to a new job. The first time I used it was last year this time, and the service was excellent (I was moving locally, so only a mile away). Since I was satisfied with last year's service, I decided to use them again for a long range move. I was very nervous about the move because, well, moves are stressful, and I had a lot of stuff including a queen-sized bed + some other furniture + a lot of boxes. My new place also is also on the fourth floor which has no elevator. I was wondering if they could do it. I scheduled a quick appointment with Bill Lambert, and he immediately said he could do it in under one week notice. He warned me about the city's limits with moving trucks, and I checked if I needed any special permission, and everything was fine, so we proceeded (thanks for warning me!) One the day of the move, Ryan and Matthew (two brothers) came at exactly the time of the scheduled move. I went to grab some breakfast so I headed out, and by the time I came back, they were almost already 80% done moving everything into the truck. They were even able to get two tricky piece of furniture out of my very narrow corridor. I was AMAZED by this, and I'm still mind blown on how they did it! Once we all arrived in the city far away, they again efficiently and professionally moved everything up four GRUELING flights of stairs. I have serious respect for these two because not only did they not complain ONCE, but they were doing it with a smile and some jokes to make it lighthearted. I am SUPER impressed with Ryan and Matthew, and I will not hesitate at all to use their service again in the future. Sorry to Ryan and Matthew's back beforehand though because those stairs must have been tough haha. I would give them 10/5 stars if I could.
