Ismail did not do what she said she took care of. This is after thorough back and forth communication. I had another expert double-check this vendor's work in my case. Looking at other reviews here, she may well have treated other customers well (I'm thinking perhaps her good reviews also include less-experienced pianists), but for what it's worth, in my case as a professional musician, I found her to thoroughly be a scam. This is a review for not only the quality of her work, but the lack of ethics for when faulty work -- and work that was outright not done but claimed to be done -- was pointed out sensitively initially, and then more explicitly when needed. There were no serious efforts at fixing problems created by her though she feigned care. I discovered that she lies, believably initially, but over time, it became clear that she's not sincere. In this process, I also discovered that Carol Ismail falsifies her credentials, listing UC Berkeley as where she earned a degree and even going so far as to say she taught at UC Berkeley; I found that both of these are false. Roll the dice with her or for about the same price, hire an actual RPT and perhaps someone who values honesty more?

The piano we ordered was shipped with care inside our house by the owners themselves, and they had the further courtesy to even test and install it while also explaining the specifics of our model and how to utilize everything (such as plugging in and explaining the temperature humidity control system, the petals and how to utilize them such as pushing one of them down then left to make it quieter, opening lid etc). We are ABSOLUTE beginners so we appreciated every single information they gave us even if others may find it obvious or common sense. To future pianists (or if you already are one) looking for a good pre-owned piano in Cali, they definitely get a 5 stars from me. The owners, Andrew & Bryan, without a doubt have a deep respect for the art of pianos shown by their skill (they played inside our house during the testing), care/reconditioning (the pre-owned pianos go through a thorough check by them which includes tuning and cleaning so you don't have to go through the hassle. I sent them pictures which weren't clear so they said they would come out to see my piano in person to give a better, more accurate quote. Aimee communicated with me through email and she was very responsive. Shawn came out to my house to review the piano. Shawn is very knowledgeable and pleasant person to work with. We're moving this Friday and he said that there wasn't enough time to fix the wheel. But he gave us directions on what we could do and gave us instructions on how to do the repair. He referred us to sites we can get our replacement parts as well as tips on how to fix our piano. The communication was excellent throughout. He kept me updated while he was en route and again as the work progressed, so I was never left guessing whether we'd make it. The string replacement and tuning were both first-rate, and Ramin took the time to explain what he was doing and why, which I appreciated more than I expected to. Genuinely nice guy, easy to talk to, and clearly knows his craft inside and out. I'm so happy with the repair Arvin did on my KAWAI piano!…read more The fallboard was accidentally damaged and a piece of the black polyester finish, about 1/3 of the size of a fingernail, was completely chipped off. Since the piano has a beautiful high-gloss black finish, I was really worried that even after repairing it, I would still be able to see where the damage had been. My piano tuner recommended Arvin to me, and I'm very glad he did. Arvin did an amazing job! When I got the fallboard back, I honestly couldn't even find the spot that had been repaired. The color and shine match perfectly, and it looks just like the original finish. You can really tell Arvin knows what he's doing. His workmanship and attention to detail are excellent. I'm very happy with the result and would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs piano finish repair or restoration.
