I paid to have my things stolen. I bought a lock from Public Storage but was not told it is common to put on wrong. I learned Public Storage regularly does lock checks because it's easy to see when people have done the lock wrong, and they add another lock for protection. The first thing the manager asked when he opened the lock for me was, Was anything stolen? When I said yes, he told me not to bother to file a police report because it wouldn't do any good. To even try to make an insurance claim, you have to file a report. I don't understand why there are not signs or any explanation about how to use the lock correctly in order to proactively avoid the kind of theft I had. I have used three different storage companies in the past and have never encountered this kind of situation. It's not like anyone is going to take the time to go over days of recorded security camera footage, so that kind of protection is also a waste. When you lose your things because you did not lock the lock correctly, you are not covered by insurance. I'm angry Public Storage did not even offer to refund what I paid for the lock, if nothing else. read more

Do you not rent from this storage place. Go down the street where there is no mold and friendly customer service. We were just hung up on by Public Service customer service 800 number. Rented from this location went to put our items in storage and there was white mold all over the walls. Still haggling for our refund they're lying about the charges and would not assist us in getting a full refund. read more

Keoni has been awesome. Super helpful ! My only problem with the place is the exterior doors and the sloped drive way . Cart rolling away from me with my possessions , while I was trying to open the exterior door or even unload my truck. I feel like public storage should provide a door kick to keep the door open when needed . Driveway is really steep in front. It would be very difficult to get a big truck in and out of there. Also, the elevator to my rental has been down for quite sometime. No way is anybody getting on the elevator without a code. Stop at home depot and get a good padlock ! The hallways are well lit. My unit was clean upon arrival . Again , Keoni has been super helpful and doing the best that she can. read more

I'm not a big Yelp user . But this seems the only way to make this point to these guys and warn anyone who is considering... do yourself a favor and DO NOT RENT FROM THESE GUYS!!! and if you do, then buyer beware! Short version; First they spray painted the halls and the overspray went into my unit through a big opening in the top section which painted my stuff white. I didnt really raise a huge fuss with them about it.. But afterward they raised my rent $30 a month without any notice whatsoever in one month! So I found another facility to rent space from. I cleared all my things out but for one thing which I cleared out on the first of the month at 7:00 a.m. to take to a different location...at which point the unit was vacated completely. I received a bill for a months rent that week!? When i inquired about it they said it was because the lock was on the door ON the first of the month. Ok so prorate a month then!!! even a week!!! ..ONE HOUR past gate open time does not equal one months rent in my mind! These guys are crooks!!! The lady I spoke with on the phone was kind enough. She said she would check to see if they could reverse the charge..They never got back to me. I caught it just before the charge went to collections. ( is this even legal!?!?! ) . . .Glad to say there are alternatives out there who do fair business and are not hard to find . I had only four days till I had to move a stuffed 10x14 from extra space storages that was great for the drive up convince of a way to costly price. The 1st public storage I had went to gave me outstanding service and to their best of their knowledge of the availability of what I was looking for at another public storage property. The owners of this storage facility rule with greed. I have rented here just over a year - JUly 2021 to July 2022 and they have increased the rental fee exhorbitantly -from 232/mo to 252/mon 4 months in and now 16 months after start 350/month. FOR WHAT? Because they can. The building has been paid for for years, the upkeep is minimal and no upgrades except interior wall paint have occurred. In fact they slaughtered all the greenery around the facility, so you have exposed dirt on the edges. COVID has been an excuse for unbridled greed for NO GOOD REASON. If you've lost housing in the most expensive rental market in the nation (yep that's SCRUZ) and you have to have storage - you are screwed. Go anywhere but here if you can. read more

Kay I think that was her name at the front desk on 1/24/22 was Super helpful. She was so kind enough to let me know that my lock was included to my online transaction! That is so awesome! The entire process was so swift and everything was online. I only came in because I wanted to purchase a lock and a beautiful surprise to know that it came with the space rental! This place is much more reasonable than the other place in town. I got a bigger space for a much better price. I am so far impressed of how quick and easy and swift everything was. I like the convenience of the flea market across the street but watch out!! 1) large trucks cannot turn around and backing out of their inclined driveway the truck easily gets stuck on the street from the bumper. According to them "this happens all the time!" And cost an extra $100 to have the truck towed off the street. 2) they conveniently raise their rates every few months once you have moved in. I do not think this is ethical at all. They raised the rates 2X in the last year and once your in there who is going to pay to move out to a cheaper unit? Not cool business practice! read more

It was frustrating so I end up buying one. Convenient location, clean, and lots of sizes to choose from, plenty of space in even the small storage units. There's always a parking spot right inside. The employee who usually works there, Erica, should be given an award for her excellent customer service; she is always friendly and super helpful. When my fiance and I found a great place to live at a very reasonable price in the Santa Cruz mountains, we had very little time to shop around for a storage unit as everyone knows how difficult it is to find a place in our area! Because I had rented a Public Storage on E. Cliff Drive in the past and had a 5 star experience, we assumed the same standards would apply for the one on Soquel Drive. Not even close. We rented it in the evening and moved in shortly there after, also in the evening (my fiance works until 6ish over the hill) and so it was difficult to really see anything. It wasn't until the weekend that we were able to go back in the daylight and what we saw was disgusting. In the very back parking lot, it looked like a mini tent city with a bunch of crack heads, their belongings all over the parking lot, cars filled to the brim obviously their living space. Don't get me wrong. I have a lot of empathy re: the homeless population, as we had experienced how quickly life can take over and you find yourself in a position you never would have imagined you would be in BUT this attitude of not giving a s***, carelessly destroying other peoples property is B.S. ANYWAY, I was then afraid of going to our facility alone and definitely not at night. That along with the fact that after 3 months of renting there, they bumped our rent from $153.00 to $180.00. We did not receive a notice, although they said they sent one out and they won't even bill you, so I seriously doubt they sent it. Because of that, we often forget to pay this one bill and end up paying $207.00 per month because that is the jump for late fees and that is for 10x15 that is a corner unit with a lowered, angled roof. Very difficult to work with. I loudly recommend shopping around - Brommer Street is clean, affordable, etc or even over the hill which is 1/2 the cost as it is in Santa Cruz. P.S. The staff on Soquel are unprofessional and anything but friendly. How can you blame them for having to work in despicable conditions?!? read more

Literally the worst storage facility I've ever been to. If you have longer than a 20 foot Uhaul, good luck getting it into the steep as hell driveway. Ours got stuck and we had to pay a tow truck to get it out. If you actually manage to get it up the driveway, good luck getting it out. It is practically impossible not to get stuck. Lord knows why a storage space was built at this location. read more

Yeah the other tenants are sketchy and some of them might live there. And if they don't live there, then they just really love hanging out in the parking lot in their free time. That being said, Erica is a delight. She's always available when I'm there, and ready to answer any questions I might have. The building over all is pretty clean and well lit. Since getting my unit the price has jump up quite abit which is why I'm moving out, If you only need to keep your stuff there for a month or two and don't plan to store priceless heirlooms, this might be the place for you. read more

Funny, I posted this review a week ago and then it disappeared! I found the staff to be pretty good and accommodating and the place has been clean and safe. (I am not on the 1st floor.) But the bills sarted out 225 a month after a little haggling over what had been posted on line and then after one year they shot up to 261!!! Be prepared for increases. I rented a unit today, Dawn was so helpful and patient with me. I was over two hours late to meet her, she called me to confirm I was coming. She asked for a detailed description of what I wanted to store, and then we walked in the pouring rain to see the unit I reserved. It was way to small. We then went back to the office and she took the time to find a unit that would fit my needs, at the lowest cost possible. She then walked back with me in the rain to look at the second unit. Erica is fantastic. She went above and beyond to make sure our unit was clean for move in. She is extremely personable and friendly. I've seen her give the same kind of attention to other customers. We felt like she was on our side. It would behoove management to give her as much support (and maybe more handcarts?) as possible so she doesn't have to perform her magic single-handedly. I have had bad experiences at other Public Storage locations, in particular with the woman staffing the one on Capitola Extension, but this one across from the flea market on Soquel Drive is great thanks to Erica. read more
