Great work and a personal touch that you don't get with the big companies. All I wanted was a bathroom faucet I already purchased installed. Curtis came out but we couldn't get the water to stop with the old, bad valves. We had to work with the condo association to reschedule for a day to turn off water for the entire building. Two days later, Curtis replaced the valves, installed the faucet, and tested everything and it all looks great. There were issues getting the old pipes off and a lot of it had to be sawed off, but he didn't increase the quoted price or charge extra for the earlier visit. Ashton Plumbing continues to be our plumber of choice. Whenever we call, he's always courteous and punctual. We have referred Curtis to friends, neighbors and other Yelpers and all reporting having excellent service. He recently came in a pinch to replace our failing sump pump during a torrential rainstorm. I called him at 8:30am, described our problem (failing primary sump pump) and he promised to be at our home by 10am. He arrived on time at 10am as promised and quickly swapped out our dead sump pump for a new high quality (larger hp) sump pump. Awesome service by a super courteous gentleman! I can't say enough about Ashton Plumbing who will be the ONLY plumber we will ever use. I'm a bit shocked that other Yelpers would leave 1-star reviews for a business based on the fact that they live outside of Ashton Plumbing's service area or due to his voicemail being full. I called Ashton Plumbing when my tenants reported a leak in the basement that had been going for two weeks straight. After I got done telling my tenants that they need to call me right away when something is wrong, I called Ashton Plumbing. Curtis answered the phone right away and was friendly. He arranged to go by the house and inspect the issue, and even worked with my flaky tenants who kept rescheduling with him. Curtis got to the house, inspected the issue, and called me with the bad news, $350 to fix a leaking joint or such. I gave him the go ahead and he went to work. He called me an hour later letting me know that the leak was fixed, and that it was actually less work than he thought and only charged me $165!!! Can you say INTEGRITY? I hadn't even seen the pipes, he could have charged me the original amount and I wouldn't have known, but he was an honest guy. Very next day I found a leak in my own house. I called Curtis, he made time in his day and came by. Once again, showed great integrity, courteousness, and friendliness. I'll only be using Ashton Plumbing from now on. read more

It's so uncommon to find an honest plumber that when you do, you feel like you /want to make them part of the family :). That's how I feel about Curtis Ashton. His combination of expertise, honesty.and friendliness is certainly a rare find these days. Both times I have used Curtis he showed up promptly. Not only did he find the root cause of my plumbing issues but, given the opportunity to do unnecessary work, he opted instead to explain the cause of the problem and why the work was not needed. It is very obvious from talking with him that Curtis has a lot of experience and knows what he is talking about. This review is based on my interaction with the business owner only. I recently had a negative experience with a plumber at John C. Flood, and wanted to get a 2nd opinion on the service that was provided so that we could just have all issues (if there were any additional ones) resolved at one time and get our gas turned back on. I ended up speaking to Curtis Ashton, the business owner. Initially, he told me it would be $125 for someone to come out and assess the situation. It was a bit high for what I was looking for since I already had 1 plumber come out. I ended up telling him the details of my ordeal, and he was able to clarify the questions that the JCF plumber would not respond to, essentially saving me the cost of having another plumber come out! read more

I called Ashton Plumbing when the plumber I had lined up bumped me for a bigger tile job he had. Curtis came out first thing the next morning and was right on time. I had a slow upstairs sink drain that was backing up with smelly water and two leaky water bibs over my hot water heater. Curtis started with the bibs as he had an expectation of what the issue was. When the house inspector (this is a new purchase for us) had first turned on the water bibs he inadvertently turned the nut loose. Curtis explained that this is a common issue and took the time to explain it all to me while showing me the proper way to fix it myself. Upstairs Curtis tried to avoid using the router rooter to save me money(there is a standard charge for that) but the drains were full of gunk and he did end up using it on 4 drains to catch the main clog. Man that made a mess but Curtis got down on his hands and knees and cleaned every inch, including under the sinks. Everything works great now and he is defiantly my go to plumber now! read more

Had a leak in the ceiling of our family room. Contacted Curtis on Thursday and he came on Saturday as scheduled. He located the problem by removing a few square feet of the ceiling and found a leaking water point connection. He went out to get the parts and returned to replace the necessary waterline fittings. The process took about 3 hours. Curtis was very polite and friendly and we enjoyed talking to him while also watching Syracuse win its 19th straight BB game. He came out immediately, helped us limit water damage, walked around the house with us to show us what we needed to watch and take care of - and even left us his water meter key until we had a chance to figure out insurance and he could come back. We had a leak from a rusted kitchen sink pipe that was leaking into the basement. He warned us about mold and mildew. He shared his experience with insurance agencies, what we should expect and the best way to handle them. Really helpful. I called Curtis Ashton because of the review on yelp and he was able to come out the next day to take a look at a loose faucet in my bathtub. I knew it was the piping behind the wall that was the issue, and not just the faucet's connection to the pipe. I was also working against the clock and needed this repaired within three days. He cut through the wall (no rear access), resoldered the pipes and set the connections to be nice and stiff. He then recommended someone to come and do the tiling on short notice, and followed that up by getting the new faucet and installing it right on time. read more

Ashton Plumbing snaked a drain for our clogged pipe that is under the sink that our washer drains into; it was 1 hour of work for $400. He used our shop vac to suck out the nasty water. I was expecting him to use his own equipment, not ours. Now our shop vac is gross and I have to clean it. He said he accepts credit cards, but he didn't accept it because of the surcharge, and we had to write a check. I think you shouldn't say you accept credit cards unless you really mean it. I think he did an ok job because he had an automated snake, but because he used our shop vac and didn't clean up the sink, we will be using someone else next time. read more

We made an appointment because of all of these great reviews and he called 15 minutes before the appointment saying that he forgot to add us to his schedule and made other appointments. For a single woman, water gushing down an inside wall is the stuff nightmares are made of. Factor in being new in town, being in the aftermath of the '09 Blizzard, it being the day before Christmas Eve with family flying in from the West coast, and I was stressed by the time I found Ashton Plumbing. I immediately reached Mr. Ashton, who patiently listened to my explanation of the issue and gave me a rough idea of the costs I could be facing for repairs. He assured me he would give a quote when he determined the exact issue once onsite. Mr. Ashton arrived exactly when he said he would, braving my unplowed gravel country road covered in 24" of snow, within an hour of my call to him. He promptly located the problem, which was much smaller than I had feared, and showed it to me while explaining the fix and cost. He was finished and cleaned up in a very reasonable amount of time. As a single woman, I fear being taken advantage of by contractors-especially in situations like these. I have plumbing contacts in my hometown whom I contacted for a price check on the quoted work. They both confirmed I was given a *very* fair price for the job, and considering the weather and it being 2 days before Christmas it was very, very fair price. In short- Mr. Ashton immediately responded, gave a fair price even with the post-blizzard weather conditions and the approaching holiday, provided an honest, quality fix and was clean and respectful of my home. This review was unfortunate and not for the work but for the customer service, because the guy sounded really nice and scheduled a near term appointment on a Sunday as I was getting ready to be unavailable for several weeks. It was a shower valve install and I was quoted a fairly significantly higher price than multiple other well known plumbing services, including the one I eventually used and the job was done really quickly and well. I give two stars because he attempted to work with me, but rescheduled twice after i took off work, saying he was sick (which I'm not denying, but kind of just speaks to the inconvenience of only having one employee). He offered a third reschedule but I decided not to deal with it anymore given the high quote and having to wait several days already before the first appointment and reschedule, thus wasting time i didn't really have to spare on my bathroom remodel and tiling project. Moral of the story would be not to schedule appointments you can't keep or to hire a backup employee. **called to explain situation, like I said he's a nice guy and dedicated to providing for his clients, will bump it to three for his persistence but if you want to make sure you get service in a pinch, might want to call a service with more backup** read more

CHECK YOUR SERVICE AREA. Called on a Thu and made an appointment for the next week. Texted him my address and asked for an estimate. He said ok. Nothing all weekend. On Monday he cancels, saying Alexandria is "too far", despite being in the west end and well within the service areas on his yelp map. Ok, sometimes maps are wrong. But you should have checked that in the beginning. You don't want to come, fine, but you should have told me that 4 days ago when I sent my address. Now I have to scramble for a replacement. Their work may be ok, I don't know. Be careful when booking. Seems like an ok guy, but it's clearly a one-man operation. read more

I really can't say anything good about Ashton plumbing except that he showed up, thus the ONE star for arriving. I hired him to replace an upstairs bathroom faucet and to fix a leaky washer cut off faucet. The upstairs faucet should have been an easy replacement. No leaks with the previous faucet. Just an update. However, after he installed it, it leaked. No matter what he tried, it still leaked. He ended up marring the new faucet in his efforts to fix the leak. After two hours, he put a bowl underneath the sink and said it would seal itself. Really? The next day, we emptied the bowl half full of water. My husband ended up tightening the valves under the sink. That's it. They were so loose it was riduculous. Not much faith in the guy after that. read more

Called Ashton in regards to a water heater that was only heating up to about room temperature as well as stinky water in the main bathroom shower. Instead of coming out and charging me time, he told me right On the phone that I probably need a new water heater and to not waste money getting it repaired.
