Picked Lambert's Lawn Care & Tree Service because their fancy advertisement card showed up in my mail. Card and ad quality lead me to believe this must be a reputable company so I gave them a call. Initially 'Joe', came out to give me a quote. He touted how many longtime employees they had and low attrition rate, the professionalism, blah, blah, using employees tenure as his selling point. Quote was for hours and men needed multiplied by their hourly rate. However, initially, they did not do everything outlined in the quote. What I got for $1000 was a little more than a glorified fall cleanup for which I usually pay $200. It was a minimal work request, clean out beds, trim bushes, edge-out/enlarge 3 flower beds, cut two small circles for 2 planted trees, mow and haul cuttings/brush away, no tree work. I don't have a huge yard with trees and bushes, with the right equipment, 2 men can knock all this out in 2 hours or less. Trimming included 2 mature hydrangeas one tall cedar, one boxwood, yews, rhododendrons and azaleas'. Initially, quote included mulching enlarged beds. I had to drop mulching to keep the budget under $1000. Now I know why Joe asked me how much I had to spend, big mistake giving him an answer, I'll never do that again. Originally I asked for more work, including one task I really wanted completed the most, a small area of ornamental grasses permanently removed. I was told it would cost 'a lot more' because special equipment was needed to dig them out. I guess I'll have to take care of it myself in the spring with some bush/weed killer. I got the feeling LLCTS didn't want to do a shred more without me pulling out more $$. The emailed quote had yard pictures with circled areas and descriptions of work. Of this illustrated quote, 2 beds were completely missed and not enlarged (8-foot half circles). One of the professionals left his dirty jacket draped over my boxwood after they left. One thing I don't do is stand over workers to make sure they are doing things right, I shouldn't have to with what I paid here. I'm not comfortable doing it as much as I'm sure they wouldn't like me doing it to them. When I realized they were gone and did an inspection, I called the office to tell them the job was incomplete and someone left a jacket on my bushes. I have to ask, is this how a well-paid professional crew operates? Everything they did (except for simple edging) I have done myself many times in the past, completing it all within a day or two, hauling everything to my local brush dump. I saw how easily one man did the edging, I'll be able to fix it in the spring. If I knew what I was getting for $1000, I would skipped LLCTS and stuck with my regular guy for my usual $200 fall cleanup. For health reasons, I went with a 'professional' service this time, hoping to get the ornamental grasses removed permanently. The only thing I needed them to do more than a fall clean up and mowing was edge out areas I needed. The edging they did was not nearly as big as I wanted, they did not ask and I made the mistake of assuming they knew what they were doing. It needed to be bigger so I don't have to go through this again in a couple of years (smh). As they say, if you want something done right, you need to do it yourself. Looks like I have another job I need to fix in the spring, edging the beds out bigger myself. Overall, Lambert's Lawn Care & Tree Service has left me very disappointed. Update: Someone from the company did show up after the weekend. (Really just 1 business day late, but he never notified us that he would be late.) He offered to repair any damage they caused. We decided not to have them back because the original experience was so bad, but I'm glad he made the offer. I'm changing from 1 star to 2, but don't really want to go higher, because it was not a good experience, and fixing the damage would have been very inconvenient. For instance, if they tried replanting the grass and bringing dirt in, it would have been mud because of the rain, and if it wasn't raining we would have had to water it, etc. We decided to de-thatch, plant seed, and trim the damaged tree ourselves...and hope for the best in Spring. He said they are planning to adjust so that this doesn't happen anymore. So, I'm hopeful that if others use this company they will have a better experience and I hope those customers give better reviews to bring the rating up. Original Review: Do not use! Avoid this company!! They torn up our back yard when doing tree work. They damaged our driveway and broke branches on other trees with their truck and didn't even bother cleaning up the break. They just left branches with ragged ends on the tree they damaged. They said they would take a look and fix things but never showed. Do not trust them!! read more

I had Lambert's do some shaping and trimming of trees in our yard. We did a walk-around on the day he came out to look at the job - about a dozen trees were being trimmed. Hired Lambert's, they were on time, did a really good job and cleaned up thoroughly. When they finish the job we did a walk-around and Joe explained how each of the different trees was handled. Got a date for 3 more weeks to wait. Got call day before job was to start to say he thought we should push job to end of August but he would come talk to me following day. Never came, never called. I called his office and received all kinds of excuses. Was told he would call me. Never did. Unreliable and unprofessional in the end. He had me fooled. Call any other company. Staff incompetent - on cell phone all the time! Owner used our full name & town on website without permission & won't remove it after repeated requests. Sliced off new fragile plants on several occasions even after we notified owner multiple times. Trimmed a single lilac bush 2 foot shorter on one side than another. Paid $50 hour per person to remove invasive lilies of valley - they pulled the leaves, leaving the roots in the ground! They were so bad next year, they invaded 1/2 the garden! They don't want to do hard work. They l left lawn furniture strewn all over yard. They say they will fix the errors, and never do. Multiple, multiple reminders week after week for weedwacking. Brand new car was 10 days old, worker sprayed entire car with debris from back pack blower. No offer to refund car wash.They don't know the difference between a weed and a plant! Need I say more?
