Finally got to try mochi donuts! I'm not really a dessert person but my friend convinced me to try them and I'm glad I did. The mochi donuts were made fresh per order which I really appreciated. It was crispy and fresh with the chewiness of the mochi inside. I tried the Matcha & Oreo and the Strawberry Pocky. They were both delicious. I would love to come back and try the other ones on their menu. I really liked the ambiance of this place. They had cute neon lights and cute posters in the store. It was clean and tidy. The server was very attentive and friendly. She always smiled at every customer. Also, I liked the music they were playing inside, very ethereal and nostalgic. I do wish they had seats for us because I can only imagine having to wait a longer time for the donuts when it's a busy time. It'd be nice to have somewhere to sit while waiting.
Driving by the picture on the window appears to look like a cream puff stuffed with ice cream but they also sell Mochi donuts. The flavours are posted on the wall as well as figures of the donut flavours are in a clear display case. We only picked up one, the mango mochi donut to taste as we had already picked up a couple at another mochi donut shop earlier. One mochi donut is $4.25. They had a Mother's Day special and those flavours looked really appealing but what would I do with five more donuts. I hear that it is best eaten on the day of purchase. The texture was a lighter chew and a bit smaller than those I tried at Mochi Doh. The flavour was really subtle. I liked the donuts more at Mochi Doh and theirs are larger even at 25c more. The service was quick. The mochi donut was hot. It came in a really cute box! Very lovely presentation even for one donut! It's in an ideal location in the midst of "dessert and food lane" and on the corner! It would make a nice gift because of the presentation of the boxes and it's not too sweet for friends or family who are sensitive to sweets.
Yesterday, while running a few errands, I felt like getting some mochi donuts. I headed over to LaMochi Sweets to get my fix before heading home. I got there at around 6 pm. There was plenty of parking. I backed into a spot closest to the entrance and walked in. This visit was my second time at this store. I noticed that the welcome mat has been removed since I was last there. I tripped over the corner edge that was flipped up the first time. If there's a way to trip, chances are that I'll find it because that's me. There was a young man sucking down a cold drink at the counter with a box of mochi donuts in front of him. He looked like he was waiting for a ride. There aren't any spots inside to sit down and eat. He was only drinking. I looked at the donut flavours that were available. I took a photo. There are laminated menus where you can rattle off your order. I find it easier to look at the photo and order away. I had a nice woman take my order. I got the following mochi donut flavours: - Mango - Crème brûlée - Black sesame - Strawberry Pocky Prices do run steep. My four donuts were just under $20 with tax. I tipped and paid with a credit card. All went well. This place makes made-to-order donuts. I waited patiently, admiring the ramune drinks in the fridge. It didn't take long for my donuts to be ready. The young man had left by the time my box of donuts were on the counter. I thanked the woman and headed to my car. I sat in my car and devoured the crème brûlée. It was my first time having this flavour. It tasted just like the dessert, but as a mochi donut. It was slightly sweet, soft, and yummy. The mochi inside each of the round balls forming the donut had the perfect chewiness. I loved it. These donuts are best eaten hot out of the fryer. I proceeded to eat the remaining three donuts when I got home. I have had the mango, black sesame, and strawberry Pocky before. They are my favourite flavours. The mango tastes fresh and real. The black sesame is sticky, but I love the depth of black sesame flavour that you get. The strawberry Pocky is delicious. I like the crunchy Pocky bits on top of the donut, contrasted with the generous layer of strawberry puree. So good! It was nice returning to get my mochi fix. This place is roughly ten minutes from my home. Luckily, I don't crave these donuts every day. I'd be so broke if I did. When I do crave them, this place doesn't disappoint. (62)
There is no shortage of dessert spots in the famous Midland/Finch plaza (iykyk ) but I decided to stop into LaMochi Sweets to pick up half a dozen mochi donuts for a family gathering. The cashier was friendly and service was quick. The space was set up a bit weird as the display case was right when you walked in, but the cash was a bit further in the store. The staff stayed at the cash to take our order so we had to run between the two spots as we picked our flavors. What we got: - Churro - Creme Brûlée - Hazelnut - Coffee - Matcha Oreo - Black Sesame Final Thoughts: I love mochi donuts because of their chewy texture and when bringing it to a family affair, the way that the donuts are made up of little balls makes it very easy to cut and portion. The price is pretty steep at $25 for a box of six, but I'll be back when in the mood to treat myself!
As part of AsialiciousTO there was a $20 deal for 6 mochi donuts and 1 bubble tea. The lady let me know that the drink would be redeemed at the Boba Boy in the same shopping centre and to just show them my receipt. There were 12 donut flavours to choose from. We went with match & Oreo, cookies & cream, milk tea, hazelnut praline, earl grey tea, and churro. The shop itself is a small corner unit in the foodcourt. There's a display case with the flavours that are available that day. On the side there were character donuts (Totoro and a bunny). The donuts were not as doughy as traditional donuts and had a bit of a chew to them. The flavours were hard to distinguish though. We managed to identify 4 of the flavours but weren't sure which was the earl grey tea and which was the churro. I liked that even with the different toppings on the donuts they weren't overly sweet.
Midland. Lots of parking. It was super quiet on a Sunday; the place is super cute! The mochi donuts are soft and crispy but chewy. Interesting texture but so good! Had the pandan and milo flavour - worth it! Mango was meh. Oreo was way too sweet. I'd try it if you've never had it. The best thing though on the menu by far is the pandan ice cream. Now that is worth coming by for.
I love all things mochi so of course I have to try out all the mochi donuts there are!! This place has decent mochi donuts, it is chewy and not too sweet! There is a good variety of flavours to choose from as well! I hope they explore new flavours in the future as I'd love to try more! My current favourite is the black sesame!
I've had mochi donuts from a few other spots in the GTA, but they do them different here! The donuts are baked fresh upon order, and overall I enjoy the actual donut here very much (more reminiscent to a donut than a Mochi!)! They are lighter/more airy in texture, have a slightly crunchy exterior, and opposed to the entire donut being soft and chewy you can taste a bit more separation between the regular airy donut batter and the mochi component (in a good way!) However I think on the flavour front, I do prefer some of their competitors-- the flavour selection here is smaller and not as unique, the flavour accuracy is not as good as Mochi Doh, and the vanilla/sweetness of the icing is more apparent. We got the Milk Tea Donut (2.5/5) and Thai Tea Donut 4/5) Plus, since the donuts are baked FRESH, the icing comes out dripping and thin-- but this is a trade food I'm willing to make since the donut itself is delish! Price: typically $4.25/donut (the limited tea series was $5/donut)
Located in a strip mall filled with other restaurants and bubble tea shops, la mochi sweets serves up delicious and fresh mochi donuts with sweet and unique flavors. We got to try 6 different donuts. The donut is nice, it is both light yet has a decent chew due to the mochi. 1) black seasame - delicious sweet and strong black sesame flavor. 5/5. 2) hazelnut - really great hazelnut nut flavor, kind of like Ferraro rocher topping. 5/5. 3) creme brûlée- surprisingly not too sweet, nice egg flavor. 4.5/5 4) Oreo - didn't come across as Oreo flavor. Was just okay - 3/5. 5) strawberry pocky - this one felt controversial. It did not taste like strawberry pocky but the strawberry jam on top was still really good. 4.5/5. 6) Fruity pebbles - taste is on point just not my favorite. The cereal does get soft quickly if you don't eat it soon - 3/5. Price is $5 per donut. read more
My gf bought a dozen assorted mochi donuts for my bro's bday. LaMochi has been around a while but for whatever reason, I've never ventured into the shop (someone brought em to a wedding I attended and I tried some back then). Anyways, the notable flavours that ranked high for me: Black sesame (my personal top rated) Coffee Chocolate Oreo Overall, the donuts did lean toward the sweet side as a whole but those 4 flavours stood out because they were less sweet than the others in the dozen. The fruity pebbles flavour w/ all the fruit loops attached to it was kinda hard to eat haha. The creme brulee flavour didn't really remind me of creme brulee. The matcha and oreos one could've been a really great combo but the matcha wasn't dark enough for me lol. It was cool to try a dozen flavours. Would eat em again if someone purchased these but don't think I'd go out of my way to buy for myself. read more

Cute little deserts shop with cool decorations. All donuts are so cute as well with great presentation. Ice cream has a lot of flavors, such as tiger tails, birthday cakes etc. also got a soft serve, very smoothy and delicious. Service is great and fast. Kids like it here read more

Their Mochi donuts are soooo good! So many interesting flavours like Strawberry Pocky & Matcha Oreo They have the perfect chewiness, even eating it after 4hours from the oven they still tasted fresh. Highly recommend LaMochi! read more

Pricy donuts but they were alright. $25 for six of your choosing. They need to hire another person there. We were there during a non-busy hour of a weekday and it seemed a bit busy. One person making the donuts and taking care of the customers behind the counter is not enough. read more
January 12, 2023 - I had tried LaMochi donuts as a good fair in Markham and they were so yummy! I got the chance to get it again for a Yelp Event. I got Crème Brûlée, Matcha & Oreo and Hazelnut. My favourite was the Hazelnut. Next time I want to try Mango and Black Sesame. read more

I placed my order with them through Instagram which was a gift for a friend. It took a couple days for them to actually see my initial message - I had to call and let them know I sent one but after that they had very timely responses. I was able to get three flavoured (milk tea, black sesame and creme brûlée) Mochi donuts and three custom design ones. I sent them a couple pictures of BT21 characters that I wanted and they turned out so cute! The custom design donuts are limited to the plain vanilla flavour which my friend said was just OK in flavour but she really liked the three flavoured ones, especially the creme brûlée one. read more
If youve been following my food adventures, you know Ive been all over mochi donuts. And i have to say, LaMochi is pretty up there on my list. Even tho its all the over across town from me, ive been venturing out to get my fix. Its located in a mall that id never notice or go to. But now i do whenever in the area lol they make the cutest customize mochi donuts (e.g. pokemon, sailor moon, star wars). And theyve got their mochi donut recipe down. Super airy and fluffy, chewy but not dense. Other than the flavours on their menu, theyre always trying out new ones, so call and ask what they have in the back when ure feeling adventurous. Recently tried their mochi-eclairs! What a genius creation! Love those too! Great spot for tasty mochi donuts in the Midland/Finch area. The inside feels very spacious, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I got a box of 6 mochi donuts of assorted flavours, and all of them were tasty. Truth be told, mochi donuts tend to be on the sweeter side so often I can't distinguish the flavours well, but the sweetness pairs well with the softness and mildness of the mochi itself. I think the churro one was my favourite (also their best seller) because it was the least sweet. All in all a great experience, can't wait to come back to try the rest of their flavours! read more

It's definitely a must try! Maybe not your daily coffee and donut kinda deal, but definitely every now and then. The staff here are all really friendly and nice, plus they're fast paced and quite thorough with making their donuts. I didn't have to wait long at all for my donut. Now, more about the donut. It's the perfect amount of everything. I'm personally a big fan of Mochi, which is why this is a must try for Mochi lovers. The donut itself wasn't too sweet, and the icing was just slightly sweeter, making the perfect compliment to the plain donut. The cookie toppings were also all bite size, making it easy to eat without making a mess everywhere. Another bonus, is that the donut can be pulled very easily to make bite size pieces if you want to share. I will be visiting again sometime! read more

New mochi donut place in town! Price is comparable to the other places at $4+tax each. Quite a selection of flavours and I got the matcha Oreo to try. The donut was pretty hot when I got it and overall tasted fresh and perfect chewiness and not too dense. Because the donut base was pretty hot, the glaze was quite melty but it didn't take away from the flavouring and tasted great. I would be back to try other flavours. read more
When mochi desserts got big, I was never into the mochi cookies but this is SO GOOD. The texture is amazing! You can even lightly heat them up in the microwave and it's just as chewy as fresh. I love how I can peel each little ball and eat every flavour a bit at a time in one sitting Haha. The girls who work there are so nice. They also own (I think) the Boba boy across the hall so go support them too! read more

We were just around the area and decided to get something to munch. So we got two donuts and it was yummy. Its nice and fresh and chewy. The lady was very helpful and the service was quick. As for the store ambiance itself, its small but very simple and cute read more
I never knew Mochi can be donuts but here we are in the middle of a South-east Asian mall with an East Asian cafeteria. Interesting combination, and glad to find these mochi donuts! Mochi Donuts ($4.5 each): Matcha & Oreos Golden Strawberry Ube If you've ever had krispy kreme donuts fresh from the conveyor belt, these donuts are reminiscent of that thin crispy shell hiding the airy, and fluffy dough inside. The mochi donuts go an extra step in the fluffy department, and your first bite becomes an experience in itself. The donuts are heavenly themselves and the toppings give an extra punch of sweetness with whatever flavour you prefer. I did find some of the flavours become too sweet where I find myself looking for water half way through one donut. If La Mochi can develop a lighter glaze, it would be a sugar covered cloud to die for. read more
I saw this place on social media and decided to check it out. I was surprised to find it in a strip mall of this kind... Reminds me a little of Pacific Mall, or at least that type of layout. To be honest, this little dessert shop seemed a little out of place (as well as the Boba Boy and sushi shop nearby). Service was quite friendly here as we were greeted quite instantly, told about current promotions, and offered adequate time to make a decision. Upon first impression, these aren't the most aesthetic donuts of their kind from what I've seen... But of course, the most important aspect is their taste and texture. It should be noted that this place pre-fries their donuts but then dips-to-order meaning that upon first receiving your treats, the glaze is very wet and sticky as they do not afford any time for them to harden before sending them off to the customer. Personally I wasn't a fan of this as it meant the donuts got easily ruined in transport and were also not optimal to eat right away. Speaking of the glaze, this was the most flawed part of the dessert since they were more sweet than flavorful. The cookie version was better as the crunchy Oreos afforded a contrast in texture, but the hazelnut version could have used a heavier coating of nuts for flavor. The best component of this was undoubtedly the mochi donut base itself as it was chewy, as promised, without being overly greasy. Odd Location | Made to Order | Expensive Living in the suburbs we don't have access to the same trendy foods as downtown Toronto. So when I heard there was a mochi donut place in Scarborough I had to find it. LaMochi is located inside the Majestic Centre which is a south Asian mall. It's located at the core of the building but it was all kind of random. Even the business stall while decorated nicely has a sheet hanging up blocking what I assume is the kitchen? I felt a little uncomfortable because it looked kind of sketchy but I went with it. These donuts are $4.50 each - looking back that's kind of outrageous. I only went through with the purchase because I said it would cost more for me to go downtown to try these mochi donuts. They were pretty good and each had their distinct flavours. They were chewy like you would expect mochi to be. Would I try them again, probably not. We're they a good one time experience, yes! LaMochi, if you're reading this you guys should try to get a stall or food truck going at the STC food truck fest. read more
This place did not disappoint. I have been to several places that make mochi donuts and by far this place really tops the cake. Forget Isabella's. This place kills the mochi game. When I ordered I had to wait a few minutes because they were made on the spot. When I received them the donuts were nice and hot. The dough is the perfect mixture of gelatinous and soft. The toppings even tasted fresh. They seem to even use fresh ingredients for their toppings - their strawberry actually tastes like real puréed strawberries. No stale tasting oreos! There's no seating in the facility but if you are trying to impress any mochi loving person bring these over! The price tag is a little bit high for each donut but I'd be willing to pay. Would definitely come back to try again. read more
Amazing donuts! The flavours are so prominent and the mochi is deliciously chewy! Heard of good reviews from some friends and it did not disappoint. The deal right now is $3.65+tax per donut or $22 no tax for half dozen. I've tried mochi donuts before but I must say these ones are the best I've had. When I got them, they were still warm and it tastes amazing when it's warm. Definitely give this place a try. I'm going to come back to try their other flavours. read more
I received this as a gift for my birthday from my girls and it was wonderful! Got to try: Mango mochi - delicious, must order Mango mochiclair - decadent, and very good Strawberry mochiclair - love the Pocky sticks! One of my fave flavours Cookies n creme - thumbs up! Hazelnut praline - subtle and good! Overall a great place to try mochi donuts. I might say they were a little better in texture than Isabella's (but I do LOVE their donuts and how the flavours change weekly) since it was chewier and I like that. read more
If you're looking for Mr Donut mochi donuts from Japan, these aren't it! These donuts all start with the same base but are customized by the glaze they put on top. The glaze sit in a warming tray waiting for them to use it next. For the customized character donuts, they require you to order at least 1 day in advance. These donuts are light and chewy.The black sesame donut has a lot of sesame flavor but the milk tea one is lacking. It only tasted of fried dough. My partner thought it was supposed to be chocolate based on appearance and the lack of flavour. For the price, they are up there with all the premium donuts out there like Daddy-O-Donuts and Donut Monster. Average price is 4$ per donut and there is no real discount for ordering 1/2 dozen or full dozen. I would say these donuts aren't worth the price and you maybe paying for the novelty and experience of the mochi donut. For the location, it is located in the middle of the mall and may be difficult to find. If you're in a parking lot with a lot of Indian stores in the plaza, you're in the right place. Right now due to covid, they do not get a lot of walk in business but they do see a lot of online and mobile orders. You can walk in, order on one of the food apps like Uber eats, mobile order or through their website. I called ahead to see what flavours they had available and leaned that they dip each donut to order! I ordered when I got there and only had a short wait for my donuts. Compared to other mochi donuts I've had these aren't as light. Their flavours are actually quite decadent as well. The icing & toppings just tasted sweet, except for the black sesame which packed a strong flavour! All in all, they are just alright. Heard of this place through blogto and decided to check it out since it was close by my house. The flavours I got were milk tea, hazelnut, cookies and cream, and matcha and oreos. Ordered in store and took about ten minutes, but the donuts were warm and fresh. They were very chewy and not too sweet, honestly do not have anything bad to say about them. Came back a second time and tried other flavours like vanilla bean coffee, creme brûlée and black sesame. My personal favourites would have to be milk tea and creme brûlée. Also gave some to my friend who was trying mochi donuts for the first time and they loved it so much! Definitely give these donuts a try, there are many flavours to choose from and 3.65 each or 22/half a dozen and 40/dozen. Will definitely be back when I'm craving mochi donuts! read more
