Located at a corner of a very small plaza. I just wish they had one open in Markham. Came here on a weekend to pick up two slices of cakes. I love their cakes, they offer a variety of flavors. Got their mango cheesecake and 3:15 which is one of my favorites. My kids love their mango cake as it's layered with fresh mangoes and jelly. 3:15 is hong kong milk tea and I could certainly taste the hint of milk tea, not too sweet. Most of their slices of cakes are $7.75 each which is a little bit pricey so I don't get them too often just on special occasions. I'm not a big fan of macaroons but I've purchased them before to give to friends. They make them super cute, highly recommend checking this place out if you love macaroons!
Earlier this month, I wanted to get some macarons for a friend. It was a Saturday morning. I ventured out to a different place and noticed that it only accepted orders by appointment. Bummer. Plan B? Daan Go Cake Lab. This store was roughly a block north from the closed one. This cake lab is in a plaza with one-way traffic. I was pleased that I found a spot fairly close to the main entrance. I backed into this spot and headed inside. I was happy to see so many cute macaron varieties. Yay! It was tough to decide what to get. I went with six macarons. I got two each of the following: - Roasted milk tea (panda) - Black sesame (octopus) - Salted caramel (lion) I got the nicest woman who helped me with my order. She asked if I was a rewards member. I wasn't, but I signed up for it. You give your phone number every time you order anything from here. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and all was done. She placed the macarons in a nice box, and then placed the box in a paper bag with handles. I thanked her and left. My friend loved the macarons. Her favourite was the roasted milk tea. She had visited Paris a few months ago. For her to say that they were excellent was a good sign. I didn't realize that it came with a booklet of all macaron flavours until I ordered a box for my friend and me to share the following week at work. Yes, I visited this store twice in less than five days. I'm in macaron mode. I still am! I got the following flavours (two each) for us: - Roasted milk tea (panda) - White peach (cat) - Salted caramel (tiger) I am the only one in our group of three friends who has not been to Paris. My friend and colleague was there in September. He asked me what he should get when he was in the city before he left. I said macarons and anything in a bakery. He did get macarons and loved them. We ate all our macarons before lunch... haha! We loved all of them. I especially loved the white peach. So good! This place makes excellent macarons. It also has cake. I wouldn't mind getting one. You can also get slices if you don't want to devour an entire cake. A few years ago, on a Monday, my manager sent me an instant message and asked me where he could get a cake for his daughter's birthday that day. I wasn't thrilled that he waited till the day of her birthday to get a cake. It was also a Monday. Many bakeries like taking Monday off. Thankfully, this place was not. I suggested coming here because I've always wanted to get the tiramisu cake. I don't know what he got for his daughter. He told me that it was an excellent suggestion and I should suggest good eats for a living. I always had a feeling that this place was special. Christopher Siu won Masterchef Canada. It shows in the macarons and the care that he took with everything that he made on that show. I have finally tried the macarons and they are divine. I'll be back for cake (maybe not the durian one) and more macarons soon! (417)
I was gifted an amazing Daan go cake for my birthday, from my friend. I loved how realistic looking the bubble tea cake was. Flavor wise it was just as amazing as it looked. I love the way they provide unique cakes. I would definitely come back here and purchase these as a gift for others in my life. Thanks!
If you're a fan of Asian flavours in pastries, Daan Go is worth many visits. I've only ever ordered to go from here, and it's never disappointed. It's worth ordering in advance for anything larger, but the selection is abundant even when you walk in. The interior is very clean which allows you to focus on the cute baked goods they have in their display. Service here is efficient and welcoming; I'm always satisfied when I pay a visit!
It's Christmas time. My hubby gave me a great surprise with Daan Go cakes. We like their cakes because they always have new cakes and it always gives us surprised. It's not only a cake, but also delivers joy and fun. We like to guess what's inside and tear it one layer by another. This time Raman is the new one. The 2 pieces of chopsticks, Japanese decor on top are white chocolate, noodles tasted like mousse and some sweet pears at the bottom. The soup bowl is dark chocolate. Inside was a bit sweet, and dark chocolate outside could balance it at the end. We like to try again.
Have to get in early otherwise the selection dwindles, or preorder what you want! My toddler loves the pistachio dragon and we've gotten 6packs of just the dragon several times. The staff are always pleasant! Their holiday selection are extra cute with festive decorations on the characters.
Do not come here if you want real mooncakes. Do come here if you want desserts shaped like mooncakes. We had coconut, sesame, hazeulnut, pistachio, sesame, and other flavours. These cakes were so tasty and had cute designs.
Macarons so cute and so good! Can't go wrong to pick a few flavours to try. We tried a few of their cake flavours as well (pandan, mount blanc and 3:15) - I like how their cakes are light and not too sweet. They all have their distinct flavours so it all depends what you like. Small note, the mount blanc has a grainy texture and it was our least favourite out of all the cakes we've tried. - their durian cake is worth a try too if you like durian One of our favourite cake is their strawberry shortcake! I hope they bring that back during the warmer seasons. I'm happy they're expanding and they have a location closer to me in Richmond hill!
I ordered the durian cake for my birthday and it was OMG so amazing! If you aren't super into durian, this might not be the cake for you - they were really generous with the durian. I'm impressed by how they shaped it like a durian and layered the durian between the cake (it was a lot of durian - almost 80% of the cake)! Note it does taste (and smell) much stronger if you have it at room temp. For best results, pop it in the fridge and it will taste like you're eating frozen durian ice cream cake. Chef Christopher designs one of the most aesthetic cakes that cater to Asian flavours (or for those who don't like desserts that are overly sweet). This cake completely blew me away. Deserves another star for me.
Daan Go is the place to go for Asian flavored cakes, pastries and ice cream. They always seem to be doing something new and innovative which provides a fresh perspective and stunning desserts. The macarons were a beautifully and cutely crafted set. Make no mistake though, the flavor is spot on and just as good as the design. The cookies were light yet had a nice crisp. The filling is smooth and creamy with the flavors being represented accurately. Love the Asian flavors. We also had the chance to try their tiramisu in a cup. Super cute and eye catching design. Flavor is also on point. The marshmallow cat is the best part! Price: It is on the more expensive side but the quality and uniqueness makes it worth it!
The cutest packaging and presentation! I waited to preorder the gold thorn as it was sold out for a week (must be really popular). Also got a mango cheesecake slice too. The gold thorn was mindblowing!! 10/10. It was incredibly CREAMY and smooth with concentrate flavour. The flavour and aroma is so intense, it's like you're eating the real thing but in mousse form. Impressed that they use 100% durian puree. For $7.50, it's worth the price! And the rest of the layers were all light and delicious too. What a treat! The mango was okay. Smooth too and yummy, but taste more like a mango mousse than a cheesecake? I was confused to where the gold flakes were... Tip: check into Yelp to get 5% off your order!
Our go-to place for birthday cakes for the family! My parents have historically been used to fruit case and Black Forest cakes from asian bakeries that were $20-25.. and my brother and I were getting tired of them. Through Daan Go's incorporation of asian flavours, my parents have been willing to try new flavours trusting it won't be too heavy or too sweet! Their favorite is the Mont Blanc but they liked the peach and osmanthus jelly in the Peach Garden too! Just depends if they're in a fruity mood. I was able to walk-in same day without pre-ordering. Thank you Daan Go for saving us from less complex/flavorful cakes.
You looking for the cutest macarons that your eyes will ever be graced with? Thanks Daan Go for existing. If I had the means, I would've bought every macaron. But anyway my favorite was the Vietnamese coffee and hazelnut chocolate :) Nothing else left to say, except it was amazing.
I pre-ordered the "Pandan Paradise Cake" for my mom's retirement and everything about it was amazing! The website is easy to order from, and since my brother picks up the cake, the instructions make pick ups very simple between the two of us. The first thing my family and I noticed was that the pandan was very aromatic, but not overpowering. The cake and mousse cream didn't have an artificial colour to it, and there was a very nice balance of fruity flavours with the mango compote and coconut graham base. The mango compote was different (texture-wise) but delicious nonetheless! Most importantly, my mom enjoyed it and as "every Asian parent" says, this cake is definitely not too sweet nor heavy, and the portion was great for 4 of us (we got the 5"x3" cake [6 servings]). read more
Daan Go is always a great spot for asian desserts and cakes for birthdays! I love how their baked goods aren't too sweet. I ordered these limited edition mooncake set for mid autumn moon festival and it was delicious! I loved the use of unique flavours like white peach. The staff are friendly as well with lots of parking in the area. The shop is small though. read more
My friends ordered me the celebration pig cake to jointly celebrate my bday and also ring in chinese new year. It was so beautiful that I didn't want to cut into it! The chocolate exterior had rivets in it which really perfectly mimicked the crispy skin texture of a roast pig LOL so that was a pretty cool technique. As for the flavour of the cake itself (raspberry chocolate mousse), it was just right! All my friends thought it was good and not too sweet. I liked that there was crackly texture thing goin on in between bites. I think there was nuts in the mousse layers. A welcome addition! I celebrated my bday at the Keg and when we told the staff to put it in the fridge for us they all exclaimed how cute it was and thought it was an actual roast pig LOL. I ordered the 3:15 cake to bring to Christmas dinner and it was very convenient that they were open Christmas day. I really like the wide variety of cakes they offer, I always have a hard time deciding which to order. I've ordered the 3:15 and the Tiramisu and both times they were very popular and well liked. The cakes I've ordered were bursting with flavour without being excessively sweet, which is difficult to pull off. They look great and we've always got to have a photography session before cutting into them. I always appreciate that they decorate the cakes with macaroons since those are also tasty and fun to eat! I'll definitely be ordering from here again when I need a dessert to bring to dinner! read more

Ah Daan Go. Always a little disappointing. Never reaches 100% potential. We ordered a 3:15 cake (milk tea flavour) for Valentine's Day and they spelled Valentine's wrong on the chocolate plaque. The cake flavouring was good but beware because of the consistency, the decorative macarons on top should be eaten asap/removed asap otherwise they do get a bit soggy. Couldn't really taste what flavour the macarons were. I do really enjoy the base layer of the cake though. The rest got a little too dense if you have too big of a serving. read more

My review is based on my cake on-line order experience. https://www.daango.com Daan Go now offer on-line order of their pastries - the process is very easy. You pick the product you want and input the postal code, and it will tell you the delivery cost. It is free if you choose to pick up in store. You can choose the date and time slot for the pickup. It accepts Apple Pay and credit card payment. The signature cake include a free message up to 5 words. Once I ordered, I received an email that they received the order. I got a confirmation email within an hour. Same day order and delivery is available, but they recommend to call the store to ensure availability. I went to pick up at the agreeable time and the cake was ready. It's so convenient to send some love and birthday wishes to friends in this pandemic. They have the best durian cake in town! read more

It is tradition for me to get a durian cake every year for my birthday so I was super excited to see a durian cake option at Daan Go, and even better it's shaped like a durian! As a durian lover, I absolutely approve of this cake. It is creamy with various textures as there is a cake layer and then a flaky layer at the bottom. Everything tasted wonderful together. I would say that it was a bit smaller than expected given the price point but I understand as durian is pretty expensive. I will definitely get this cake again for sure. In addition to the cake, I also picked up some Hong Kong milk tea and it was delicious as well. The tea flavour was strong just how I like it and tastes really authentic. Not to mention the packaging is super adorable - will reuse the bottle. read more

This cake was pretty amazing and it smelt pretty authentic. My fridge ended up smelling like durian from just storing the cake in it. That's how you know the use the good stuff. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. It is way better than it was a few years ago. read more
I would say this is definitely a cute cake shop. The cakes and macarons look delectable. Seeing this cake on social media I did order it $40 including the tax. I saw Yelper Bernice C. ordered the cake a month ago and receive 3 free macaroons to try. The macaroons were not specific to Durian flavour. So I asked in store. They told me they gave a while ago durian flavoured macaroons??!!!?? And that they did not do that anymore? That did not seem consistent to the Yelp review I read. So I didnt bother press the store operators further. I arrived 15min earlier than my advised time. They still had not prepared the label for the cake and took about 5-10min to do it. Looking at the chocolate label they made a mistake and added as "s" to a name when the order clearly spelled Dominique. I had hoped it was hand crafted. From the description described to be filled to the brim with durian. The cake was mostly mousse. I was pretty disappointed on the overall size. See photo next to hand. Pretty overpriced for that scale size. The mousse cake was made in a mold and frozen to create the shape and dusted with gold. There was no green. Because of the freezing process in the mold to shape the cake, the mousse inherited a flan-like texture rather than the fresh mousse texture. For taste, yes it tastes like durian but because durian is shipped from frozen somehow in the handling it had a bit of bite to the taste, similar to eating the eye of pineapple. It would have been nice for the from frozen durian texture to be enhanced to be more similar to fresh durian; just add some filler of gelatin to make the durian texture simulate to the fresh fruit. Value 1 (expensive for size) Taste 3 (finishing was like eating a pineapple eye) Texture 2 (after freezing the mousse, texture was flan-like) Overall, pretty simple cake. Could be better. From frozen cake like a La Rocca. Pretty much paid $40 for a tiny jello-molded cake. read more

I got the Tiramisu cake for my sibling for his birthday. The cake looked absolutely adorable and tasted great! Staff at this location are extremely friendly and if you pay with cash, you can get 5% off. I would love to come back to try their other cute desserts. read more
I've been hearing about Daan Go's pastries for quite a while and have seen posts online of their beautiful pastries but I haven't made it there, yet. I was, however, fortunate enough to be around a friend's new business when a friend of hers brought over some pastries. They were definitely pretty and yummy looking! I had the chance to try all four pieces of cake that she brought. My favourite was the mango, but the others were definitely as delicious. They were all very tasty without being too sweet and the flavours were very distinctive. Even the packaging was very attractive! I will definitely have to go there myself to see what elsre they have to offer and try more things! read more

This bakery is opened by a Master Chef Canada Winner so you already know the cake here is going to be BUSSSIN! I love how they celebrate and bring forth asian flavours and really taking Asian bakery cakes to the next level in taste and design! I know the durian cake is not everyone cup of tea but if you are - you definitely need to come check them out because it is DANK!!!! My mother loved her birthday cake and enjoyed every bit of it and you know that was was demolished really quickly! read more
SNACK I am really late to the party for this place but better late than never! Got the macaroons that everyone was raving about and damn they are good! Went yesterday for the first time and thought it was just gonna be a one and done after I posted a pic of the cuteness. Welp yelp, I was wrong. We Came back today to get another box lol. And will probably be back again in the near future! Must try this place if you're in the scarbs. Tip: the parking lot is a one way so be extra careful pulling in, make sure you enter from the entrance furthest from Daan go and exit at the exit closest to the store. Environment: okay, so in that plaza, there was a cafe store that was packed and then there's a cake lab section behind it. There were arrows that escorted us. It was very small but that was because it was mainly a bakery. Staff: they were overall nice. Food: They were well known for macaroons but I personally don't like macaroons because they're sweet so I passed on that. It was also very pretty. I got "diamond" which was the dark chocolate hazelnut cake for $6.50. There were multiple layers and the the flavor was nice- not too sweet. I also got the 3:15 cake because it said milk tea and found that to be interesting. I could really taste the milk tea. However, there was one section of the cake that was extra sweet (it was the hard part..maybe the base of the cake). If they could lighten up the sugar, that would be great. This slice was also $6.50. I would go back and try some more desserts and it's also close to where I live. The cafe food looks good too, perhaps I will try it in the future when I visit again. read more

Hands down my favourite spot for quality macaroons! Daan Go Cake Lab macaroons remind me of my childhood with their Asians inspired flavours. I would recommend their coconut pandan, matcha , and Vietnamese coffee. read more
Nice shop with a large display case with all the macarons and cakes. A good amount to select from with cute designs. The person helping us was friendly and wrapped up our order of macarons quickly. A box of 6 macarons for $20CAD. The macarons were creative flavors and they all tasted great. Kept in the hotel fridge during our visit and pulled them out about 15 to 20 minutes before eating them. Would recommend as well as go again next time I'm in Toronto. read more
