After having the crab cake sandwich we would recommend doing the platter because the bread overpowers the crab cake. Everything was incredible, the flavors, consistency, and quality. It is for sure comfort food but nothing sits heavy and feels super fresh. Not a fan of coleslaw but it was super yummy and great corn fritters for our first time having them. Service was great. Ambiance was super informal and adds to the vibe of what you're eating. Also unrelated but the cashier/server has a super calming energy/presence/voice which totally added to the vibe

Came with slaw, 1x Side (Collard Greens: sweet vinegar with some heat, and a bit of pork, really good!), and some AMAZING Hushpuppies (fresh, sweet corn bread). Shrimp & Grits: Fantastic! Buttery and cheesy grits with sausage and nice shrimp (not over-cooked or chewy). Green beans were slightly too soft (30-mins until closing), but good comfort food. Coleslaw was "meh," but a good, crunchy foil to the fish and rice. Counter Service (order at register, then they bring to table/to-go) was quite fast, given that they had to cook the fish and prep foods for take-out. Everything looked clean, staff was nice, and owner was talking to everyone. Didn't get to try the variety of desserts, but they looked and smelled great. Traveling, but worth the stop!

All of the food items looked great but i opted for the chicken. Salad croissant lunch with pasta salad! The chicken salad was solid! Quite delicious! It's a cute little shop, with sandwiches, cakes, dips, appetizers, all sorts of homemade goodies ready to take with you. The menu also has a selection of casseroles, lunches and dinners. The cakes are HUGE! We settled on buying a red velvet cake. It was a bit pricey at $32 BUT it was so dang heavy, we asked if it was perhaps frozen?? It wasn't. While checking out, the lovely people behind the counter offered us a sample of the chicken salad. To me, chicken salad is good, but I can't say I've ever had chicken salad that blew my socks off... UNTIL THEN! Mmmmmm it was VERY good. It's been months and I still remember how incredibly tasty the chicken salad tasted. I'll be honest, I didn't say anything, but I'm hit or miss when it comes to red velvet so I was hesitant. Sometimes red velvet can taste bitter or just not good. My friend really wanted that one so I kept quiet. Boy am I glad I did! It was literally the most amazing red velvet cake I've ever tried. It's VERY rich so a small slice will do you (which means the cake will feed more!). Even as rich as it was, I was like a crackhead, wanting just a bit more. Since my friend lives solo, she insisted I take some cake with me. I should have taken more!!! I try not to live life with regrets, but that's one regret for 2015. :( My daughter will tell you she does NOT like red velvet. I forced her to close her eyes, and take a bite. She LOVED it! She scarfed down the slice I brought for her and wanted more. As I mentioned earlier, this was months ago and I still think about how great the cake and chicken salad tasted. I was shocked to see Kaleen's hadn't been created on Yelp yet! If you're anywhere nearby, STOP AT KALEEN'S! Totally worth it.

While staying at the Hyatt Place, we were happy to visit Town Hall restaurant which is directly diagonal across the street. The restaurant is very attractive and modern - it appears that Florence is going through somewhat of a Renaissance, and they are developing around some very nice hotels and restaurants, complemented by a small town feel. At this restaurant, there is apparently a rooftop bar/patio, we enjoyed the dining room instead. Our server, Lara quickly approached and offered drinks and some menu suggestions. We wanted to sample many things, so we ordered a number of appetizers rather than going with entrees. Some that I would highly recommend include the cornbread, the seared scallops, and the grilled chicken wings. We also enjoyed some shrimp skewers which were good / not great, and some calamari which is prepared very differently than we're accustomed to - if you do get the calamari, ask first about the preparation. This is a moderately priced restaurant, for us it was about $50 per person, you can certainly get reasonably priced entrees for less, and it may be quite a bit more for people who may be drinking. Since there is a full bar, it appeared that many tables were coming as much for the drinks as they were for the food. If you happen to be in the Florence, SC area, this is certainly a great choice with a beautiful dining area, wonderful service, great food, and a walkable and safe downtown area.

The duck was extremely salty!! I mean tasted like they don't measure and had a bad taster. It was terrible. The calamari was the tiniest and saltiest appetizer I've ever seen for $15, The catfish had a bed of extra spicy, salty rice again with the salt. The collard greens were both too salty and too sweet. Cucumber salad had an unpleasant taste. The shrimp skewers, steak, burger, truffle fries, mashed potatoes and cornbread with guava butter and were seasoned well. I ordered the $49 filet mignon and my receipt showed a $54 charge, with not 1 side. The waitress dropped the birthday cake off and kept going. I asked if they would sing happy birthday she said no and walked off, extremely cold. They made us sort the $1027 bill out among 18 people, awful experience. Almost all of the group's food needed to go back bc of the salt overload, except the burgers, shrimp and steak. Definitely won't be returning.

He was SO hospitable, sweet and genuinely welcoming. He gave great recommendations and did not steer us wrong. These days, it's not always easy to come across service like that, which made it even more appreciated. I ordered the Sunset Blush drink and it was delicious. We also got the cornbread and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the BEST cornbread I've ever had. So soft and flavorful. The brisket sandwich was a little dry (could be because we went during closing) but still had really good flavor. The mac and cheese though... WOW. I am very picky with mac and cheese and most places miss the mark, but this tasted homemade. Easily a 10/10. My husband got the peach bourbon burger and said it was great. The kids ate everything in sight which is always a win...lastly the cinnamon roll cheesecake for dessert... phenomenal!!! Overall such a great experience and I'm really glad we stopped in!

After driving 15 hours on March 21, 2026, my husband and I were genuinely excited to try this place and planned to take our food back to the hotel. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly and never really recovered. First, parking is extremely limited out front, which is frustrating when you're tired and just want a quick pickup. Inside, things only got worse. The front-of-house staff was shockingly unprofessional. The employee helping us clearly didn't understand her job and had to be corrected multiple times by another staff member--something no customer should have to witness. It created confusion, delays, and zero confidence in our order. We paid about $50 for a sampler, which is not cheap, and yet the same employee argued about giving us the sides because she entered the order incorrectly. If another, more competent employee hadn't stepped in, I'm convinced it would have escalated further. Even then, we never received one of the four sides we paid for. To make matters worse, we were never asked if we wanted drinks to go, and we weren't given plates, silverware, or even BBQ sauce--basic essentials for a takeout order. That's just unacceptable. While waiting, we also watched this same employee tell three separate dine-in families to go sit and wait while she stood there rolling silverware. Completely rude and dismissive. If I had been one of those customers, I would have walked out. This is the first impression customers get, and it's a terrible reflection of how the place is run. Between the disorganization, poor communication, and outright unfriendly behavior, the service was a mess. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the food itself was actually very good. The burnt ends and ribs were the standout--absolutely delicious. But great BBQ can't fully make up for such a frustrating and poorly managed customer experience.

Placed our order and waited (not long). While waiting, overheard a request for a bag of fatback. After further investigation, Woodstone also sells skins. Add a bag with hot sauce to my order! Can't eat them everyday, but trust, they were crunchy deliciousness in a bag! My meal of BBQ ribs, mac & cheese, cabbage, chicken bawg and hush puppies was soo good! Standout stars were the perfectly steamed cabbage and well seasoned chicken bawg! Portion size will enable me to have 3 meals. I was so excited about those dawg-on skins, I forgot to order dessert.
