I purchased 3 ceiling fans from Lamps Plus 1 1/2 tears ago and one failed and then another. I was told by my electrician that the motors were burned out. I called Lamps Plus customer service and they looked up and found the purchase in their system. The lady wrote up a service claim and I received a call about 2 hrs later from the service dept. I described the problem as the electrician explained it and the service tech agreed the motors were bad and the fans would be replaced. The next day I received two replacement fans via FEDX. In this day and age of horrible customer service when it's hard to get a human on the phone I thought this was extraordinarily good customer service. Gary the manager needs a lesson in customer service! We have been buying there for years. Recently, we purchased three items to be shipped to our condo in Kansas City. Our electrician said one of the fans did not work. When we called and told them about it they said they would ship a new one and we can return the one that did not work. However, the price has gone up since we bought it recently and they charged us an additional $80 plus a return fee of $13. When we spoke to Gary he blamed corporate and said he doesn't make the fans and he doesn't own the company. Funny that their advertisements say satisfaction guaranteed. Wow! It's 5:15 pm and they close at 6pm. The guy that was at the register did not greet or acknowledge us, was cashing out the register. We said me wanted 2 mirrors and the guy the register said they don't have them in stock. The other guy sitting in the chair didn't even knowledge us! On our way out Marcella came out and asked of she could help. Very friendly and helpful. She let us know that she could order them and get them shipped to us on Monday. WOW! All I can say ask for Pauola, She goes above and beyond great service. Ordered a Lamp for over the countertop came in and was way too small I brought back and ordered a larger one. It came in and there in house installers did a great job but when they left noticed that the lamp was crinkled. I went in to talk to Pauola and she immediately recorded a new one. it took about a week but came and and installers came backhand it looks great! I ordered a huge Arc Lamp online and it arrived with a tiny piece broken. Drove the part over to this location to see if they could replace it. The worst lamp store ever. Stick on the floor is not available. 45 days ago I was told that the product was still in the container. Hey said they would call me. NOT! Worst customer service ever. Went to the lamps plus store in Rancho Mirage on Saturday. Upon entering, there were 7-8 associates talking with each other. No one bothered to say hello or offer any assistance. I actually interrupted two associates who are engaged in a conversation and they acted like I was intruding on there time. Hello... I am the customer! So disgusted, I walked out of the store within 10 minutes. This is not the first time I've had a poor experience with customer service at this location. I had a great experience at Lamps Plus. The selection is great, we were looking for just the right fixture for the entry of our mid century home and had many choices. Where the outstanding service comes in.... the specialty bulb that came with the fixture burned out in a couple of months, we went to order a replacement and when we told them that it burned out in a short time they apologized and replaced the bulb for free, we bought a spare to have and the bulb has been fine for 5 months now. The store is great but I had a problem...and unfortunately is was a really expensive one. Last summer I was living in Los Angeles and in the process of a remodel on a home out here. When we came out we went to Lamps Plus to purchase fixtures. We found some fixtures we liked for one of the bathrooms but they didn't have one of them in stock, so the sales person put in an order for both pieces and we had them shipped from their warehouse to our place in the desert. Well, they never showed up. When we went to the store and talked to the sales person he looked it up and said that the shipper was showing that the packages had been delivered. They hadn't (I live in a gated community so it isn't likely someone drove by and stole them). I was a bit upset and said, "so are you telling me that I'm just out $400?" He assured me that wouldn't be the case and that he'd look into it and get back to me. Well, that was probably in August, and it's now February and I've never heard a word. Should I have follwed up? Absolutely. But things got crazy and frankly I forgot about it. Now it's too late to take it up with American Express. My bad. And because I forgot to follow up I truly am out $400. But you don't have to be. Do NOT trust the people at this location to do what they say they're going to do. Thank God it was super hot that day and I was too tired to really think too much. Because I was so wiped out we only purchased them for one of the bathrooms rather than the whole house! It is worth mentioning that I had an issue with the Lamps Plus in Pasadena recently. Look at my reviews, I like to write GOOD reviews, and 2 of the bad ones I've written are about Lamps Plus. I've always loved them but I guess overall they are slipping. Its a real shame because historically they have had a huge selection, great stuff, at a reasonable price....and they used to have good help. Apparently not anymore. I hope the guy who was supposed to be helping me "make this situation right" gets the same sort of service from someone else that he gave me....and karma bites him, and this chain in the butt. Purchased a dining room chandelier on Monday morning and it was delivered promptly the next day Federal Express. Easy assembly, one globe had a small barely noticeable crack, not bad at all. Since I was going to be in the neighborhood, they replaced it from the one in the showroom. Roberto was helpful and totally gets customer service. In the meantime, we got a couple estimates just to see.
