He claimed he had done an exam -- but he was the one who cleaned my teeth himself, and there was no separate exam performed. I also know that my dentist would have opted for a root canal instead of a full on extraction. They make you sign waivers and pay up-front for a procedure. $595 for an extraction of one tooth. They never explained anything to be expected from the procedure; not my options, after care procedures etc. Unfortunately, when you are in so much pain, you basically do as you are told. In hindsight, I wish I had left her office. It took her 20 minutes of pulling and tugging to get my tooth out and she had no bedside manner at all. When she was done, she just left, on to the next patient (or dollar sign). As I was later told by my own dentist, the office would usually have you wait until a blood clot is formed in the socket after an extraction. Not here. I was sent on my way without a prescription for antibiotics or pain medication and had to return to ask for it. I had a dry socket with exposed bone form. There was even a piece of my tooth left in the socket. When I came home and read all the bad reviews on google my stomach turned. I had to return to my own doctor to get additional treatment. My doctor had to irritate the dry socket to allow a blood clot to form so that it can cover the bone and heal. How is it possible that Orlando Smiles would let a patient out of their office without letting them know about the healing process, or waiting for a blood clot to form? Do NOT go to this dentist.
