**PLEASE BE AWARE** You WILL be charged a minimum of $155 for ANY visit from Lanco Plumbing, regardless of what is done. Need a quote? That'll be $155 whether or not you use them for the actual work -- and they demand payment before they leave. We expected a service call fee of somewhere between $50 - $75 that would be applied towards the labor if we used them, but certainly not $155 for simply providing an estimate/quote. Please note that this initial payment is, in fact, NOT applied towards any future work that results from that estimate/quote. It is their hourly labor rate that is charged to you regardless of the fact that NO labor is being done at that time and they will NOT tell you this up front unless you ask specifically. This is NOT standard and gives trade/services companies a bad reputation. This being said, the service technician that came out (Cody) was very polite, courteous and competent. He replaced 2 anode rods in our water tanks -- in and out on the second visit in under 45 minutes. This is the only reason there are 2 stars here instead of 1. Being required to demand a $155 hourly labor fee for doing LITERALLY no manual labor on an initial visit is not Cody's policy -- it's Lanco's. It wasn't until we paid the fee for the actual labor that we realized the first fee was not applied towards the second. We thought this was an oversight and called Lanco's office, but the lady who answered informed us that this is just what they do. If you've got $155 just burning a hole in your pocket, you can have a 15 minute conversation about possible plumbing solutions and give your money to Lanco Plumbing in Dickinson, TX. Edit: Approximately 24 hours after this review was written, a Lanco representative called to tell me I was giving false information, so I checked and sure enough, I found the error. To correct this, I've updated what they charged me from $145 to $155 for the quote -- not $145 + tax, which is just bad math on my part. Everything else is 100% accurate. Lanco came out to my senior parents house a few months ago. They were 100% awesome and HONEST. They took time with my parents, yes I was there, explained everything did a great job with the repairs and fixed a sink they didn't know they had a problem with. So, I called them with some hot water heaters I was having, they came out on time, super knowledgeable and helpful, went over every possible issues we might be having and could not have been more professional. Replaced a cartridge in my faucet. Warned me that since it was corroded and stuck, it may leave a mark on the faucet. I couldn't see the mark and faucet cartridge was changed successfully. Also, during the freeze I had a scare with an outside faucet. They instructed me what to do and requested I call back to let them know the outcome. Everyrhing worked out fine. They really care about their customers. They are also very reasonably priced. Honest and competent. Very happy with Lanco. read more

They used a lock box code to get key and enter home then left the house unlocked with the key in the door for two days. Owner called and said they left 20 minutes prior to me finding door unlocked on 5/11, but the invoice they sent said the work was completed in 2 trips on 5/10. Wouldn't recommend based on that alone. As others have stated below, they did the work in as many separate trips as possible to maximize charges. Even blamed the rain. Wanted to be paid before even sending a bill or invoice. Wanted to read aloud the charges and take payment over the phone. Who does that? read more

We purchased a water heater less than a year ago on March 26, 2021 from Lanco Plumbing. We also purchased the warranty they sold us. The less than one year old water heater broke yesterday. After four calls, one text and one BBB report we have yet to receive one call from them. Zip! Nada! Nothing! It's 35 degrees outside. You would think a company that touts how much they care about their community and customers would care enough to return a call about a defected water heater they sold and installed. Lanco sent out a plumber on the day we called for help. We had a break in the line right at the meter (our side, not the city's side). He was out there working on it immediately. He did not try to upsell us, which he could easily have done. The cost was EXTREMELY fair and reasonable. (They did a re-grade for me years ago and the cost was half of what other plumbers quoted). Positive: Easy scheduling, plumber wore a mask. Neutral: Not informed by scheduler that hourly rate begins when staff begins drive to destination. Cons: Total time to install 4 bathroom sink faucets was 8 hours over 2 separate visits. First of all, at plumber's recommendation, he corrected a previous error in sealing under sink pipe. Also, a downtime of 2 sinks resulted while awaiting mail delivery of 2 pop-up drain replacements as recommended by plumber. Although the plumber stated that there was nothing wrong with the current faucets (and they functioned properly), he took all the original 4 faucets and 2 original pop up drains with him when he left. On a follow-up call to the office the next day, the company stated that the faucets have been trashed. read more

p trap in laundry room cracked and leaked. Another plumber wanted big bucks and did little investigation and said he needed someone elsto to go into walk or dig pipe in yard. I didn't believe a word and called Lanci who is used exclusively by 3 of my neighbors. The following morning Chris and Sam arrived and after 10 minutes said it's probably the P Trap. I have had Lanco complete a a couple of of repairs in the past and they just installed a water heater for me today. I have always found them to be professional and they get the work done quickly (e.g. I called about the water heater yesterday and they were able to get it done today). Their prices are fair, and their office staff is very knowledgeable as well. I spoke to Fran several times to set up the appointment and she was very knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done. Lanco over- charges and workers dawdle while racking up big charges for next to nothing. They appear to pull the old bait-and-switch tactic. Expect a $500 bill to unclog a kitchen drain. Their front office/ customer service lady ain't no lady either. She may have anger management issues. read more

3 visits to fix small leak under sink. Knowing the owner, I gave them another chance. This time they punched a hole in a pipe going in septic tank. They said we don't repair pipes close to septic tanks--and left. Cost me $700 to have fixed and my calls were ignored (and a visit to office) Never again... read more

I called to have a leak at the base of my faucet checked. The repairman removed the handle of the faucet and tightened ONE BOLT. I was charged $110 dollars to tighten ONE BOLT. He was finished in under 5 minutes. The fee is beyond excessive and should be adjusted when there is obviously no major work done. This is not a reflection of the service man that completed the order as he was only doing his job. He was very cordial and seemed somewhat embarrassed to have to charge me that fee for virtually doing nothing. He even stated he knew it would be no issue as my subdivision is new and there was no way a new faucet would be needed. In short, this is highway robbery. I have ordered an Allen wrench set as this was literally the only tool needed, aside from a wrench to tighten a bolt. Sorely disappointed. read more

Rude, arrogant, unreliable, Didn't come equipped to do the job but still charged 1 hour minimum for 2 workers. Used my equipment because they didn't bring theirs. I dug out water line they took the credit. I showed them where the leak was they ignored me. They shut the water off scheduled for the next day and then canceled for three days. Only after I complained did they send someone out two days later. After calling me a liar and threatening to not finish the job. When they finished it cost me 1000.02 dollars and I did 80% of the work. Told they would come back in 3 hours and turn the water on although they told me it should remain off 24 hours and then would charge for the call back. I did it myself 26 hours later opening all the lines in and around the house then slowly turning the water on at the meter. Two hours later I had a leak I dug up the line and one of their connections had failed. I repaired it myself with a 25 cent pvc fitting and some wet n dry pvc glue I have in my garage. No problem, I went into the wrong business. But I probably would have been fair and honest. At least I would not have yelled liar at a 40+ year customer. read more

We had a kitchen sink clog. These guys came out quickly. They were very nice and professional. We jammed it up good and poured all kinds of crap down the sink trying to loosen the clog. BEWARE!! This company is a rip off. They are very deceptive. I was given a quote for $99 Hr to find a leak in my yard. The employee-owner was the one that gave me the quote on Sept 30, 2016. I called in and requested to be set up ASAP but wanted the owner to come that had quoted me the price so that there was no change of price or misunderstanding on the per hour quote. He showed up late and also brought "a helper." I was NOT told I would be paying $140 per hour now. Nothing was EVER mentioned of added charger. Imaging $40 per hour for a helper??? Not a plumber. Oddly enough my leak had been fixed while I was at work by a relatives friend 36 hours before. I was unaware since I was staying with friends while my water was off. The owner of Lanco admitted my meter wasn't turning rapidly but for the next 2 hours continuous to peruse a leak. He came into my residence and looked at the toilets and said the problem was my flapper which a contractor had just changed in May. He precedes to scrape "residue" from under the flapper then ask for food coloring. He dropped food coloring in my tank after the fact of "scraping such debris off" then saying it was a toilet flapper leak. He then moved to two other toilets and immediately drop food coloring in the tank before instead of after so the first toilet was inaccurate since he did "scraping before testing to see if there was truly a leak. He proceeds to lie to me. His "helped" stood around on several occasions while he (owner) spent 45 minutes looking for any other possible leaks in the home and 15 minutes in his van writing invoice from his iPad. When I was asked to sign the bill on the iPad which I couldn't see due to the darkness of the device and the sun glaring down i asked what the charges were and he then told me the "helper was $40 hour. I saw he charged me for 3 toilet flappers and questioned him. He stammered around when questioned of (3) being installed. I them asked " Are you sure?" He looked at his helper and you could tell he knew the truth. But reluctantly agreed while also stammering in knowing he hadn't change them all. They drive away while I went to the toilets and found only one changed while being charged for 2. I called the office and the secretary contacted them to return. This company had the nerve to try to charge me for a 1/2 hour labor $50 to fix what they didn't do. This took less than 2 minutes to do both the others, however he stalled upstairs since I wasn't watching them so he could try to justify the time. When he told me he had to charge me!???!! I asked what he was talking about. Just to end this let's just say he told me the office said he had to charge me. REALLY???? I contacted his sister (co-owner) she was extremely rude and told me she would wave the charge this time but to take my business elsewhere next time and hung up. I was the one getting screwed over here! So I phoned her which they let go to voicemail on purpose so I left a message that I was disputing the $40 HR and putting this on every social media site. Guess what?? I get a phone call back not recognizing the voice since it didn't sound like the same rude and unprofessional person. She admitted she and her brothers (owners) were wrong on trying to rip me off as well as failing to tell me the heller was extra $40 HR. I listened to her try to back peddle just to get me to not expose this crooked company. I opted out of her wasting my time to save from making this public. NEVER ONCE DID SHE OFFER TO CREDIT ME $117 for the added charge so since I have her statement they were wrong on several things I have forwarded this to my disputed department of my MasterCard!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!' And yes I will take her advice a surely go elsewhere in the future. By the way BBB. has them at a 2.5 out of 5 and several other poor reviews. Are you kidding me??? We set up an appointment almost a week in advance. No show, no call... When I called them they told me that someone didn't show up for work and they were running about 2 hours behind (thanks for the call!) Approx 3 hours later we called THEM again and they said "we're workin on it"... Approx 6 hours later when I called them yet again, no one answered the phone. No one ever showed up or called!!! We own a small business in League City and this is absolutely NOT how we do business. In fact, they were the opposite of how we operate - unprofessional, discourteous, unreliable, worthless... It cost us over $300 in our own business to sit around all day and be strung along! It's a good thing our house wasn't flooding, huh??? If I could give zero stars I would. This company has fixed same issue twice in past 2-3 years. Guess what leaking again. Instead of backing up their work and fixing the problem the lady gave me every reason why it should be leaking. She said if it has lasted 2 years then their work was good. She refused to guarantee the work and it would just be another service call. Funniest thing of all she said they been in business for 40 years and a+ on BBB and have good reviews. Well I looked they have 1 star on reviews and they 2.5 out of 5 in BBB with complaints not addressed. She said maybe I should look elsewhere for this repair. Well guess what I did. I have used this company for years. Have always been satisfied. They even replumbed our home and have worked on our rentals. We have had a leak for a couple months and it had gotten worse. I call them and they sent out a tech same day.in an attempt to isolate the leak he turned off main valve to house. Then advised me that wasn't main valve. HE SPENT THE NEXT 1.5 HRS looking for a way to shut it off only to tell me it was that valve after all they just didn't let the lines run long enough to see that. Then they left and said they would need to reschedule. I just got my bill for 275.00 which I paid because Fran was quiet indignant, stating I was just trying to get out of my bill, which was not the case! I would think any plumber should know you have to bleed out lines before water stops running. Anyway, buyer be ware. I'm finding a new plumber since I paid 275.00 and know know what should have been discovered in 15 minutes. Fran is rude, maybe its time she finds a new job, she obviously doesnt care about customers. read more
