Walks around telling students she isn't going anywhere, the principal is her best friend. I feel sorry for the kids when they go to High School with no math knowledge. It's such a warm, joyful environment for learning. When my toddler started at Dragonfly Academy, she was still on diapers, and I was lucky if I could get her to even sit on the toilet. Thanks to the patient and dedicated teachers, she's now fully potty-trained! It warms my heart to see how much she loves her teacher, Ms. Huong, and how excited she is to talk about her classmates. She also comes home with her hair tied in cute hairstyles that are much better than I can do at home haha. I've had the chance to attend several events like the pumpkin patch field trip, the Halloween parade, the Thanksgiving potluck, and the Christmas concert. I watched my daughter, along with other toddlers her age, confidently get up on stage to sing, dance, and follow choreographed moves. It was truly amazing to see how the teachers were able to nurture such confidence and joy in such young children (and got all these toddlers to follow directions!). Each time, I'm blown away by the effort the staff puts into making these events special and engaging for the kids. The staff are absolute professionals when it comes to helping children adjust and feel comfortable. They have a magical way of using stickers, toys, and little treats to ease the transition from parents to the classroom. I'm also grateful for the consistent updates from Ms. Amy, Ms. Daisy, and Ms. Huong about Serena's progress and upcoming events. Dragonfly Academy has been such a blessing for our family. Turns out she just didn't want to listen to the teacher because she was mean to the kids and my daughter was scared of her. This changed when we switched to GG Montessori. She began being excited to go and would always have a bubbly happy smile as well as something nice to say about the day come pick-up time! Ms. Cecil had let us know that she took extra care to get our daughter to warm up over their first couple months together. We are so grateful to her for repairing the damage done by the other schools! We also saw tons of the worksheets where she was learning to write both numbers and letters and all of the fun craft activities that improved her dexterity. The school itself is a little outdated but hand downs they have the most loving, caring, hard working and patient staff which I think is the most important in the development of children at these ages. All the teachers including administrative staffs like Mrs Lee (the director who has heart of gold) and Ms Sarah, know all the kids in the entire school by name so it always feel like we are part of a small knitted family. From morning greetings at the gate with Ms May to Mommy Teacher who cook them fresh hot meals everyday to goodbyes with your kid's teacher, we always feel blessed to have found Shalom. A little about their curriculum - the kids always bring home tons of crafts they do every week and do weekly music class along with cooking, yoga, and a lot of exposure to different community service workers eg. fire fighters, police officer, dentist. Instead of sending one of our boy to the public school TK program, we had him attended the TK program with Ms Nicole and we are so glad we did that as it has prepared him so well for Kindergarten at his current school. In fact, his current teacher said he's ahead of his peers but little did she knew that prior he couldn't even sit still for more than 2 mins nor write his name until he had Ms Nicole's class. Our youngest one is now in Ms Nicole's class and needless to say, he's learning a ton as well while still having lots of fun! We only wished Shalom had older classes beyond TK because we would have continued to send our oldest one here! We actually live in a different city but make the drive out to send them here because we love it so much. If you're looking for a place to send your young ones, there really isn't a better place where you can entrust your kids with than Shalom! Definitely would give them more than 5 stars if I could!
