I bought a pair of Zeiss binoculars here in '18. I received excellent assistance & was able to try out several pairs. They recently required servicing from Zeiss. I received bizarre info. from Zeiss. I called the store & Whitney quickly got involved. She contacted a Zeiss person that she is familiar with & I received more accurate information. I was not familiar with this incredible shop until I was preparing for my trip to Antarctica. I needed help using my husband's binoculars. Two pairs needed minor repairs. Their "binocular expert," Leslie, was amazing. He was able to repair them and teach me how to adjust the settings. Between the 3 pairs of binoculars I have, he helped me select which pair I should actually take on the trip: the smallest ones made by Zeiss. Not a good experience at all. Will not ever order from this company again. Ordered a hard to find optics that was listed as available on their website. Credit card charged and received confirmation email. Called after the weekend to confirm shipping times and was told that they only had demos and couldn't sell any. I should expect a 5 month wait. This took 2 calls and they made no effort to contact me and tell me this. So...they took money out of my credit, it will take 3-5 days for it to be returned. I had even called on Saturday (after I ordered) and asked about shipping and the gentleman that answered said "I don't know....call back on Monday". Bottom line: You can't trust when you order that the product is in stock. If it isn't, they won't notify you based on my experience. read more

If you want to start in the wonderful hobby and world of astronomy, this is the best place to start. We were looking for a nice big telescope to watch the sky at home, we are absolute beginners and we needed to speak to someone with knowledge before buying. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable, specially Tim Pellerin who helped us with all our doubts and questions. I went to Land Sea and Sky to find a pair of binoculars that were good for viewing the night sky. I know it's more appropriate to use a telescope, but they are so much trouble to set up. I started with a trip to Whole Earth Provisions, but all they had were some bird watching binolulars--they suggested Land Sea and Sky. I fell in love with all of the telescopes and science equipment in the store. The staff was really friendly and helpful and intelligent. To say that you could spend a mint in here is an understatement, but then most people never really have a pressing need for a lot of the things they sell. One of the worst experiences I've had purchasing from a shop in a long time. They overcharged my card and when I called back two weeks later, they repeatedly put me on long holds when I was trying to rectify the situation. To worsen the horrendousness that is TNR, I had a backordered item that was IN STOCK, that they just didn't ship to me... The manger Art lied to me and said they don't keep copies of the receipt, and that I would have to fax MY copy in order for the to refund the money. He lied again to me when he said he would email the boss' contact information, which never came. The owner Chris thought it was funny when he heard of his manager playing with me. He asked what I wanted, and when I said a better discount, he repeated it out loud so that the manager could laugh in the background. Amazing! Avoid this company like the plague. My wife and I were recently birding again at High Island, TX, and Chris Hysinger, Land, Sea & Sky owner was there with a display of binoculars, spotting scopes, and accessories. He let me try out several different brands of binoculars, and I was very impressed with one brand. I tested them in the area for about an hour on several occasions - not intending to actually replace the bino's I have been very pleased with and using for years. However, the difference in optics between mine and the newer brand was noticeably superior. Chris had the binoculars on sale, PLUS, he donated about 10% of the sale to the Houston Audubon. He's also donated optics to them. That is outstanding support to a non-profit by a local business. Chris and his wife were extremely knowledgeable, not pushy, and genuinely committed to helping customers find a "good fit" for them at a great price. Their approach made me glad I took the time to "browse" their display and meet them both. I definitely will be a return customer because I trust their advice, they have very competitive prices, go out of their way to serve their clients, and - very important for me - give back to the community in which they live and work. read more

Uncommonly great service at prices similar to the internet! Not a whole lot more one could ask for. I was recently cruising the internet for a new telescope. While my spouse was shopping downtown I paid a visit to Land Sea & Sky. There on the sales floor was exactly the telescope for which I had been searching. Seeing it in person and being able to talk to a person who had the same telescope really helped me make the correct purchase. Like so many other Chinese products, it needed a few adjustments. If I would have purchased via the internet I would have had to box it up and pay for return shipping AND wait for a replacement.
