We used Richard with Landcraft to do a major re-landscape job in our backyard. We had significant problems with drainage in our yard that seem to have been solved due to his thoughtful planning and attention to details. He worked hard to come up with an irrigation system remodel that saved lots of time and money on an old inadequate system. He also was good at solving problems that were uncovered as the project was underway. He worked tirelessly to match stonework on a wall that needed to be built to solve an irrigation issue. His workers are craftsmen and care a lot about their work. You can not even tell it was built at a different time than my other walls and pool rock work. I was very particular because the wall has lots of detail with multiple types of stone with a limestone cap. I am very pleased with the results. He has very good design skills as well as knowledge of plants that will thrive in specific areas. He spends lots of time finding the right plants to work in your yard. This combination of skills and attention to detail makes him a good choice for any problem areas you may have. I am very excited to have a new, beautiful, lush landscape to enjoy in my backyard! I could not be more pleased with the work Richard and his crew did. My house had absolutely zero landscaping anywhere around the house; imagine a mud pit with a few trees. Asked Richard at Landcraft design to take a look at a water drainage and erosion problem. We're out on some property and unfortunately here in Central Tx runoff even on high ground is inevitable. I though his crew was just going to install crushed road paver with reinforced timber. My wife and I were amazed after they completed the project. The "road paver" looked like a professionally engineered home foundation! He constructed a full retaining wall. And to further divert the water's flow they graded away from our building installing a massive drainage pipe below ground! Landcraft design also routinely prunes our undergrowth and oaks. Richard is very knowledgeable cleaning his tools and sealing the wounds. In all the years we've been here there has never been a sign of wilt. We're blessed to be on such beautiful land... and get to see it without all those juniper and cedar saplings stealing all the water and ravaging our allergies. read more

We moved into a new house in Driftwood that was essentially a blank canvas. When Richard came over we had some ideas about what we wanted, but were looking for guidance. We stumbled onto Richard by chance, and now know just how lucky that was! Richard, and the men who do the backbreaking work, are absolutely top-notch. We wanted to redo the landscaping on two houses we own, and he worked with us to develop a plan that was beautiful and within budget. He hand chooses every plant before it goes in, making sure it is healthy and the right size, etc. He cares a great deal about the overall vision as well as the pieces that go into every step of the process. We also had some hardscaping done, and thought we knew what we wanted for that. He suggested we go another direction with it and it is fabulous--we love it. The men who work for him, one or two of whom have been with him for 25 years, are extremely hard working, I think I probably drove them crazy taking them ice and popsicles and drinks but I did not understand how they could work so hard from early morning to late afternoon in 100+ degree heat, without getting heat stroke, it worried me! Richard regularly came to check every detail and to make sure we were happy with the progress. We've renovated three houses over the years, and I can only think of one other company who has impressed us as much as Landcraft landscaping. The owner, Richard, is just brilliant. He spent an hour in our yard, fielding all my questions, and came up with a plan that included considerations for slope and drainage, sunny and shady areas, gutter downspouts... every detail of our yard. More impressively, he considered our daughter's safety, and made recommendations for kid-friendly edging and non-poisonous plants. He took our basic idea to remove concrete and create a play area, and created a lovely plan with two seating areas, a walking path, and a gorgeous array of plants. Landcraft is amazingly reliable. I called on Tuesday, had a consultation Wednesday, he had a plan drawn up Thursday, and we walked through it that weekend. Work began the following Monday. The crew showed up every day for 3.5 weeks around 7:30am, and left around 5:30pm. One of them has been with Richard for 15 years. Richard was there every day, too, overseeing everything and following up with me as necessary. Their work was outstanding. Every detail was exactly as it was drawn on the plan, even the spacing between plants. They created a stone patio, and I had no idea how much work was required! You have to break the stones to fit against one another, and chip away to flatten the tops, so there was a lot of room to cut corners, but they spent five days making sure it was absolutely perfect. They really did everything as best as it could be done. The patio was leveled with a soft slope in three different directions. They painstakingly dug away dirt with a shovel to make way for the granite path without hurting the nearby roots of trees. They cut each square of sod perfectly, so that they fit seamlessly together and along the borders. One benefit of having Richard there every day was that he was able to change things up as needed. For example, we had a fence put in during that time, and he was able to direct the guys to other tasks so everything could keep moving forward. Likewise, we were able to change little things along the way without a hiccup. The quality of the plants and materials he uses is top notch! Richard even went to two garden centers to try to find a plant I really liked. He also suggested a specific kind of decomposed granite and sand for the sandbox. This guy is seriously detail-oriented. We really couldn't be happier with Landcraft, and plan on using them to landscape our front yard next year. The price was very reasonable, and the value outstanding. read more

Richard is a true professional. We are beyond thrilled with how our front and back yards have turned out. He put a lot of thought into the design, tweaking as he worked to get the aesthetic perfect.He was very quick to respond from the beginning - a rare find! He worked with our budget, giving us different design options to accommodate. His crew was wonderful - very thorough, professional and great craftsmen. Simply the best! Richard is very knowledgeable and professional. We hired Landcraft ten years ago to add curb appeal to our first home. After my husband and I recently moved back to Austin we hired Landcraft again and the team was great. The guys even took my trash cans to the curb when I forgot. They did an OK job for setting up our landscape but the customer service is left to be desired. I said OK because they installed a few trees that are too close to the house that they need to be moved to another location or chopped down completely. Bad design and what a waste. You would think after dropping some 30k they will be responsive but no, the owner gave me an attitude and refused to come back to fix stuff. Stay away. I would give ZERO star if there's an option. read more

Richard did a great job on my landscaping. My house is built on a hill in Dripping Springs and I had significant drainage issues with water pooling at the front of the house during storms. Richard's challenge was to solve the drainage issues and add a new natural looking hill country landscape to enhance my yard. Richard devised a plan with extensive french drains, pipes and grading to solve the drainage issues. He incorporated native rocks and plants to conceal the drains and it all looks very beautiful. Richard also constructed beds with limestone blocks and filled the beds with deer and shade tolerant plants - not an easy combination but required for my heavily treed lot. Lastly, he added a sprinkler system, shade tolerant grass and six new trees to complete the project. It all looks beautiful and having seen the drains perform in recent storms I'm happy to see the drainage problems are solved! On top of the great work, Richard actually reduced the price at the end of the project due to finding some less expensive trees than quoted - even though he encountered a few issues during the project that he addressed and did not charge extra for. How often does that happen! I would not hesitate to recommend Richard for drainage and landscaping projects. read more
