Got dropped off right at the door we needed, which matters when you're pulling bags out at a busy terminal. The part I appreciated most was the billing. They invoiced me after the trip, so there was no scrambling for a card or working out a tip with the driver in the moment. Zero hassle on departure day, which was the whole point. They may not be directly across the street from each other, so some walking may be involved. I found the BART to be clean, efficient, and an affordable way to get around the San Francisco Bay Area.

There are friendly ticket agents on-site if you need assistance purchasing tickets or have questions, but I highly recommend buying your tickets in advance through the Amtrak app or website--it's quick and easy. The staff at the ticket counter were fantastic, and the onboard crew was equally friendly when they scanned our tickets. A little history: the station opened in 1995 as part of the revitalization of Jack London Square, the historic waterfront district named after famed author Jack London, who spent much of his youth in Oakland and drew inspiration from the waterfront for many of his stories. Outside the station you'll also find a statue honoring C.L. Dellums, the influential labor leader and co-founder of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, after whom the station is officially named. This station is primarily served by the Capitol Corridor, with trains to Emeryville, Berkeley, Richmond, Martinez, Davis, Sacramento Valley, Roseville, and Auburn. However, they have a rule that you're not allowed to contact the driver directly at all. I've never been told not to contact a driver in all the services I've ever used for airport or other pick ups so this seems very odd. They gave me the driver's phone number, but sent me many admonitions never to contact him before during or after the service. I always like to make sure with drivers myself that they understand what time to pick up, that they need to wear a mask, etc., etc. So not being able to do this left me very frustrated and not sure I'd do the service again. UPDATE MGL responded that they only asked me to not contact the driver before the trip. That's not true they sent me several texts that literally say "do not contact the driver before or after the trip" and they went onto continue messaging not to bother the driver as he may be with other clients.
