We are long time residents of nearby Tuxedo, NY, but had never been to the Landmark Inn until last evening. We were inspired to go because I read they had classic 'liver with bacon and onions' which no one seems to offer anymore. Old inn setting is nice, but not overly pretentious. Comfortable for diners with children. Service efficient and friendly. Cocktails (Pear Martini and Landmark Manhattan) were excellent. Food was very good. I had the Classic Liver & Onions and hubby had the Short Ribs. I made the mistake of ordering a side of French Fries and Collard Greens because nothing was indicated on the menu for sides with the Liver. Liver came with a ton of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Probably my fault for not asking. Only downside to the evening was asking for take home and they dumped all the french fries in with the collard greens. Just spent several minutes trying to pick them out for leftovers today. read more

After being here several times I'm ready to post. They make a great manhattan which they call the landmark manhattan, the food is good. The service is adequate but often seems understaffed, the waitresses running around trying hard but stressed. Doors on ceiling are fun, in winter ask to be by the fireplace. Drapes in dining room are dated and need to be thrown away. The bar has a nice feel but small. Free popcorn if you like. Note there are two menus a bar menu and a dinner menu and either can be ordered from but you may have to ask if you sit in the dining room, I would appreciate if they were more forthcoming with this as the dining room menu is obviously more Expensive. Overall a good place to try if you know the rules and aren't in a hurry. read more

Should have known how good this place was by how full the parking lot was. Egg rolls with wasabi...came was a slaw and a creamy wasabi, not your traditional wasabi, but good flavor. Very good. French onion soup...damn good. Filet mignon wrapped with bacon with strong beans and potato wedges. Filet cooked exactly as ordered and melted in your mouth. String beans were the best...not soggy, just crispy enough. Wedges had a flavoring. Cant place it, but tasty. The Landmark Inn beyond met expectations. After so many great reviews and recommendations we visited as a walk in back in June, and asked for outdoor seating. We were told they were fully booked outside by the Maitre d'. After being seated right next to the outdoor space we noticed that there were 4 tables opened without reserved placards. I figured I'd ask anyway . after asking our waitress if it was possible to move outside she said she would check. Back comes the maitre d' annoyed and reiterated that she already told us that they were booked outside . From the moment we sat down everything was behind , drinks , apps, entrees and during that time guess what 4 tables remained opened the entire time ? Yup the same outdoor ones we saw when we arrived ! The service was so bad that the waitress was aware and couldn't even look at us to drop the check ... instead our friend the maitre d' dropped it on the table without saying anything . while I fully understand business are hurting during Covid , at least have the decency to acknowledge it with your customers. Get in front of the delays with transparency . You had plenty of tables but did not have the staff to support it , but lying about it and then seating us next to the space didn't help your cause . Whoever The cook is in this place is the only reason they are keeping the lights on . read more

Great country side restaurant. The service is warm, the interior cosy and the food enjoyable. The portions are generous and well presented. Recommendations from the appetizers the lobster egg roll (though not a fried food fan, this is pretty spectacular), beetroot and goats cheese salad. Entrees fared better than the appetizers so if you're keen for dessert, skip and move straight to mains. The pan seared scallop risotto is enough for two, the burgers evoked a few moans of pleasure - however order medium rare. For dessert, the warm chocolate tart with maple ice cream and caramel sauce won hearts over. For out of towners, it's an excellent experience. read more

Born and raised here in warwick and this was my first visit to the landmark inn. The food was unbelievable, service was mediocre and the ambiance was really cool. Only reason I want to write a review is just to suggest that if there is bacon (say on the scallop mushroom risotto) it should be specified in the description. I don't eat meat and was a bit disappointed that I didn't know before ordering as it was throughout the dish. HOWEVER it was amazing just had to pick around the bacon or whatever meat was in it. Overall great experience absolutely plan to go again in the near future. read more

This is crazy but we brought 8 people to celebrate our parents 65th birthday. We had one request... a candle in a dessert. My husband politely asked the hostess if we could do anything for their birthday. She said no, they don't do that... too short of notice. We requested a single candle in any form of a dessert. We would pay anything. Still major attitude. The hostess promised she would tAlk to the waitress about it. She never did. I approached the waitress and she also was completely off put by the request. "Well, if they order a desert I guess I can put a candle in it. Again, money is not an object here. Our parents were full so they didn't order desert but either way, they could have some something, anything really. We offered $$. We are not high maintenance people. We are excellent tippers... btw- we still excessively tipped our waitress. Such a bizarre way to treat people on what must be a very standard request. Happy Birthday??? read more

This was our first visit, but definitely not our last. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. We were there for a birthday dinner and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. We were allowed to decorate our table in advance and the ladies cut and served a special cake we brought for the occasion. It was a perfect day! read more

If I could click more stars and give a greater rating, I would be delighted to do so. Since April, I have been passing the Landmark Inn daily, always glancing at the building and waiting for Michael to reopen after the lockdowns that occurred during the pandemic. After a major (and beautiful) renovation of the interior the restaurant and an overhaul of the menu, finally, he reopened his doors last week. It was well worth the hiatus. The carpenters did an amazing job updating and reimagining the cozy, warm interior of the parlor, bar and dining area. A wonderful mix of rural rustic barn wood complemented by urban upbeat industrial tables and accessories. It works beautifully. The menu has been streamlined and scaled back (one menu now, not separate for bar and dining area) ... but the new offerings take the best items from the old menus and reinvent them. There was so much I wanted to try (Love Mike's Wings) that making choices was actually a hard endeavor. I decided upon the Crab Cakes as an appetizer and the Pumpkin Ravioli as my entree. The Pumpkin Ravioli is a hold over from the old menu but it has been updated with a modern twist. Less heavy. Lighter texture and sauce. Dessert: Warm Apple Crisp with Ice Cream. I am delighted to have my favorite Warwick Restaurant reopened and cannot wait for my next visit. I recommend The Landmark Inn to all who visit Warwick. It was good before the pandemic. By far one of the best dining experiences in the Hudson Valley. Both the pub and dining room menus offer something for everyone. As a pescatarian, I'm a devoted fan of the Scallop Risotto, Lobster Egg Rolls, Crab Cakes, and Gemelli Pasta dishes. My fiance cannot seem to order anything but the Gorgonzola Crusted Sirloin, which may be the thing he looks forward to most when we visit my family in Warwick. The portions are generous and beautifully plated, though thankfully lacking the superfluous trappings of more pretentious, pricey establishments. If you've not had the Pear Potato, you absolutely must. It's a testament to the personal attention given, by the Chef, to each dish. As if the appetizers and entrees were not enough, the dessert menu always presents a pleasantly difficult decision. The house made ice creams are a must - especially the Cinnamon and the Cannoli Ice Creams - oh my goodness! My mother, who cannot eat dairy, fell in love with the Blackberry Sorbet on our most recent visit. The freshness of the berries was undeniable; absolutely wonderful! An oft overlooked feature of this fine dining establishment is their after dinner libation selection. The Landmark keeps a lovely stock of ports, which I love, and my mother was thrilled to find out they carry Sambuca, and serve it with coffee beans, just the way she prefers. We always enjoy finishing our meal with an adult beverage or a delicious Coffee with Amaretto. While the food, the drink, and the atmosphere of The Landmark are certainly enough to make me a lifelong patron, it's the warm, welcoming demeanor and friendly conversation with the proprietors, Mike and Rachel, that really make this place exceptional. read more

My husband And I enjoyed a nice dinner here the other night. Our waitress Amy was fantastic. She was warm, polite and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a bottle of Black Dirt Red (delicious) with our dinner. For starters, we had crab cakes and the lobster egg rolls with wasabi sauce (we highly recommend!) My husband had the filet mignon which he said was cooked perfectly. I had the duck and found it delicious and flavorful. For dessert we had some ice cream which Amy told us was homemade. Overall, it was a great experience! I loved the look and feel of this place. Very disappointed with our meal based on such a great reputation. But will give another shot when we return. My wife and I spent the weekend in Warwick on a romantic getaway, and our b&b owners as well as yelp had great things to say about the landmark. Our experience,was... confusing. We called ahead and arrived on time,Saturday night, to a nicely kept rustic/historic homestead right off the side of the road. Parking was tight, but fine. The coat check was friendly and we were excited to enter what seemed to be a family run establishment. We were promptly seated in a prime location,and I appreciated that. The menu really had our mouths watering, we ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine, and were enjoying the warm atmosphere in the wide planked side room full of character. The place was full on Saturday night even though there was no wait at the door. They seemed busy, but well run. Our drinks and apps were timely and delicious, and well executed, 5 star. The water boy was on his game and professional, our waitress seemed a little troubled to be working. Not particularly chatty,friendly, or smiling. But none the less we were happy to be here. However, the entrées were another story. A new server brought out our entrées, and his timing was great. Filet mignon in a demi glaze for me, and seared sea scallops over risotto for my wife. The sides were tasty, and the filet was a perfect med rare as ordered, but the demi glaze tasted like a salty bbq sauce drenched all over the steak. It completely ruined the entire point of a prime cut of delicious meat. Maybe it was an honest rare mistake, but if intentional, it over powered the filet completely. Now the scallops, which were $3 more expensive than the chateau Hawthorne. The plate arrives with 4 scallops for the entrée. One is very under done, one is perfect, one is burnt, and the last is very burnt. Scallops,as you may know,are very delicate and require very little cook time, so something like this can easily overcook if distracted. So after the kitchen served us a very uneven and clearly poorly executed dish,we tried it. The scallops were cooked in peanut oil!!! They were completely drenched in oil and all you could taste was a mouth full of peanuts. Next was the risotto, not even cooked halfway. Completely hard and crunchy,it actually hurt my teeth. And my wife essentially ate 1 scallop. So,I get it,this isn't a ritzy restaurant, it's a rustic,cozy place. But,when you charge high end prices for high end dishes, you can't screw them up this badly. You would think this would have been quickly resolved, nope. Not one soul checked on us the rest of our meal. It was a Saturday night, so I understand being busy, but after ordering filet and scallops, somebody should have confirmed they were cooked properly. At this point,I was curious how the waitress would handle us asking for a check with my wife's plate 3/4 untouched. Would she ask if everything was ok with the $33 scallops still on her plate, nope. In fact she asked if she could wrap them, since scallops reheat so well the next day. After she was oblivious, and didn't notice the burnt Scallops she was throwing away, I mentioned to her the issue, you know since no one previously cared enough to check on us. She seemed blind sided and started to blame me before walking away. I tried to be very polite,and not sound accusatory, but to just be factual about the food. I wanted to give her the chance to make it right. After giving her every attempt to notice the obvious,I had to tell her. She left for awhile and did remove the item from our bill. I was curious if she would handle it the right way,and I believe she did, so I tipped her over 20% to show no hard feelings. I don't blame her, even though she was a bit of a wet blanket, but this place, service, and food, did not live up their prices on this trip. Would have had the apple crisp dessert which looked delicious but we were too full. It was a busy night there and they were well staffed and the service was attentive. I understand that is the job of a hostess, but it only takes a little thing to make quite the impact on an experience at a restaurant, and that was definitely something that stuck with me and made my family's experience that much better!! First of all, a word of advice, DO NOT enter this restaurant's address into your GPS or Google Maps it will try and direct you into the middle of a lake! Just stay on Rt 94 until you see it. My fiancee and I came here to sample the food because this establishment does catering for a venue that we were looking to get married at. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed. We found the food to be on the bland side with none of our dishes being memorable. The scallops and chicken dishes we had were rubbery and dry respectively. Even the coffee and dessert were sub par. This was all highly disappointing because we really were hoping to get married at that specific venue but the food here is going to cause us to highly reconsider. In addition the wait staff was virtually non-existent. Our waitress took our order and that was about it. Kitchen staff did everything else, including taking away dishes, refilling water, and even getting our check! The place only had two other tables seated yet we were completely ignored by our waitress. All in all what a shame. The Landmark Inn held a lot of promise but it only succeeded in letting us down. read more

Authentic American cuisine. They have a formal dining room with a dining menu and a separate bar room that has a less formal feel and menu. You can order from either menu in the bar. The landmark is in a beautiful old building, nicely restored and is a great spot to enjoy a well cooked meal. The building has a bar section and a sit down restaurant. Our waitress told us that yes there is a ghost however she has not experienced anything. She also told us why the ceiling is covered in doors. You will have to go to find out why =) We sat in the restaurant section and I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I expected more Pub Grub and initially was shocked by both price and menu offering. However my meal was delicious and I learned another lesson about judging a book by its cover. Unfortunately there are almost no local wines from the local vineyards on the wine list. I mean the restaurant in located on a wine trail, seems like a great idea to me to have those vineyards featured on the wine list but that's just me. Entrees were $20 and up. Not sure if I would go back but I would recommend it as a place to go if in the area and you need a good sit down meal. read more

Disappointing. Been coming here for many years and always enjoyed it. However, last nights dinner was a bad experience, I understand and accept that employees are hard to come by, but we waited an hour and a half for our entrees. The salad and the seafood chowder were quite good. The risotto with scallops was delicious. The medium rare strip steak I ordered must have gone to someone else. The one I received was cooked all the way through and gristly. I didn't bother returning it because we had already been there for an hour and a half. They comped us our drinks. Would have rather they comped me for the inedible steak. I understand all the difficulties that restaurants are facing but is it that hard to pay attention to cooking a steak appropriately? By the way, I tipped the waitress as if they didn't take drinks off the bill. Not her fault. Maybe someone should dock the cook. read more
