Absolutely 5 star experience! We are from NYC so I'd like to say we know good food (and bad) and this experience absolutely blew us away. Honestly, there weren't a lot of dinner options in the small town we stayed in, so with few to choose from, we decided to try this spot. After dining I would now say I would choose this spot over and over and hope to visit again! We ordered beef empanadas & calamari apps, ceviche & short rib for dinner. The food was 9.5/10 stars. My only complaint was that the calamari was slightly salty but it was still delicious. My fiance had a glass of California cab sauv (Bonanza) that the waitress recommended and it paired so beautifully w/ the short rib. *We will probably grab this bottle for dinner at home in the future - it just goes so well with a red meat dish. The whole bill - 2 apps, 2 dinners, 1 glass of wine - and a tip of over 20% - $185 - reasonable and worth every penny. The service was superb - Aggie was just so wonderful and made the experience 10/10. She is definitely an experienced server. She came to check on us appropriately, but didn't bother us too much, if that makes sense. She was very polite and attentive to us and our allergies. We got to speak for a few moments since we were some of the last people in the place, and she was honestly just kind. Annalise, the bartender, stopped by with the bottle when we asked to see the exact wine we ordered bc we loved it so much. She spoke with us about the wine for a bit and was also such a lovely, sweet touch to end a perfect evening celebrating. *note to the owner - please update your menu on your website. Our visit was 10/23. We always read the menu in advance to ensure there are options for us (both have dairy allergies). I was so bummed when I didn't see the puttanesca dish on your menu which was on your online menu because I was planning to order that. Luckily I was happy with the ceviche instead, but there weren't many other alternatives given our allergies and the fact that I don't really eat meat. If the ceviche wasn't on the menu I would've been deeply disappointed. - the allergies and preferences are totally a me problem, but accurate online to in person menus are essential for guests like me. :) In summary - the food was delicious and presented beautifully, paired perfectly with the recommended glass of cab, the whole vibe of the place is just so beautiful and quaint and the service just put the experience over the top. Came here because it was local and it was my birthday. Got dressed up just to be ignored. We sat for 15 minutes to order drinks and food. The only attentive person and hard working person in the whole place was the bus boy who I tipped personally (I gave my normal 20% to the waitress). She apologized and offered my one cocktail free. Last time I posted was a year ago (!!!), and we have been here MANY times since. Most recently was mid-March with a refreshed food and drink menu. I started with a wonderfully delicious Tuna Carpaccio - the tuna is so fresh and so thin, it practically melts in your mouth - and the yuzu vinaigrette is a perfect companion to the greens - well balanced! Next up, the always perfect Caesar Salad - the dressing is always delicious, and a perfect compliment to the fresh salad, wonderfully delicious anchovies, and every crispy crostini! Finally, another new dish - the Chilean Sea Bass - not even kidding, the best sea bass I've had in a while ... perfectly cooked and served with a hasselback potato (that I wanted 30 of), and delicious asparagus and rainbow carrots ... all presented on top of a smooth Mezcal Beurre Blanc (I could have just drank that). As always, OSHI... you never disappoint... and we will keep coming back! read more

This is a lovely spot for a special occasion up in beautiful Warwick, NY. The inn has several different areas for dining, all equally wonderful. The staff is excellent and the service top notch. It's a bit pricey. The food is very good here, but you might want to ask about portion sizes. Brunch portions were very large, while a dinner plate special of lamb chops was really very small and the lamb itself was overcooked...so you likely should be asking about temperatures of any meat you order. Had we asked, I'm certain they would have accommodated and if we elected tossed the dish back would have gotten a replacement. We had brunch on the porch on a lovely fall day and the view was wonderful. read more

Absolutely terrible. Food is way Overpriced and portions are totally inadequate. Drinks are extremely overpriced as well. Music too loud during dinner outside. Waitress wore too much perfume totally overpowering! My wife had short ribs, which came out on a little soup bowl and the portion should've been a kiddie portion. In the town of Warwick where there are so many great restaurants to choose from, I love the Old Stone House because it's got something special with its ambiance and charm, that you can't quite find anywhere else. Every meal, every drink has been fantastic so kudos to the chef and bartenders. I used to think it was a place just for special occasions but this fall I started bringing coworkers in for a few drinks and apps at the bar and it's become our new favorite place. They came out with a new bar menu and the burger is to die for. Thank you to bartenders Scott and Ian for always taking good care of us! The staff was sweet but not very attentive. The food was good, but small portions for the price. We wanted to do a family style dinner and share plates, but the portions were so small, we couldn't share. It took a while to get our drinks and at the end of the meal we got offered plates to share our food. Maybe understaffing issue. The interior was beautiful and the owner is kind. The cheese plate that had the truffle honey was magnificent. I ordered short ribs but it tasted more like a pot roast with two and a half teeny tiny potatoes cut in half as the side dish....I love potatoes and adjusted my meal to have them so this was kind of a bummer. We would have enjoyed our food much more but they were experiencing a fly issue which I'm fully aware they are working on. Overall ambiance and music was great. The history of the place is amazing and it's been tastefully restored. I think this place will be phenomenal when the kinks are ironed out. read more

What a horrible experience! We were there for a birthday brunch on 9/15/24. The service was some of the worst hospitality I have ever experienced. We sat on the porch on what turned out to be a very warm day. When asked if the 4 outdoor fans could be turned on, the waiter told us that only the owner had access to the fans from his cell phone and that he was in a meeting off-site. If in fact that was true, it makes absolutely no sense. Needless to say, the fans never got turned on. As we were eating, the hostess, standing at her station opposite the porch, was munching on a bagel while greeting guests! Not very professional. The food is mundane and nothing you can't get at a local diner! Inflating the cost of the food and drinks doesn't make a restaurant high-end. The F & B and the SERVICE must be impeccable! The owner should be embarrassed, it was completely amateur hour at this place. It's not enough to successfully renovate an old building, you actually have to have good food and service to make it! Beautiful ambience with many rooms in this old stone house. I would love to come back when it's warmer and can sit outside. They have a fire pit area which looks cool and a very pretty porch and outside seating area. We were seated in a room downstairs near a fireplace (which I love because I'm always cold). Service was great very attentive. Good was also very good overall. They start you with a rosemary focaccia bread. It would have been way better if it was warm. I had the short rib and it was really flavorful. It came with sweet potato slices which were under done and bok choy which I just don't like much in general. We ordered a side of spinach which was plain but good. My mom had the salmon. Also plain tasting but good and some lentils on the side that had a Spanish flair. I liked that but she didn't care for it. For dessert we split the chocolate lava cake which was really good. When I come back I want to try the burrata. read more

Service was very poor. Waiter was too much of a schmooze to start. Everything was "great". Incorrect cocktail brought out before we put in our dinner order. It took an hour and a half and THREE requests to the waiter before I got the correct cocktail. The bread brought to the table was 2 pieces of focaccia with a dipping sauce. One was about an inch square; the other less than that. That is NOT an exaggeration. I had the papperdelle which I admit was delicious. My husband had the pork schnitzel. He needed a meat cleaver to cut it. It was definitely overcooked and/or reheated. We will not be returning any time soon. It's pretty pricey so I would think twice about going. read more

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner there. The food was delicious. Even the vegetables were wonderful and I don't like vegetables and usually don't eat them! Both our appetizers and entrées were unique and delicious. The drinks were perfect and our waitress was just wonderful. I'm normally a very picky eater and very critical of restaurants. Beautiful grounds and love the ambience. Bar was nice and cozy. This was our first visit. My wife's Filet, ordered medium came out more well done. My Ossobuco just was not good. It seemed to be not cooked enough, and definitely did not "fall off the bone", and somewhat flavorless. Others in our party of 10 felt like the braised short rib was not good either. On a good note, the appetizers were good, bread was good and we had a great waitress (Kate) in a private dining room. 1400.00 bill for 10 people including gratuity. Gorgeous with well appointed decor. The vibe, service and staff were all top notch. Having lived and dined in NYC for many years, I'd compare this to a Soho vibe with high quality food, prepared and cooked perfectly with excellent presentation. My friends had the filet and the chicken - they loved it. I had the salmon which was good. After dinner, we headed to the lounge for dessert and after dinner drinks. Okay, let's start with the good. The restaurant is lovely. It has been renovated with TLC. I have eaten here twice and both times were hit and miss. For the prices and sizes of the plates it should be more "hit" than miss. Meat was overcooked Sides underdone Dessert was spot on ! Ordered braised short ribs / received a chuck roast which was not short ribs - tough - had to use force on my knife to cut it . Some restaurants use chuck as a cheap substitute for the good stuff . The Old Stone House Inn is a great addition to the Warwick area - we had a great dinner last night and will definitely be back. It's only been open since September - I wish we'd found it sooner! The owners renovated the building and grounds and obviously put a lot of care and thought into every detail. It was a bit warm yesterday afternoon so we opted to sit in the bar area (which is really nice - the pictures online don't do it justice) but next time we go we will either sit on the back patio or the porch - they both look so inviting! Anyway - for dinner last night we shared some appetizers and an entree - since we were sitting at the bar - my husband had the tacos which he loved and then had some of my burger. The burger was one of the best I've ever had - the cheese sauce which is served on the side, was incredible! Also great to dip the roasted potatoes in! I also had a cocktail - a Paloma - which was very good. Overall we really enjoyed The Old Stone Inn and are already planning our next visit back. read more

Enjoyed a lovely Christmas Eve dinner at General John Hathorn's former home built in 1773. Started with truffle pierogies and caesar salads then onto filet mignons and strip steaks all delicious and prepared as requested. Nice bottle of red to pair. I have been there about 3 times now and I really love it. Only didn't give it 5 stars because they do have a lot of service issues. For example one time they didn't have a table for me that I reserved. But this is a fairly new restaurant so service hiccups are expected. The food and ambiance are excellent. I've tasting almost everything on the menu at this point and it's fabulous. Brunch was amazing as well. They also give you generous portions for a fine dining establishment which I love. My two daughters took me out for Mother's Day today ordered the pork schnitzel. It was so overly deep-fried could not even cut it how to get a steak, knife, mashed potatoes or watery they put a little bit of cabbage on it your eye, the woman that I think was the owner Apologized for taking our food order. We asked for refill on our drinks. She did not refill my bloody Mary until almost finished with dinner. She just kept saying OK OK steak was good. The table next to a family of about eight people was there us them out their appetizers or salads, man who was bringing out the food to the table didn't even know who ordered what he had to ask the people at the table, including us didn't even have a regular waitress for a Mother's Day and the prices three of us the bill was over $200 face was pretty inside, but I think the woman taking the orders was maybe the owner they had no waiters or waitresses just people serving the food. It was absolutely ridiculous. I mean to blatantly look at you in the face after you want to order another mimosa and order one bloody Mary. She looked at us and said OK disappeared and also when we arrived, we had to wait almost 20 minutes for someone to come over which was the owner apologize for the delay so where was our waitress? She didn't show up today for work I guess and then by the time we got a big salad with maybe three sliced strawberries three pieces of mango the pineapple was so teeny tiny that was their special salad and barely any dressing that took at least another 45 minutes. They need to get their shit together. I will not recommend this restaurant nor go back it was a waste of money. read more

A perfect storm. That describes my visit to Old Stone House. The grounds are undoubtedly beautiful, with extensive renovations and beautiful landscaping. The restaurant however, is comically incompetent! We were begrudgingly seated in the outdoor patio area, after the host tried to literally squeeze us in to a spot at the bar for dinner-between two large gentleman. The patio was pleasant-with huge umbrellas over the tables. After we ordered- a terrible thunderstorm blew in and the manager insisted that we all come into the dining room. That was fine,however we had just been served our paultry cheese plate and fishy ceasar salad. The manager wouldn't be undeterred-so us, along with staff and three other tables of diners -ran thru the downpour-into the dining room. Grapes and crackers were floating in my husband's cheese plate- but the bus boy said he'd try and "salvage" it. We declined. The bartender served my husband's "bourbon neat" with crushed ice and water- he sent that back. For $30 he received a half a finger of bourbon instead. The polite waitress told all of us storm refugees that the kitchen was "backed up"-and that our entrees would take some time. That's fine-it happens. Two hours later -we were still without food. The restaurant did bring us complimentary chicken wings to tide us over-but at that point we wanted out. A lovely couple who were seated next to us and shared in our misery-actually made the night bearable-and we all just had to laugh at the absurdity of it all. The bus boy was squishing past-with soaked sneakers -but still was pleasant and attentive. None of this was the waitstaff's fault. Finally-after 2 hours and 15 minutes-my husband received his burger with a dry bun, and monstrous potato wedges. My meal of sliced skirt steak with peppers and onions, and 3 slices of potato was nothing special-and certainly wasn't worth waiting all that time for. We picked at our meals and physically got up from the table to find our waitress for the check. We were finally making our escape-but not before I asked them to kindly remove the cheese plate ($24) that we didn't eat. read more

2 couples went there for an early dinner on Friday, May12th. The place and outside was beautiful, and the staff was very friendly and responsive. The initial problem was the wine list. I ordered a Italian from 2017, but the waitress brought out a 2020, but she told us the one on the list, which she said was for 2019, wasn't available. The food itself was just OK; my wife's appetizer as well as mine, was tasteless, and my friend and I wanted to split a cowboy steak that we ordered medium rare. What came out was a rib eye that was cooked more than medium well! We sent it back and ordered a porterhouse for $135.00 also to be cooked medium rare. It came out almost raw, and the mean itself had sinew all throughout, making the meat uneatable! We told the waitress about this and said she was sorry and would tell the chef. My husband and I went last night, had a 6:45 reservation. We were seated promptly at the patio area. The host asked us if we wanted water to which we said yes. We then sat there for 25 minutes, did not receive water or any kind of service. During those 25 minutes I saw others not being attended to, which made us get up and leave. I have never left a review before, and consider myself to be easygoing, but this was truly an awful experience. read more
