Another project we had was to remedy an efflorescence-stained faux rock wall resulting from an ill-designed waterfall feature put in by the previous owner of the house in the front entry atrium. Otelio, the Veliz Masonry owner, contacted the manufacturer of the faux rock wall and discovered a staining method that could be used to bring back the original colors and luster of the damaged wall (see photos). They did an absolutely wonderful job of restoring the wall to its original beauty and we couldn't be happier with the results, which exceeded our highest expectations. Finally we had Veliz remove about 120 lineal feet of loose or damaged brick capstone off of retaining walls in our back yard and replace them with a high end Sonorastone flat wall cap (see photo). Again, Otelio and crew did a masterful job of installation to greatly enhance the beauty of our backyard. Otelio, his sons Manny and Diego, and his brother Gerry, were the crew who did all of the work. They performed in a highly professional manner and paid attention to every detail to ensure a super high quality job. Prior the starting the work they meticulously prepped the work area to protect against damage and were very conscientious about cleanup as the work progressed. They kept to the work schedule, showing up on time each day and putting in a full day's work with excellent communication throughout the duration of the project. It's refreshing (and rare) to find such a great contractor that is so attuned to the customer's needs. Veliz Masonry is the real deal and are honest, courteous, hard-working and very talented in their trade, providing a superior product at a fair price. What really made them stand out from all of the other quotes we received for this project was the very detailed quote, the quality of work we could see in their previous jobs (yelp reviews), and most of all the quick responses/communication. They didn't just remove my old concrete and pour new, they actually helped move and adjust parts of my sprinkler system in multiple locations so that not only would it not get damaged, but would be accessible when I need to repair/move it in the future. That level of care and attention to detail isn't something you will find with every company, and I really valued it. They worked efficiently, always arrived on schedule, and communicated clearly throughout the entire process, so I was informed at every step of the way of what was happening, and what to expect. Great work all around…read more Their is one bad review for response time for a quote (from Irvine) and one unsatisfied customer in LB. No one is perfect and I am sure that holds true for Alan. But consistently, Alan gets great review. MY experience was awesome. I reached out to Alan about 1 1/2 years ago. Told him I would like a quote. He came out..talked me through everything, surveyed the yard and came back with a quote quickly. I then ran into a financial situation and couldn't do the job. Alan waited 3-4 months and called me to check on me. No pressure...just seeing how I was doing. Eventually, my finances cleared and I was ready. Alan gave me a computer design and it looked awesome. We agreed on a start date and away wen went. Alan and his guys started the job on time. Alan always kept me in the loop and I never felt like he was ignoring me. The same guys showed up every day (consistency) and Alan was very involved. Alan fixed a BUNCH of stuff in my front yard that was not even in my contract. And DIDN'T charge me for it. He replaced a few plants that didn't make it when planted...for free. He revamped my irrigation system at a reduced price. Yes...I spent over $30K on the job...but he didn't nickel and dime me and really treated me well. But here is the most important thing..Alan listens. He is NICE. He is patient. He is responsive. He is calm. My dog escaped one day and Alan IMMEDIATELY called me and we found our dog. He didn't have to do that. I am currently going through a hard time with another contractor and I called Alan up and asked him for advice. He ALWAYS answers...or calls back....or texts. In this world of shady contractors and HORRIBLE landscapers (here's looking at you SGV), Alan is awesome. Trust him with your job. You will not regret it. Oh...and my re-design is beautiful. After searching high and low for reliable landscapers who also had a design sense and would bother to call back over a small project, we went with Alan. As a designer myself, it was very important we went with someone who would pay attention to the details and bring new ideas to the table. Alan does that and more. We walked the yard together and within 24 hours I had a contract in my email. After making some minor adjustments we quickly set appointment to begin work. The work was done sooner then expected and looks amazing!! There were a couple things that needed adjustments (minor things like weeding in spots) and Tony came within 24 hours to fix those small things. Those things aren't even the best part about our job with Tony.... My husband and I noticed a large amount of standing water in our front yard and once again we called Tony! Keep in mind that the standing water had nothing to do with the work that he did but a combination of problems with my neighbors sprinklers and a main sprinkler valve that was close to bursting causing the water build up. He was at our house the next day and stayed until 10pm trying to figure out the problem. He then came back early the next morning and fixed the problem!! The cost for the repair was very reasonable considering the amount of labor that it required! We are so thankful to have worked with Tony and TG Designscapes! What I didn't realize after demolishing them was the fact that the price to replace them was astronomically high. I received at least 7 bids throughout Yelp and everyone gave me prices that made no sense to me. Instead of replacing them with the bricks I search for Iron fence installers. Before I went with the Iron Fencing, I asked 1 more person. His name was Alex Serna, the owner of HPE Concerete. We spoke through the Yelp chat and he quickly came over in 30 minutes, gave me a plan, showed me what he could do and told me he can build my columns the next day. What was surprising was his super fair price. He actually gives you the exact price of the materials and the market price of the labor. What I can say is that installing Iron fencing was almost the same price as installing 2 Brick Pillars. I got to admit I was hesitant because of the competitive pricing. However, I took a chance and had Alex and his team come over next day. They worked diligently to make sure what they build was of the highest quality. The workmanship was very, very good and of the upmost quality. I would ignore the other reviews of him being late. Seriously, if you give him a chance he will be sure to do his best and give you the best service and pricing.

He sent workers to my home on a Tuesday without any prior notice, and they told me they would return on Saturday once I had the sealant ready. Saturday came and went, and no one showed up or contacted me. He ignored my calls and messages afterward. To make matters worse, they didn't bring enough cement for the job and started using my own bricks to fill the space without asking or discussing it with me. This showed a lack of preparation and professionalism. Based on my experience, I would not trust what he says. He will leave you high and dry with unfinished work and zero communication. I now have to hire someone else to fix and complete the job.

From the beginning Isaias was an ease to work with. He returned my call, talked to me about my plan, came out and measured and gave me a bid, had very fair pricing, and kept me updated on the start date. He also allowed me to meet him at the nursery to pick the plants/colors that I wanted for my yard. When Isaias and his crew started, it was a pretty quick two-day process. He and his crew were very responsive to my design ideas. I wanted a berm next to a dry riverbed to give the yard some texture. Yet, Isaias and the guys also added their expertise on things I would not have known to do and design ideas that increased the beauty of the landscape. The materials (bark, stone) are really nice quality. And they left everything clean and tidy. In the end I was happier than I ever expected. Now all I want to do is sit out front and watch the beautiful plants grow and the birds and lizards make their homes. I'll attach photos of the before and after, but seeing their work up close is really impressive. Isaias, Jose, and the wonderful crew of guys they had, made the whole experience fun and rewarding.
