We finally made it to Landy's for dinner. We snagged a table on the deck and got to listen to live music. The service started out great, but once we had our dinner our server sort of disappeared. The young man who was running around bussing tables was VERY helpful. He grabbed us some condiments we asked for and went to find our server so we could get another "beer." Food was very good! We shared a fish fry. It was huge! We also tried the short rib fried balls... It was supposed to be short rib, cheese and potato fried into a ball. They could be way more generous with the short rib. The 3 we had didn't have much short rib at all.. mostly potato. All in all we will go back for sure. read more

Nice atmostphere - particularly on the deck. But that's where it ends. The hostess was't friendly at all....Soup had no flavor and prime rib was cold! They took it back to heat it (which they said they did by putting in the au jus) and it came back...less cold. The green beans were so stringy they were inedible. They took the prime rib back (it was all pretty inedible) and took it off the bill....but did a manager ever come out to apologize? No! And it was early evening and no crowd so I don't know why they couldn't make the time for that! read more

We drove past this place and commented we should try them soon. Well, we went for my Birthday dinner. This place is amazingly decorated with a beautiful aqua blue booths and very cool woven wicker chairs. 3 or more quaint dinning rooms. The beach Ambiance is awesome, with tiki bars too. The service was top notch with Jay as our server. All his recommendations all spot on. Two appetizer: calamari and deep fried cauliflower special with Asian sauce. Both were very tasty. Two had the flounder plates, 1 mahi-mahi with rice a pineapple salsa topping which was amazing!!! One fish and chips also very good. Martinis were spit on and reasonably priced. Birthday dinner, party of 3 totally disappointed. I ordered the rib eye steak rare and it came out well done. They replaced it with a medium well ribeye. It was very thin and it was the toughest piece of beef I've ever had. One of the others at my table ordered the NY strip and it was also very tough. The 3rd person ordered a fish entre that he enjoyed. The only bright spot of the evening was our waiter, Hunter. He was very gracious and took the ribeye off the bill and brought a complimentary drink to help an otherwise poor experience. Would not recommend and will not return. Perhaps they should take the beef off the menu. read more

The staff was friendly but the ambiance was missing and the musty 'we've flooded before' scent is ever present. The remodel is 'interesting'. My husband and I have been visiting our son who is a Project Engineer working on the Venice Beach restoration project. Monday we were in search for a nice place to eat lunch. We were looking for good food with great ambiance and service. Something that is really hit or miss these days. We travel for work a lot and often we use reviews to pick our eateries. Monday was no different. We had been to a few "Tiki" bars and ended up really disappointed. My husband suggested Landy's and though the reviews are not all 5 Stars I am so glad we gave it a chance! At the time of this review we have now eaten there twice, back to back and both times were on point. The exterior of the building does the interior no justice...zero...notta. Do not judge this book by its cover! The interior has an upscale but warm and inviting feel. Kind of gives off classy vintage Florida vibes. Monday we grabbed lunch there where my husband had the soft shell crab sandwich and fries and I had the Ahi Tuna bowl. We were both floored at how flavorful these dishes were and the prices were fantastic. I honestly felt like whoever was in the kitchen actually liked their job and it showed. Simple yet bursting with flavor and the presentation was on point! The service yesterday was a little slow but the food more than made up for it. Today we decided to go for lunch again. This time my husband tried the Gulf Cioppino. He has had this dish several times including Carmines in Chicago and more locally at Cassarino's in Venice. He thought it was delicious and ranked right up there with Carmine's and it was half the price. I was going to try something different but the Ahi Tuna bowl kept calling my name. It was just as delicious and beautifully plated today as it was yesterday. We took some of my bowl to go so my son could try it. He travels a lot and said this bowl blows the socks off of others he has had. I agree with him completely. Oh and the portions are fantastic. Service today was excellent. I hate I don't remember our waitresses name but she was fantastic. Landy's if you read this we were there around noon today, 8/4/26 and whoever the shorter waitress was she was great. Please let the kitchen know how wonderful our meals were. We had an amazing experience here! It has just been remodeled after Hurricane Damage and it is magnificent! The food was great too! I had a Philly cheese steak-and loved it! Very tender steak and the perfect amount of peppers,onion and cheese! I will definitely be back to have it again! My friends had the ribs! Loved every bite!! The scallop po-boy was delicious as well! Came here with reservations at 4pm. Got seated relatively on time. 20mins or so came a very nice waitress asking if we'd been helped. Took our order. 2 hrs later still no food with waitress apologetic with order and wait. Went to front to ask for manager/owner. Our food came over-cooked and cold shortly after. Asked waitress for manager. Waited 15 mins and no one came. Our waitress gave us 2 drinks on the house. She was wonderful. We decided to leave. Gave waitress some money for her efforts. On my way out let front staff know we hadn't talked with manager, ANDRE and made sure everyone in lobby knew of our experience. The worst part of our lovely trip to Englewood. read more

This is 5 star restaurant. We made a reservation for 14 dinners. They had our table ready for us. The waitress's were very attentive and knowledgeable about the food. Their prices are very fair and food quality was excellent. We started with the Lamb barley soup. Then ordered the stuffed flounder and Grouper sandwich. OK Food, Nice Setting Sitting at the end of a channel off of Lemon Bay, this eatery has rebuilt from storm damage and provides a great patio area that looks out over the water. We started off with a few drinks. Fountain Diet Coke ($3.75) and a Amberbock draft beer ($6.50). My wife had the Blue Crab Salad Croissant ($17.90) and I ordered the Blue Cheese Burger ($17.50). The Blue Crab salad was probably the best crab salad my wife has ever had at a restaurant. The onion rings were wonderful with a very light, tempura type coating. Crispy and still tender inside. My burger was a half pounder topped with plenty of blue cheese on a good bakery style roll that held up well. The burger was cooked as ordered, a perfect medium rare, but I did not get the good beef flavor I was expecting. It was just ok. The fries, the bomb. Twice fried, extra crunchy outside, soft and pillowy inside, perfectly seasoned. I think the cole slaw was to have a lime vineagrette dressing. I didn't find the slaw to have much flavor. Service was a bit slow which was surprising as there was only a few people there. As we were just driving through that area, it made for a good lunch, but we'll try other places next time we're in the area. read more

What a great find! My husband and I took a drive south last week and decided to try Landy's. We sat outside and had a spectacular sunset view. My husband had the fish and chips, and I had fresh wild Mahi. The fish and chips was a huge piece of fish and perfectly crispy. My Mahi was cooked to perfection! My Mahi had spices on it, an innocent error, and Sean, the manager, was at our table in the blink of an eye, offering an apology and ensuring a fresh piece would be right out cooked without the spices, and it was! Darian our server was a delight. Personable, knowledgeable about the menu items and extremely diligent with checking on us and our needs. We returned last night because Sean, (fabulous guy with a knack for impeccable customer service), reached out to us about fresh red snapper caught yesterday. We had spoken on our first visit about our desire for only fresh, wild caught fish. He made a reservation for us and we came back last night. We had Billy as our server. (His family used to own the restaurant so he's extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant industry. Great, great server! We both had the snapper, mine filet, my husband had the full fish. Absolutely amazing dinner! The sides were cooked to perfection and sitting outside on the water made our experience even more pleasing. Fabulous live music was an added bonus! We were also greeted by Andre, the owner. Great surprise! Lovely gentleman with a hands on perspective! At first it seemed like our waiter Chance was caring and thoughtful, but things steamrolled from there. My husband and I ordered salad and mussels. That's it! When we got there we mentioned we were trying to get out of there quickly. So, you can guess what happened. After 20 minutes of our waiter chatting at the bar (which was otherwise dead save one girl as it was a little chilly out), our waiter finally realized he NEVER put our order in. He brought us bread as an apology but by now we're actually upset. Our evening plans were shot because he was not attentive with the kitchen and we were supposed to be somewhere else. Okay, we'll wait and see what we get. The salads came out first; it was all supposed to be together. Our waiter was very short with us putting them out, too, which caught me off guard. The mussels took 15 mins to come out and. They. Were. Terrible! I'm talking tiny frozen grocery store mussels. The sauce they were in was ok. We each ate a few but after giving them a chance, we dealt with Chance flopping our bill on the table. "I know you're in a hurry," he muttered as he ran off, didn't care how anything was or how we were or anything else. He ran away like he ripped a fart. Our heads about snapped, what even was that?? So we get up to tell him we're unhappy with the meal and he goes in to talk to the manager. When he comes out with a 25% discount on the mussels, we assert this is unacceptable. You know what this guy says? "Will that be cash or credit sir?" In what universe does an adult say that to a customer while they're telling you their problem?! We get to the manager and she was the only one I felt cared at all. She refunded the mussels but while we were explaining what happened, Chance comes in to screw up the night one last time and makes some catty comment about how bad the mussels were because we actually ate some!! While he's taking them to the back, right in front of his manager!! If I had any sense at all I would have just LEFT when he put that bill down. This place is a complete joke. 4 of us went to dinner and the fun began.We first asked for bread and were told that we could order bread as an appetizer, Who ever heard of such a thing.I ordered theirspecalty soup,it was like glue,you could stand your spoon up in it dumped a lot of flour in it.My friend and I tried their Jambalaya.rice was mushy and over cooked everything in it was assembled and not freshly prepared.I sent my jambalaya back and ordered a med rare burger it came out dripping blood.the others had mediocre dish or crabby stuffed flounder ,bready and thick sauced but edible.Ultimatley service was fine,We asked to sit at a specific table and were told it was reserved but no one ever showed up to claim it. Went here for a late lunch. Ordered the mahi mahi tacos and specified no dairy my husband ordered a prime rib French dip. After waiting 20 minutes order came out with cheese on the tacos. After another 15 minutes tacos came back with a tiny piece of mahi mahi in each taco with a little bits of tomato looking like they were washed off. Would have been nice if they actually had pride on their preparation , not even a bit of shredded lettuce to cover the fish. Server said I can send them back but they will deduct it from her pay. My wife and I had a very pleasant dining experience at Landy's Seafood Restaurant this afternoon. The service by Ms. Marlow was excellent. The menu selection was wide and varied to accommodate most tastes. The mussels and fish & chips were wonderful. The vanilla ice cream and caramel desert was a delightful ending to our meal. The ambience on the patio was a perfect balance of peaceful dining and mild Caribbean calypso music playing in the background. The prices were just right. And the best part was they are pet friendly ensuring furry dining companions are served with a refreshing bowl of water at your table.
