Searching for some local seafood while visiting. Non-descript decor of plastic fish and other minor nautical features. I bellied up to the bar during a mad rush of customers. The lone bartender was slammed with drinks for bar and inside and outside dining in addition to taking bar food orders. Still she managed to take my order of a shrimp boil, one of the dinner specials for $18. The gulf shrimp were big and crowded around sausage slices, red potatoes and two pieces of corn on the cob. A shaker of Old Bay accompanies the dish. I also got a side of their coleslaw. It actually was very good, not heavy on mayo and was made in house. But about 3 ounces for $3.50, I didn't think it was worth that. All washed down with a draft beer in a frosted pint glass. The servers and barkeep were friendly and none of the customers were in a rush. This is a very good locals spot. read more

It is beautiful inside! Way nicer than the way it looks outside!! Heidi was our server and she was delightful! Our food was a little off-my daughter ordered the Lobster Roll-it was served on a hoagie roll-so not what we expected-the crab cake I ordered was a little over done but okay- The 2 other entrees were good-they were the crab Cajun boil and Cod basket-they gave it a solid 5 stars! So overall the rating is fair-just avoid the crab cake and the Lobster Roll!! read more

I loved it! Went for lunch on a Friday maybe 2 pm. 1 couple at outside tables. 2 couples inside. So not crowded. Ordered a blackberry mojito - was amazing! just less ice and more drink next time . Very easy to down many. But I didn't, (wish I did) so no clue on how that'd go. Server was very friendly and attentive. Ordered Dozen raw oysters. Nice briny, delicious Virginia oysters. Ready almost instantly and super chilled. Makes me think they were shucked earlier. And also because they were lacking their liquor, their liquid gold. But still way tastier than gulf oysters. Didn't see any little crabs which are a special gift in many va oysters. My guess is, if they found em, they threw them away . Shame tho, cuz they're better than finding a pearl. Also got a basket of 8 fried oysters. Little too much batter for me to put them on my must have list, tho still somewhat lighter than other places. Also, not alot of flavor. Not sure where those oysters originated. But hey, it's a fried oyster and cooked perfectly. Took home the slaw and fries that came with the basket. Well, minus the 4 or 5 fries I ate. They were crispy outside, soft inside. I liked them. Enough to bring them home for the air fryer another time. Raw oysters came with cocktail sauce and extra horseradish. Love that option of adding more! Basket came with tartar, but I used the cocktail +horseradish. normally, I don't use lemon, or any sauce with my oysters. But like I said, fried ones, not much going on. Plenty of TVs with different options on each. Country music my personal fave, coming through the speakers. Very good seafood place. Small inside seating area but if it's warm enough there's a lot more outdoor space. Food was very good. I had the Cajun Crab legs, shrimp and sausage boil. Shrimp, potatoes, corn were spot on. Crab legs were a bit rubbery and couldn't get much meat and sausages were good but a little overcooked. My wife had fish and chips and was very pleased with her meal. Service was good and quick. Definitely worth a revisit. read more

Service was a little lacking. Our waitress didn't know the menu or pricing. We had oysters to start. They were good but small and pricey. We had blackened grouper and it was great. I wanted peel and ear shrimp and I was told they were farm raised shrimp. A seafood restaurant on the gulf and they serve crappy shrimp?? Weird. If you go get the prepared fish. I was there recently and again the food was not great. I had the snow crabs which are fairly expensive $39 and they were terribly freezer burned and I couldn't pull the crab out of the shell. I had to split the shells and scrape the crab out the service was very good. The young man was friendly and helpful but sadly every time I go, I'm disappointed by the food other than the clam chowder I've always had good clam chowder there. read more

Brought some friends from out of state looked at the menu before and it looked awesome. Server I think was new but had absolutely no knowledge about the menu, when food came out a few things were wrong and asked for extra sauces, she brought the extra sauces then at one point got aggravated and stopped checking on us, busser kept coming out staring at us, they closed in about 30 minutes. He finally came up and asked if he could clear the table because they were closing, as we were still eating. Our choice turned-out to be a very big disappointment leaving us a bit angry and taken advantage of. My husband ordered the shrimp basket, which consisted of 6 undersized (not your average restaurant size shrimp) small shrimp accompanied with approximately 10 french fries. I ordered the Haddock Fish dinner, which was a very small portion of fish. I am a fish connoisseur, the breading on the fish had an odd flavor. I can't eat french fries and asked for cole slaw instead, which was equivalent to 2 tablespoons in a tiny plastic cup. I didn't enjoy my meal. We won't be back ever!!! Tired of local restaurants around here overcharging and sending patrons home hungry!!! We both made ourselves a 2nd dinner within 1 hour of getting back home, ridiculous!!! It's not like we were paying for dining with a water view, because the only view we had sitting outside at the picnic tables was counting cars whizzing by on Placida Road. read more

First time here and am mad at myself I haven't come sooner. The mussels diablo appetizer was amazing and the sauce was made from scratch. My son had the lobster roll and he loved it. The fries were hot and freshly made with a light seasoning on them. Kept the Diablo sauce from the mussels to dip them in. We found Steamer's Oyster Bar. It's only been open for 7 weeks & obviously no one knows about it. I hesitated about posting this but definitely want them to thrive so am going to share. My husband first tried the clam chowder (5 stars) & then had the soft shelled crab which he said was awesome. I had the Hawaiian Coconut Shrimp sooo good. We both had the garlic Parmesan fries & slaw which were great sides. So drive on down Placida past Lemon Bay HS & Ken & Barb's (live them too) to check this out. Say hi to Beth at the bar. we have tried this place 5 times. I had fried oysters the first two and they were delicious. My husband had shrimp and his was great. The third time,I took a lot of family members and they ordered fried oyster ( I had raved and they loved oysters). they were terrible. They were small, funky and hard. I waited a while to go back and wanted to give them another chance.so we went back. I ask the waitress if they were in fact fresh shucked and told her what happened. She assured me they were. I tried them and once again dry.funky tasting and thin. She came around and ask me if they were better,and I should have been honest.,but I said they were fine. We had friends in town and they were able to accommodate a party of 9 very easily! Everything that we ordered was amazing and I think we ordered almost everything on the menu! The peel and eat shrimp was awesome! You get a lot too! They don't skimp! A few people in my party got the Captain Rich Bucket and it was amazing as well!
