First off, the festival was outdoors, but I thought it would be inside the mostly empty Samanea Mall. The weather was pretty hot and humid, but at least the rain held off in the afternoon. Upon arrival, we were given My Phone Eats First tote bags and sent on our way without any direction. There were certain vendors with Yelp signage, which indicated they would give samples, discounts or raffle ticket. Most of the food vendors only had tiny samples for us to try. That being said, I really enjoyed the coconut nutty treats and maple bourbon beef jerky. Glazed strawberries were extra sweet. I was not a fan of the sweet potato bread. The actual free items included Popcorn and Cotton Candy. Popcorn was nicely crunchy and salty. The blue cotton candy was fun to watch being prepared, but was very messy, sticky and melty. One of the food trucks had also set out some Fried Zucchini and Truffle Parmesan Fries. The zucchini was yummy, with delightfully crispy and well seasoned exterior. Fries were okay, but not much truffle or cheesy taste. Other vendors included natural soaps, decorated pens, jewelry, olive oil and pesto, etc. Most had very reasonable prices, which I appreciated. A bunch of them were doing raffles, and I ended up winning from a beautiful ELITE YELPER bracelet set made with black beads and gold lettering, created by Stylish Jools. Definitely felt so excited about that. I also got a Pokémon bag and fidget spinner. In addition, there were the cutest dogs for adoption. I fell in love with the gorgeous and sweet Husky, which I was able to play with throughout the day. Also got to watch dance performances and saw there was a Bounce House, School Bus play area, as well as Axe Throwing with a discounted rate of $5 to participate. All in all, a pretty good time, but it could have been more organized with clearer direction so we could manage expectations better.

The vendors all seemed very money hungry and even got totally ripped off by the beef jerky guy. We were told we can get free samples. Then he started ringing us up for some of the jerky we wanted to buy and said since we were buying, there's no point for him giving us a sample???? What???? I was under the assumption ax throwing would be free for elites, but it was half off. The only actual free items were popcorn and cotton candy (I think) and the line was crazy. Sidebar, I think the event would've been better inside the mall since it's a ghost town in there AND air conditioned. I dunno, the vibes were totally off. Not a win.

We started our dinner with an Appetizer of Rice Balls followed by an entree of Salmon in Orange sauce for my partner, and Shrimp & Clam Fra Diavolo over Linguine for myself. As we started to order our choices they also informed us they had initiated a new Price Fixe menu in case we decided to change. We stuck with our original choices but decided after perusing the Price Fixe menu we have to come back very shortly as it offers a great value. What's different about Monroe's is that it's offered 7 days a week except holidays, versus other restaurants that tend to limit the days or hours you can order off a Price fixe menu. It s a good deal at $39.95 for 4-Courses starting with a variety of Appetizers, followed by a choice of two salads, multiple Entrée choices including Pastas, various Chicken dishes, Skirt Steak, Port Chop or Pork Medallions, and Seafood including Red Snapper, Salmon, or Sole. When planning I spoke to Adam, Asher and Chris and all assisted me with planning everything to make sure all was good. When we arrived, all were seated and gave my wife a wonderful surprise welcome. The package included family style of several apps, choice of salad, pasta and for main course Chicken Sarpariello, Veal Marsala and Shrimp Luciano over Sauteed Spinach. All came out large portions of family style. After we enjoyed the main course, a while later they brought my wife's favorite, their Homestyle Napoleon Cake with coffee and we all sang Happy Birthday. Chris and Tony's were amazing making my wife's birthday celebration a success! Kudos to our servers Jacob and Brandon who were very attentive to us and on top of their game all night long. Every time food came out, they served each of us and whatever was left over was left on the table if anyone wanted more. It had me intrigued and I love Italian and eat halal so I thought let's try it! I made the reservation and was greeted by Tony the owner who was super sweet and accommodating! We were then waited by Nick and Joe who were both very attentive and gave great suggestions, they cracked some jokes with us too! We tried a variety of different foods, starting with the fried calamari and bruschetta which tasted phenomenal, there was six of us and we got rigatoni tesoro, chicken florentine, chicken francese, shrimp scampi and the salmon glaze. Each dish was made with love and tons of flavor. Very authentic Italian and a bonus for being halal. My family and I are super happy with the experience and we will definitely coming again!
