I have severe dental anxiety and knew for years that I needed extensive dental work. Because of several painful past experiences--and the cost--I avoided going to the dentist for a long time. In 2021, I searched for a dentist who specializes in treating patients with dental anxiety and found Metro Dental. My initial treatment plan estimate was overwhelming--more expensive than a used car. I met with the owner to prioritize the long list of procedures I needed. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for CareCredit or an in-house payment plan. To make the treatment possible, I signed up for a $3,000 FSA plan through my employer and used my $3,000 annual dental insurance benefit. Since both reset every January 1st, I applied the $6,000 each year toward the most urgent procedures. I also worked a summer job to save additional money. It took nearly five years, but I finally completed my treatment plan. Throughout the process, every dentist I saw was compassionate, non-judgmental, and highly skilled. I requied oral sedation, nitrous oxide, and topical numbing gel before injecting anesthetic for all procedures except for cleanings. I only need the nitrous oxide for cleanings. The oral sedation helped relieve most of my anxiety, and the nitrous kept me calm during procedures. I highly recommend the dentists at Metro Dental. The owner is especially compassionate and truly cared about me as a patient. The entire staff support helped me get through something I had been afraid of for years. read more

Simply put: don't go here. Or, if you do, go somewhere else after and get another opinion. I fell into the dental advertising trap. Advertising about catering to patients with dental anxiety. What they don't tell you, is that you get anxiety just by looking at the bill. I needed to get a couple root canals + crowns, or possibly extraction with a bridge. I have solid dental insurance(wife is a public school teacher), and they told me they could only use $3000 towards treatment. I thought that was low, but whatever, that was fine. I hadn't seen the bill yet. Then it hit me. $12,000, AFTER insurance. Had the feeling I was getting fleeced, so I went elsewhere for a second opinion. Got the work done, am now free of tooth pain, and only had to pay $1,900 out of pocket, after insurance. Going with my gut worked out. I don't blame anyone for seeing those pretty Facebook ads and wanting to stop in. I did. Just, if you do, go somewhere else after to get another quote. Other very good doctors can probably do it for much cheaper. Yea, they probably have to make up for high overhead, but that price I first got was insane. I was considering flying to Mexico or Thailand and getting it done over there, where there is world class dental service for much less expense. read more

Dental Cleaning. I am very dissatisfied with this business. I tried to support them and referred a few friends. I believe there is some type of fraud being committed here. I was asked to pay for service in advance and when I asked for my balance the husband could never provide the information. I do plan to contact my health insurance and the Maryland Insurance Commission to open an investigation. Unfortunately, I have to seek other assistance in that the Office Mgr is nonresponsive. He does respond to email queries, bypassed call and went straight to Voice-mail; Failed within a timely manner to refer to outsourcing for extraction and bone graft; antibiotic wearing off after 3-weeks. I attempted REMEDIAL Action but not heeded. BACK OFFICE IS FULL OF OBSTACLES. I should have written this review a looooonnnnggg time again. Today was my 4th time here. I was in search of a new dentist and saw this one on my way to take my toddler to his pediatric dentist. When you first walk in it feels like a high end Spa. From the decor, to the fire place it's pure luxury. I know some people don't like to go to the dentist but do yourself a favor and give this one a try! The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The hygienists and the dentist are all very gentle and personable. Each room has a flat screen TV on the wall to show you your teeth or to watch movies and when they lay you back there is a TV on the ceiling! The dentist is very thorough and always explains what she sees and gives suggestions. The office is extremely clean and neat! Convenient location and on site free parking. P.S. thee best part is they have a smoothie/milkshake machine. read more

I was extremely excited to find a dental practice that specialized in dental anxiety. I need a lot of work done and have been hesitant because I've had some bad past experiences. The office was warm and inviting and the staff was kind; however, I was completely thrown off after my assessment when I went to speak with the billing representative. Aside from the price of the work that was quoted to me, I was told I had to pay for my visit up front and a claim would be submitted to my insurance for reimbursement. I've never been in a situation like this before, but thankfully, I had the funds to pay. Fast forward, and my insurance paid out to the provider. I have reached out to Metro Dental to recoup the money I am now owed since they were double paid; however, they have been non responsive. I now am going to have to take off work to go up there and resolve this situation. I find this practice to be predatory and unethical and would not recommend this practice. read more

Scheduled an appointment for 5/20/22 at noon. Arrived and the front desk staff were very courteous. The waiting room was empty and I was immediately ushered to the exam room by the dental assistant who proceeded to take xrays then images of all my teeth. Upon completion, she went to get the doctor only to return shortly and inform me that she was very busy but would see me in 10-15 minutes. That was about 12:30 pm. I sat in the room responding to emails and lost track of time, until my best friend text me to ask how the appointment went... it was 1:33 pm and not a solitary soul had bothered to update or check in on me! At that point I left. I guess the reason they advertise that their patient experience is designed to alleviate dental anxiety is because you won't get to see a dentist! I was not really impressed with this practice. I scheduled an appointment because I have major anxiety and I saw an Ad on Facebook about how they work well with people with anxiety. Yet, no one even acknowledged that I came as a result of their targeted advertisement - even though I told them when I called to schedule my appointment. On my first visit, they say they want to do a deep cleaning. Yet, I have no cavities. I have no bleeding when I brush my teeth. I floss 100 times a day. I inquired and AI said NO CAVITIES means: "If you have no cavities, it means your teeth are currently free from any holes or areas of decay, which is typically a result of good oral hygiene practices; essentially, your teeth are healthy and resistant to the bacteria that cause cavities." Very disappointed. I was also asked to pay $289 upfront because they said "my insurance will bill me and the dental practice." This place should be investigated. Very disappointed. read more

First, I want to start this review by saying Dr. Williams was amazing. I would also like to say the front desk staff are very professional and customer-centric. Where it completely goes downhill is the office management/care coordinator. I do not remember his first name; however, his last name is Mbandi, and according to someone I spoke with, he owns the business. Often, the problem with business owners is that they need to learn how to manage a business. I found this business through Facebook ads. What appealed to me was that they offered painless dentistry (sedation). I absolutely do not agree with paying a deposit to hold an appointment; however, I reluctantly did. When you make an appointment, there is a $50.00 deposit to secure the appointment. My initial appointment was on February 16, 2024. I met with Dr. Williams and her dental hygienist, who were genuinely friendly and professional; after meeting with Dr. Williams, several issues needed to be addressed. Once the problems were identified, I was sent to the care coordinator (Mbandi) to discuss the treatment plan and costs. I informed Mr. Mbandi that my insurance was MetLife. Mr. Mbandi informed me that my maximum coverage with MetLife was $1500.00 maximum. I knew this was not true, and I asked him to call MetLife while I was there. He did call but could not get through. I asked him how he determined my maximum allowable cost was $1500.00. He stated, "There are other patients that have MetLife, and based on their coverage, it was determined that my coverage was the same." Because I had a wisdom tooth that was infected, it was determined that it should be surgically removed as soon as possible. The surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Here is where greed sets in again. When getting a procedure, you must pay half down and the other half on the day of the surgery. I had never heard of such a thing. Again, I agreed to move forward with the surgery. I told Mr. Mbandi that I needed to reach out to my insurance company and coordinate with someone who would take me to the surgery since I was going to receive laughing gas. Once I coordinated all of this, I would call back in with my down payment. I called MetLife, and sure enough, his information was wrong. I spoke with several people who gave me different information about the insurance. Nevertheless, I called back the same day and paid my down payment. I had a question about medication, so the staff told me to call back on Monday, February 19, 2024, to get the question answered. This is important because had I not called on Monday the 19th, I would not have known that my surgery was canceled for non-payment. I was told that I had not paid for the surgery, and the appointment was canceled and no longer available. I cannot remember the gentleman's name, but after further digging, it was discovered that I had indeed paid for the surgery. He apologized and told me he would give me an appointment for 9:00 am on Tuesday the 20th instead of the original 1:00 pm time slot. I informed him that was unacceptable. What should have happened was that whoever was scheduled for 1:00 pm should have been inconvenienced, not me. I had to scramble to find someone else to take me to the appointment. The gentleman I spoke with informed me that Mr. Mbandi would be notified of my dissatisfaction, and he would be contacting me. Needless to say, I have not heard a word from him: no apology or anything. Even after surgery, there was no follow-up to see how I was doing or anything. I had the Misfortune of going to the Metro Dental for Invisalign. the attachment kept falling off and the next appointment was hard to get immediately. They also charge a lot of money for fixing cavities so if you want to save money don't go here. Like as if the dental care in USA isn't already expensive!! These people care more about pocketing money than the actual dental care. Customers beware. Yes customers because to them you are $$$ money banks. After I find the bills (of two dentists treatment bills of the same cavity treatment in the Maryland area) . I will show how much extra they charge even after insurance. I was not happy with the end result of my Invisalign treatment. All that $5k gone. My new dentist had a few issues with the treatment too. I also didn't like the cleaning they did the second time around, they half assed it. They only do it the best the first time to get you thinking they are good place. Don't be fooled like me. My daughter suffers from doc/dentist anxiety, so I thought this would be a good place to get her work done. My daughter does need extensive dental work, which I understand, however the dentist came in & gave my daughter a stern talking to, and never once did she even examining her. I was charged $150.00. I was given a referral to Children's Hospital, and was told I should make an appointment there since my daughter needs extensive work done, and has anxiety. I was also told by Metro Dental that Children's Hospital knows my case, and they know you are going to call. Well, the next day I called and Children's hadn't a clue who I was, and I was placed on the 2 month waiting list. Once I sent the referral that Metro Dental provided, I was told they will not be able complete all the work that Metro Dental stated on the referral. I called Metro Dental back, and spoke with the dentist, and basically was told, there is nothing they can do, and I just need to go with the 2 month wait. Do NOT go to this place for crowns or other services besides cleaning. They will take your money and take forever to pay you back. My insurance said they mailed them a payment at the beginning of the month and I am still waiting on the billing coordinator to contact me for the money they owe me for paying MORE than what I was suppose to. This is terrible business. I am so happy that I decided to never conduct business with this place ever again. I was a new patient here and had a lot of anxiety since I haven't a dentist visit in a while. They took some special xrays that was not covered by my insurance and without a conversation with me paying. According to my insurance they would have told them that it wasn't covered. He immediately wanted me to have my services financed again before exploring my insurance. This was a turn off. The only reason I rated this two stars is because Dr. Williams was very personable. Then we get a bill for $2588 two months after the fact and a phone call from Comenity Bank stating we owe them money for work that hasn't been done! They are a total ripoff! DO NOT GO THERE! Very beautiful office paid for by the patients they are ripping off; went in for a service..was quoted 1,000 WITH DENTAL INSURANCE..I had previously been quoted half of that (489.00) at a previous dentist. I found another dentist that charged me less than the 489.00..just a note..do comparative shopping and stick with dentists in your dental plan network for the most cost efficient dental service. The staff are nice but that's about the only plus. They seem unorganized and are unresponsive (they don't respond to emails or calls. They'll tell you they'll call you back and won't). I also don't understand why the name of the business (Metro Dental), doesn't match the email address they use (Aurora smiles). They will overcharge you for basic things like cleanings and cavities and not be honest about your insurance coverage. I was lucky enough to catch the red flags and move to another dentist after my first appointment here (bi-ann basic check & cleaning). I went specifically because they offered free whitening in the ad for new patients - didn't receive that but to be honest it was probably for the best. I would not be comfortable here with anything past a basic clean. I went in for a basic check, I was initially told that I had two cavities and would need 2 fillings. Then, it changed to I'd need one filling but there's an area we'd need to keep an eye on. My new dentist said I had one VERY small cavity and no issues outside of that. I've had only one cavity before as a child. So two at once (or one and a "to keep an eye on" plus the price they quoted was an immediate red flag. They will also charge you upfront pre-service (for example, the filling they told me I need) and make you chase them to get the money they owe you back if you cancel the service with ample time. I was told on two occasions that I should receive my money in a few hours - I didn't. I did finally get my money back after much inconvenience. For starters, I was scammed by a dental office in Northern Virginia about a year ago, which is why I haven't been to a dental office since, simply based on the level of desperation that businesses are willing to go; even if that means breaking the law. So, after I moved to Maryland I decided to start researching and looking for dental offices and coincidentally came across this one while on Facebook. Please keep in mind, I was not using Facebook to look for dental offices, and seen this dental office ad while scrolling through my newsfeed. I read the information on the ad and decided to give them a try and scheduled an appointment on 09/23 to be seen on 09/25. However, while completing the form I was advised that I would need to pay a $50 deposit to schedule my appointment which would be refunded by my insurance company after the appointment was completed. Because I did not agree with this, and wasn't planning on pay the $50 deposit, I closed out of the appointment form and didn't go any further. However, to my dismay, the appointment was scheduled anyways, and I received a confirmation via email. After the appointment was scheduled, I also received a confirmation via text message on 09/23, and two reminder text messages on 09/24, and 09/25 from phone number (201) 579-9980. On 09/25, I received a final appointment reminder however, at this point, I had completely forgot about the appointment altogether, so I checked my calendar and realized that I had a scheduling conflict. In turn, I responded to the text message and explained that I had a scheduling conflict and needed to reschedule. However, the response I received alerted me that that I would be charged a $50 cancellation fee and if I decided to reschedule, I would be charged an additional $50 fee; resulting in me having to pay $100 upfront just to be seen for my initial visit. At this point, it definitely was starting to seem as though the dental practice was simply making up charges in an attempt to make money off of patients, because how does the rationale for $50 charges keep changing?! One minute your being charged $50 as a deposit for your appointment and the next your being charged a $50 late cancellation fee on top of being charged another $50 for rescheduling! This definitely does not seem like a dental practice that is financially stable because what ethical and fair business entity charges patients a $50 "quote on quote" deposit and then lies about the justification behind the charge by exploiting "that you will receive a refund from your insurance carrier after the appointment has been completed"?! This is not true, and from experience I know that once you pay the $50 deposit, dependent on your insurance carrier they will apply this payment to your deductible because most PPO plans have low deductibles which are $50. On top of that, they exploit on Facebook that if you do have insurance but choose not to use it you can pay $298 and be reimbursed by your insurance carrier; which is also not true! Insurance companies typically make it almost impossible for patients to receive refunds, and the only reason this dental office is exploiting that you can pay upfront and receive a refund is because they do not want to wait to be reimbursed by insurance plans/and or carriers because claim payments for services rendered by dental offices typically ranges between 30-180 days, so charging patients upfront ensures that the dental office is paid and can continue to function. However, "double billing" is illegal so requesting patients pay for services upfront, and in turn you receive a cash payment from patients and then turn around and submit claims to the insurance company for services you have already been paid for is classified as "double billing" which is insurance fraud. As I stated in the beginning I was scammed by a dental office almost a year ago, and they too told numerous lies about why I was being charged for services at random, and ultimately charged me for services which were covered under my dental plan! I am paying over $15,000 for a left front upper plate that I was told would be like normal tooth. Its not.!! Further they did not give me clearly what the charges would be, only after the fact and they just kept adding amounts to my bill. Right now my problem is food gets into the plate I have a space at the front of my tooth and I may have an infection. I have been calling their office to get a follow up appointment since December 3, 2021 and no one calls me back. I need to have my tooth plate looked at and I am not able to reach anyone. If they do not want to fix the problem they should refund me the amounts to go see another dentist as this dental work is not designed to function as normal tooth and is less that a few months old. I did not get the chance to get any kind of work done so this review is based on poor customer service and false advertising. I had an appt scheduled for a Friday morning at 7:30 am I submitted my insurance information on Monday night/Tuesday morning. I was constantly receiving reminders about my appointment, which is great. I called on Wednesday and spoke with a receptionist to make sure they received my insurance information and she said they did. I wasted my time going to metro dentist Friday morning for them to tell me my insurance is out of network and won't cover the charges, so no one thought they could have reached out to tell me that? The man at the desk assuming he was the receptionist he stated it usually takes 24hrs to Get the information back from insurance companies so from Tuesday to Thursday no one reached out? I then asked how much would it be out of pocket the receptionist said for the exam it would be 150 something out of pocket so I was cool with paying that, so the advertisement states for new patients free whiting cleaning for your teeth so when I asked the receptionist will that price include that, he told me no it would be 280 something so how is the teeth whiting free for new patients? There's no where on that advertisement where it states new patients who's only using insurance it seems like that will charge your insurance company for a service they claim they are doing for free. I do not like my time wasted nor do I like false information as a customer I do not appreciate it and as a business owner as well I make sure the services I provide are clear and not misleading. read more

This has been the WORSE customer service experience I have ever had in my life! BUYER BEWARE! I cancelled my appointment 7 days ago today because their office is unresponsive. Today, I called to check up on my refund and was told that they could "send me a check" though I paid by CC. After speaking with the owner (Ngu), I was told that "when they took my CC, the account the money went into no longer has money in it to process my refund and that I would need to be refunded a different way". I'm not sure what type of scam this business is running, but as a business owner myself of more than 25 years, NEVER, have I not been able to refund a customer using the original form of payment provided. This was a mistake from the beginning and I regret that I even entertained doing business with them. I started with Metro Dental in May 2019. Everything has been great thus far! I have no complaints. I was soon to have my braces off and was ready to have a new dentist. A yelp search led me to Metro Dental. The front desk receptionist is always pleasant. I've had two thorough cleanings for my 6 month checkups. I can't remember who did my first cleaning when I had braces but it was great job nonetheless. Randy did my second cleaning last week this time my braces have already been removed and it was a great job! I contemplated skipping a meal because of how squeaky clean my teeth felt. Today I had a double cavity filling. I was so nervous and anxious Linda, Anthony, and Dr. Lynn assured me tremendously that it wasn't going to be bad at all. I was traumatized from dentistry when I was a child. It was a great filling experience from start to finish I felt foolish for stressing. I've been to this dentistry twice and I'll never return. The first time I had a cleaning with anesthesia (my teeth are extremely sensitive) and an exam. The hygienist was beyond exceptional. The dentist took X-rays and said I had cavities under my fillings and 2 crowns that needed replacing. A second dentist in the office verified the first dentist's exam. I also had a conversation with the finance officer who said my bill would be $6,000! I felt like I was at a high pressured used car sales lot. I took the consultation to my dentist who said the consultation was fraudulent. My fillings and crowns were fine. I had an appointment today for cleaning ONLY at 10 am and waited until 11 am. No one came to say the staff was running late... nothing. I decided to leave. Be very cautious with this business and their fraudulent practices. If they even try to bill me for the visit I'll be contacting the American Dental Association and the MD attorney General. read more

Excellent service, an attentive staff and what a beautiful modern office! On my last business trip to the DC area, I was staying at the Metro Points hotel in New Carrollton. I developed a really bad toothache that weekend and it was so painful that I did not want to wait the whole week to see my dentist back in LA. I was worried about having someone other than my dentist take a look at my tooth, plus I did not think I could find a dentist open on a Saturday... to my surprise I found this dental office in the same shopping complex as my hotel. They have great reviews and this place looks so amazing! It looked nicer than my hotel and better than some high end spas in LA! LOL More importantly, the staff and Dr. Lynn were amazing and friendly and she did a root canal to fix my tooth and the pain was gone. She is the sweetest lady you will ever meet and really knows her stuff. This is the best dental practice I have ever been to and I wish we had something like this here in LA. read more
