Literally a hidden gem as others have also said. I remember coming here years ago and I said to myself this is the best funnel cake I've had on island. There are 2 options you can choose. The first is a regular funnel cake ($10.00) and you can choose either the powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar. The second is the fully loaded funnel cake ($13.00) and for $3 dollars more you'll have a funnel cake with powdered sugar, fresh bananas, whipped cream, ice cream, strawberry and chocolate syrup. You can also order extra toppings for $2.00 more. You have the option of either paying with cash or though Venmo which is very convenient for us. We decided to get both the regular and loaded funnel cake. The funnel cake was looked so good! It also tasted delicious! Honestly, I would recommend loading the funnel cake for $3 dollars more. The funnel cake was crunchy and warm. Having every bite with ice cream was perfect. The bananas was also fresh and there was a nice portion on the funnel cake. I definitely will come back when I'm in the area. Since I'm not always there, it's going to be a nice treat to eat their funnel cakes again. The owners are also really sweet and nice.
Wow! This place is literally a hidden gem, or well also hidden behind a bush... literally LOL. But no forreal, it's a really small tiny place with 2 picnic tables under a tent. The owners are a cute old couple who run this place. They literally only have one thing to purchase... FUNNEL CAKES! You can get it two ways: 1) Classic - a good ol' fashioned funnel cake topped with LOTS of powdered sugar, and; 2) Fully Loaded - a classic funnel cake topped with bananas, strawberry/chocolate syrup and ice cream! They also charge more if you want extra toppings. I can't remember the price of the Classic, but the Fully Loaded is $13.00 and it's cash only; however, they do accept venmo! Pretty neat for a place that accepts cash only and ran by an older couple... not even the shrimp trucks use venmo! Not many older people even know what venmo is lol. The funnel cake was soooo good! It was so crispy and warm and the toppings made it extra delicious. You can never go wrong with a big scoop of ice cream! I shared a Fully Loaded with my best friend since we just ate at Giovanni's, so we were full, but I always need dessert after eating! We looked for places nearby and I saw this was literally down the road next to other food vendors. It was a great place to try. If I'm in the area, I'd definitely stop here again. The owners were so cute and friendly and they let us stay there for awhile since my friend and I just talked stories. It was nice since we were the only customers there. Definitely make the drive out here or if you're in the area and want something sweet, but not too heavy definitely give this place a try. They were such a sweet old couple and I'd love to come support them again!
Ok so I have driven past Lani's more times than I could even count and never thought to stop by for carnival food. However, my husband had been begging me to go for months and finally We had a day off work when we could go. HE LOVED IT. It's the perfect funnel cake with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, and bananas on it. Where can you go wrong? You can't. It's delicious and perfect and there are no rides that make you hurl it back up moments later. If you love funnel cakes, this is the place to go.
I was craving something sweet and soft. Little had I known there was a funnel cake in my future. So I searched the boards and saw Lani's. I walked to a quiet corner and then i came across the cutest shack that is a family owned business, making the FRESHEST funnel cakes. So I had to get the fully loaded. Loaded with whip cream, delicious syrups and a heaping serving of vanilla ice cream. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!
Fully Loaded Funnel Cake 8.5/10 - powdered sugar, whipped cream, sliced banana, vanilla ice cream, and & syrups!? What more can you ask for. The funnel cake was perfectly cooked, nice and crispy on the outside, and spongy enough to soak up the ice cream and syrups. It's hidden in the back, next to the Kalbi on fire truck. We haven't been here since right before the pandemic! Lani (owner and maker of these wonderful funnel cakes) told me they'd just returned from New Zealand and were back to business as usual. This truck is located very close to the Kahuku Giovanni's truck. If you're in the area, stop by and get a freshly made funnel cake. Light, fluffy, crispy and not too sweet, this is the funnel cake of your childhood dreams.

Heard about this place serving really good funnel cakes so when we were in Kahuku in search of garlic shrimp (alas Fumi's is CLOSED!), we just had to stop by. It's a little hidden gem located just before you turn into the Kahuku food truck pod. Go slow because you'll miss it. Look for the sign and the gravel lot on the right as you head towards the food trucks. Parking a little tricky but you can either find parking in the gravel lot or park in the main one and walk over. Hidden in the corner behind ferns and plants you'll find a little stand manned by very sweet people. "Uncle" takes your order and "auntie" whips up the funnel cake. Please be patient because they are made fresh to order. We got the fully loaded ($13). Recommend getting this one! Comes hot topped with ice cream, fresh banana slices, chocolate and strawberry syrup and whipped cream and powdered sugar. Whoa! It's pretty big so get ito share. If you can't decide there's another option where you can get 3 smaller ones with different toppings like cinnamon. But no mess around - just get the Fully Loaded. The funnel cake wasn't soaked in grease but nice and light with a perfect crunch. We sat at one of the 2 red picnic tables and devoured it in less than 10 minutes . Kids wanted a Funnel Cake for dessert. Located by the food truck area, we enjoyed the local scenery waiting for his dessert being prepped by the owner who makes a beautifully presented dessert. There was a rooster in the bushes keeping us entertained. Recommend! read more

Aaaaahhhhhh heyyyyy heyyyy hey you shrimp heads, don't forget to stop here for funnel cakes coz they're just as good! I've had my fair share of funnel cakes and this was bomb. Crispy, fresh, hot. Folks were super friendly. They close at 6pm so make sure you don't go there too late. I was gonna get the Original. Then I changed my mind after seeing the loaded one coming out. So yeah get the loaded one! Why is it called funnel cake? How is it a funnel? I only know it funnels my calories to my belly and thighs. read more

Such a hidden gem, we found this place after Giovanni's. They had a couple of funnel cakes on the menu, we ended up getting the fully loaded and the serving was hefty. The uncle and auntie running this shop definitely gave such a homey vibe we will definitely come back again! read more

My family and I stumbled upon this place when we were looking for lunch, and I'm so glad we gave it a try. Funnel cakes are delicious, and I mostly find them at amusement parks, so I was surprised to see a funnel cake vendor! I ordered a regular funnel cake with powdered sugar, and it was soooo good. I thought I could finish one myself, but it was pretty big for one person. I'll definitely be coming back myself for some funnel cakes again whenever the craving kicks in. After lunch, definitely come by and try this place out. They are super friendly and sweet! :) read more

The North Shore is usually synonymous with shrimp trucks and beaches. But, during one of my more recent treks up north, I got to visit a hidden gem. Lani's Yummy Yum can't easily be seen from the road, but it's in the same area as Giovanni's in Kahuku. You park in that same area where there's an assortment of shrimp trucks to choose from. Lani's Yummy Yum specializes in funnel cakes - literally, that's all they sell. You can choose either sweet or savory. But, the location is rather hidden--it's in this little trinket shop that looks like all they sell are arts and crafts and the like. But, that's the entrance to Lani's. Just follow the wooden sign. We were the only customers during this time, and of course, we chose to order one of the sweet funnel cakes. We got the fully loaded one with bananas, strawberry syrup, ice cream, powdered sugar and whipped cream. I think the other sweet funnel cake option just comes with powdered sugar. Since we were the only ones there, it didn't take too long for our funnel cake creation to come out. I think it was around $10 but it was worth the price. I didn't have funnel cake much growing up; to me, it's a carnival food but at carnivals/fairs, I would often get churros or other sweet treats. I was just happy we didn't necessarily have to pay carnival admission fee to indulge in this deep-fried treat! We found seating at one of the picnic tables closer to Giovanni's; the aroma of garlic shrimp was everywhere. I love sweets, so this funnel cake definitely hit the spot on a sweltering summer day! The funnel cake was fried to a delectable, toasted golden brown - not overly crispy or fried. Since it was a hot day, the vanilla ice cream was melting rapidly (and the funnel cake was hot, too), but it provided the perfect, sweet, creamy relief. I scraped aside all the bananas and tried to steer around the whipped cream and strawberry sauce, but my friend gladly had that portion. A word of advice: eat this fast; don't even talk to your dining companion. If you wait too long, you'll have a soggy funnel cake on your hands and the remnants of all the melted ice cream. I tend to be a beast when it comes to devouring ice cream, so this wasn't too much of a problem. Just be forewarned - this isn't something you'll want to take your time eating! read more

Their funnel cakes are amazing! It was a little past their closing time when we walked up, but the owners were so warm and welcoming and stayed open for us. We are extremely appreciative of that. The other reviews are spot on. This place is a must if you're craving something sweet in the area. I would give this adorable couple my business everyday if my waist line could afford it. I've always passed there and never got a chance to stop until today.? I usually like the original funnel cake with powdered sugar but it was so hot outside that a BIG scoop of Vanilla ice cream Made it sound just delightfully refreshing so the works it is Crispy funnel cake with delicious whipped cream a BIG scoop of vanilla ice cream slides bananas drizzled with strawberry and chocolate drizzle. While we waited for our food at Giovanni's, we decided to get our funnel cake and eat it first. I was really looking forward to this place. It's located behind the eating area of Giovanni's, and there's a sign for easy spotting. You order through the guy sitting at the table, who I guess is a story teller! He gives the order to the lady inside the truck, and then she's on her way to making her delicious funnel cakes. We ordered the loaded one for $10. Comes with strawberries, bananas, ice cream, choco syrup and strawberry syrup. When we came back to the table, my mom asked me, "WHAT IS THAT?!" She tried a bite and went to get one for herself :p . The funnel cake was so soft, fluffy, yet crunchy. It wasn't overly sweet and it was definitely the perfect dessert. HIGHLY recommended!! read more

Ok so in Kahuku in the same lot as Giovanni's, there's a small truck hiding near a tent selling hand made jewelry, trinkets and knic-knacks and wait for it......funnel cakes! I chose the plain fried and topped with powdered sugar as my cake. There's also a "works" version available for $10 and it's $7 for the plain. The cake was utter perfection. I mean everything from texture, flavor and consistency was on point. It was crunchy on the outside and light and airy in the middle and the piping hot cake itself was the perfect vehicle to transport a ton of powdered sugar to flavor town in your mouth. Cutest little Mom and Pop funnel cake shop! It's tucked away in the back from the other food trucks, and totally scratched the itch I had for funnel cake. It's worth the stop if you're up North Shore way. read more
