Went to Ted's everyday that I was staying in the North Shore and everything we had was delicious. For breakfast I loved the spam egg and cheese sandwich, so good! We also tried the loco moco which was great, but it's quite a bit of food. I shared with my partner and we weren't able to finish it. One of my friends who used to live in Honolulu told me I HAVE to get the garlic shrimp and Ted's is where it's at. She was absolutely right about that!!! Best garlic shrimp I had on the trip. I wish I could go back just for the plate. We also tried the chocolate haupia pie which was delicious & the plain glazed was soooo light and fluffy. We were recommended to stop here for their pie's. My family and I bought the single sliced packaged to-go pies. We bought chocolate macadamia nut, strawberry guava and more. 1 hour later while we were on the road by the beach, I read the ingredients before we opened them and I was appalled! The ingredients are the worst! It's like buying the most processed cake or pie from a chain grocery store artificial processed food! It contains hydrogenated oils, artificial flavor, polysorbate 60, none -dairy whipped cream topping, shortening, high fructose corn syrup, carrageenan. This isn't a home made pie. This is made at a factory and shipped to the North Shore. If you want quality and "real" food. Don't eat their pies. read more

Well, I guess everyone has a "bad day" so I'll just say that we landed on one at Ted's this time. I hate giving negative reviews but my personal rule is always to be honest. This time, neither of us enjoyed our meal at all. Hubby got the Loco Moco that included 2 tough & dry hamburger patties, rice and egg. His gravy tasted more like it came from a can rather than made from scratch on site. I ordered the Teriyaki Hamburger "Steak" plate with local greens (that was good) and 2 very small scoops of brown rice that wasn't enough to balance out the amount of teriyaki sauce. The hamburger patty (same as Hubby's) was tough & dry as well. The teriyaki sauce was overly sweet in my opinion. I really hope this was as I said "a bad day for them". This place was hopping and I think they misplaced our order for a bit. Our service was significantly slower than those we entered with, but staff noticed, checked on us, and corrected it without me needing to bring it up. I always enjoy stopping by Ted's for a slice of pie when travelling back from a North Shore day. The chocolate haupia pie is one of my favorites along with the lilikoi cheese pie. Today, I had the chocolate haupia and it was tasty. The whipped cream on top is decorative and not too heavy, and the haupia is nice, although I do wish it were more coconutty. The service is never particularly pleasant. The workers seem unhappy to be checking people out, at least every time that I go. However, they are quick. I will give them that. Ample seating outside, although there's usually a lot of leftover trash from other people who have eaten there earlier. Stopped in to Ted's after hearing all about their amazing pies and turns out we were in the mood for Pancakes! The ordering system is quick, step inside and they will take your order and give you a buzzer. Then you can step out to one of the many picnic tables while you wait for your order to be ready. After that you just head back inside for pickup. When our Pancakes arrived they were impressively huge. Definitely enough to share and legitimately some of the best Pancakes I have ever had. The coconut syrup also goes great with the pancakes. Since we got the combo we also got two eggs and sausages. Overall Ted's is a great stop and I would definitely return. If you're ever in North Shore and you're like "I need a snack and some food", hop on over to Ted's Bakery for their famous chocolate haupia pie, you will not regret it! We got there pretty early, like around 0830-0900 and we quickly found parking. There are plenty of benches outside along with the menu on the wall outside and a QR code for those who prefer to look online. We walked in, grabbed our pies from the fridge, grabbed some French donuts and a pecan roll. We didn't try the pecan roll but I'll tell you what- I INHALED my pie... INHALED it. It was delicious, smooth and not too sweet at all. The pie had a nice rich crust to it, the chocolate was flavorful and the coconut was a delicious compliment to the pie. We ate it outside at the benches and I think that was what made it taste even better-the fact that it was super cold. There's also a gift section to the right when you walk inside the store- shirts, hoodies, honey, chocolate, keychains and a few more! All in all, come here and get some of their famous chocolate haupia pie because next time I'm in North Shore, I'm stopping by for more! PS. The pies here are amazing! Creamy, but light... I got the haupia chocolate and the light coconut flavor was super subtle and delicious. The chocolate flavor was complex and slightly bitter. What I love about their pies is that it isn't too sweet! The food wasn't the greatest. My Portuguese sausage and egg sandwich was melted with a slice of Kraft cheese, which ruined the dish in my opinion. Teds bakery is still a staple and I definitely want to return ! read more

She loved hers and killed it even before our main meal arrived. Mine was fine - but since I had never had anything like that, the novelty was good. It was really windy on the patio (the one across the parking lot closer to the restrooms seemed a lot more pleasant as it had walls and plants as a windbreak) and the birds were out of control trying to steal our food. Felt like Tippi Hedren in Hitchcock's "The Birds". I liked how they had "compostable" tableware - but I saw only one large trash can, so I guess those things are going straight to the landfill! Picnic tables were filled and the interior was filled with customers as well. We chose a slice of pineapple macadamia cheesecake and a slice of coconut cake. I have to say, this bakery kills it. The deserts are delicious but not overpowered with sweetness. It's hard to describe, but the flavors are amazing and it's not sugary at all. The cheesecake was delicious with bites of pineapple and crunchy macadamia in every bite. The coconut cake was light and fluffy and full of delicious coconut shavings and flavors as well. This is quite possibly the two best baked goods I've ever eaten in my life. The short ribs were kinda tough, not the best. Wasn't a huge fan of the mahi mahi either since it tasted like eggs (google said in HI, it's usually prepared in egg wash before frying). The shrimp was the best; very flavorful and buttery/oily. Chocolate Haupia Pie tasted ok. It was hard to enjoy the food since there were SO many flies attacking and some chickens roaming around. There's a lot of hype for this place and I think it ultimately set me up for really high expectations. The food is definitely good but I wasn't blown away by it and probably wouldn't feel the need to come back or to insist to travelers that it is a must visit when in Oahu. We got there around 11:45am on a Thursday in mid February and there was a decent amount of parking available, plenty of picnic tables open, and a short but slow moving line. There's an option to order your food online but we just ordered at the register and you'll get a buzzer to notify you when your food is ready. Our food came out in less time than it took us to wait in line. We got the Mixed Plate Two Choice and you can pick two items from a premium or regular selection. There is a $2.60 up charge if you select from the premium options which we did for both our choices - spicy garlic shrimp and bbq short ribs. The base price for this special lunch plate is $24.20 plus $2.60 x 2 (for each premium option) came out to $29.40. The shrimp plates also come with a slice of pie so that does help justify the pricing. Four of these plates with bottled drinks put us at well over $100 for lunch. Our mixed plate with the premium options came with 3 shrimps in a perfect amount of spicy garlic sauce and 2 hefty bbq ribs with a not too sweet teriyaki sauce, as well as a side of sweet chili dipping sauce for the shrimp (which you won't need). Plenty of food but not like a whole lot for $30. The spicy garlic shrimp is peeled and was very good, not over cooked, not spicy at all, and absorbed lots of flavor from the sauce. The bbq ribs were not too fatty, but very chewy. The macaroni salad had a lot of mayo but was tender and well seasoned. I also appreciate that they have a brown rice option instead of white rice with your plate lunch. The pies are prepackaged in a plastic container with several looking like they had been tossed around a bit; it includes a nutrition label which is nice if you have food restrictions. There were only about 5 different sliced pie flavors available out of like 10+ on the menu. I tried the chocolate huapia cream pie which was smooth and creamy and not too sweet and actually not too chocolatey either. The lilikoi cheese pie tasted like a very light and creamy cheesecake with a hint of passion fruit. Overall a very touristy place like most of the food stands and trucks in the area with high prices, but the food is certainly good and worth trying if on vacation. read more

He quickly came out with a Chocolate Cream pie. Perhaps another choice might be better. We made one stop to get our plate lunches "to go" from Haleiwa. I really love their chocolate haupia pies and their strawberry guava pies. The pies were creamy, sweet, satisfying, and overall amazing. The pies alone make the trip to Ted's bakery worth the trip. The food however was just average. I ordered the mix plate to try multiple items. I tried the garlic shrimp, the teriyaki beef, and the shoyu chicken. The best of the three was the Garlic shrimp. It had good garlic flavor and the shrimp was fresh. The shoyu chicken was fairly dry and it was smothered in a very thick sauce that didn't do it any favors. The worst was the teri beef. It was thinly sliced but there was so much sauce it detracted from the flavor of the beef. The ambiance has always been the same. The seating is at the front and there are cars that constantly drive by. Sometimes they'll honk while they drive by. It scared me at first but then I learned to ignore it. As for the service, the ladies at the front were nice overall. No issues with their service. Our first visit to this famous bakery was a hit! We've visited the island several times but never got a chance to visit Ted's until now. The haupia pie is their signature and it is absolutely fire! We actually came by thanksgiving morning and crossed our fingers that they would be open while visiting the North Shore and luckily they were open. My family ordered a few different desserts including the pie, a pastry, and a cup of their macadamia chocolate chip cookies. The pie was the standout but these cookies might be the best I've ever had! They have plenty of outdoor only seating under the canopy and across the parking lot near the bathrooms.
