Over the last 10 years me, my family and some friends have been thrilled with the work the shop does. From resetting stones in new bands, sizing rings, and supporting me in the creation and repurposing of cultural themed jewelry. A few years ago, after working with my indigenous clients, I realized that I had no cultural jewelry. So I scavenged the net for Nordic silver. I found a brooch of a Viking long ship, bought it from Scotland, took it to Katie and asked her to make me a pendant. She also recommended a sturdy chain. It was perfect! I received many compliments on the necklace. So for this Christmas I did it again, but this time it was for matching earrings. Katie did it again! Beautiful work, oversized custom hoops - beautiful! Thanks so much! I will be back - and recommend you to everyone.

From start to finish they really listened to all my concerns and wishes. Many photos and videos were sent so I could visualize the whole process. When the ring arrived I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship of the ring! I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful ring! During the customization of the piece I found them to be very friendly, honest and professional! It was easy to trust them with this large purchase. I also found their prices to be more than fair. I also purchased other jewelry from their shop and have been very pleased with the purchases each time. I highly recommend Goldsmithshoppe in Chilliwack for any of your jewelry needs! They have gone above and beyond my expectations and will definitely do business with them again in the future!

The mold was promised to be ready three weeks later. That date came and went with no communication from Jewelry Affair. My fiancée called a week later and the owner explained they were running behind because of snow, which was a lame response (I own a business two blocks away and still managed to take care of our customers during the snow days). He also said his wife had been sick, which would have been easier to be understanding of if someone had at least called us. He said he would have the mold done soon and get back to us. Another week passed with no contact from Jewelry Affair. Three more days passed and the owner's wife left a voice message explaining again that they were delayed owing to snow and her not feeling well. She said the mold would be done in another week. That week passed with no word from Jewelry Affair. I called at this point and spoke to Beth, the owners wife. I said my "patience is exhausted." She said she would look into it and get back to me, again leaning in on the excuses of snow and health delays, this time adding that it's just the two of them (as though their staffing problems should be my problem.) Four days passed with no contact from Jewelry Affair. That Friday my fiancée and I walked into the store and expressed our frustration. Beth explained that she wasn't able to call me back because my name is not in the invoice. She did not explain what kept her from calling my fiancée instead. We were offered no apologies or accommodations. The owner, Rodney, appeared at the top of the stairs to further argue our position and explain away their horrible customer service but could not be bothered to come down and speak with us. I was very angry at this point, and though I did not use profanity and merely suggested they try communicating with their customers, he said I was "being nasty about this." I demanded they return the engagement ring (a $20,000 piece of jewelry). He said he needed it to finish the wedding band, which he had already poured, skipping the agreed step of allowing my fiancée to first look at the wax mold. Rodney said the ring would be done by noon the next day. We came back the next day and the ring was ready. Beth was quite pleasant. The ring was beautiful. It was a better ending to a frustrating experience that should have been joyful given the circumstances. It's too bad, really. The guy is a decent jeweler but, in my opinion, a crummy business man with an attitude problem. We won't be back.

I have had several pieces of jewelry created and been more then amazed by the end product…read more On Sept 9th I went in with two tanzanite stones I had purchased in Alaska many years before. With the assistance of a staff member I came up with my own design. I received an estimate of $600 at the most. The design was sent away to have the mock ring created. Nov 20th I was called and told the mould was back for my approval. I rushed right in so excited to see how it was going to look. It did not disappoint and gave my approval right away. Excited about having the finished product on my finger I called at the end of January wondering how far it was from being finished. I was advised it wouldn't be much longer the jeweler just needed to set the stones. Super stoked!! End of Feb comes and I call again because I haven't heard anything. They tell me the exact same thing, the jeweler has it and is just setting the stones. I'm frustrated and advise them this is what I was told in January and they had the approval to be created back in November. I was advised it should be completed in a couple of days and they would call me. Feb 28th I receive a phone call, the mucky anticipated creation was finally completed and ready to be picked up. I rush to the store, an hour drive from my house, butterflies in my tummy. I can't believe it is finally completed and I get to wear the creation I had made especially for me. I was not disappointed. In fact the opposite. I couldn't believe I had created such a gem. I knew I was going to be proud to wear it and show it off. I asked what the remaining balance was and was told $338. I just about fell over. What happened to the $600 estimate? I had already put down $500 and was fully prepared to pay another $150 - $200. Why would it be anymore then that? I'm sure they would have contacted me if it was going to be above the estimate. Perhaps, I have my head in the sand. This isn't the first ring I have had them create from my own design. Again, I had provided my own gemstones and I'm almost positive they called me to advise me the cost was going to be $200 above the estimate and did I want to continue on with the creation? So you can imagine my surprise to see that there was $338 left owing. I kept saying are you sure? They went through the details and said there needed to be an additional 2oz of gold to finish the creation. It wasn't that I didn't have the money it was the principle of it. They tell me the amount owing after I have this awesome ring on my finger!! I'm still shocked at the difference between the estimate and the actual final price. I would think hard before having anymore pieces created by them. Don't get me wrong they do incredible work. Signed, Loving my ring
