Great staff, well kept amenities and good space to relax. I was checked in and introduced to the spa with a short tour. The locker room area was clean and well stocked. The bathrooms and showers are too. The snack area was a bit disappointing, only ice water and no hot water or tea offered. Only one kind of trail mix nuts. The inhalation room had a nice essential oil scent blowing and the wall projector plays a nice northern lights display. The mirror room has all the essentials - body lotion, hair spray, hair dryer though very outdated and could be a newer model. The hot tub was kept at a good temperature and has working jet streams. The steam room pumps steam in frequently. The sauna was hot and wonderful. My massage service was very good. My masseuse Kevin did a wonderful job with the deep tissue massage. read more

Aescape - Robo massage This was a cool new experience. You're given an outfit for the machine to be able to glide on your body. After a scan and setting your preferences, your massage begins. During the massage, you're able to change the music, skip a certain area, and add or decrease the pressure. It's convenient having the customizations at your fingertips and the pressure is accurate. I had a quick 30-min massage and overall it was a good experience. 4 out 5 for the massage. The spa portion wasn't the best, as it was a cold rainy day so the pool wasn't an option. I also mentioned several times it was my first time at the spa and wasn't given a tour or told about the amenities. I chose to use the fitness center but wasn't told about any lockers or anywhere I could leave my belongings. Storing my umbrella and coat would've been convenient. The experience at Lantana spa was saved by the most amazing servers at the pool, like Jessica. She and her teammate, James, were kind, thoughtful, and amazingly attentive. When I checked in, I was greeted by the manager who was rude and entirely disrespectful. I was surprised to learn that they purposefully do not post their available pool day pass openings online. He refused to be accommodating or even kind after I had already reserved a cabana. While asking for guidance, he was very dismissive. If it wasn't for the excellent service and kindness of Jessica, I would have given the lantana spa less than 3 stars. I have been to many spas in the Houston area and at other JW Marriott locations and was not impressed with the small spa at the JW Marriott San Antonio. read more

I had a great Mani Pedi here, but the front desk is unable to figure out how to charge your card appropriately and I was double charged for my services. Not only did they double charge me (which my bank notified me of), they refused to correct their error and transferred me to a number in their accounting department that didn't connect to anyone. This is absolutely inappropriate and unacceptable to charge your customers twice for the same service and then do absolutely nothing to fix the problem. I would advise against going to this spa if you care about the financial security of payments. It begs the question that if they can't get this right, what else is going on with spa management? read more

I enjoyed the spa facilities a lot!! Their private pool outdoor is glorious and big in size! They even have an indoor and outdoor hot tub. I loved their indoor hot tub the jets were incredible and strong!! Their steam room was out of service. They had a great variety of water or tea options upstairs was trail mix and downstairs had even more flavored water options. I also enjoyed the downstairs loungers they were very comfy! As far as my massage goes it was more rubbing and not getting any knots out i was sort of disappointed. I would've hoped he got at least one knot out and the entire time he talked. I booked the spa for a girls day. My friends and I arrived at 1:30 PM for our 4 PM appointment. I don't think we came early enough, because there are lots of relaxation activities here that we could've enjoyed had we arrived in the morning. Three of us got massages after sitting by the pool. I found it hard to find the pool because you have to go downstairs to find the doors that lead out to the pool, but the stairs are labeled "treatment rooms". The guy at the front desk answered my question with a little bit of attitude as if I was asking a dumb question. I let it go because I'm at the spa to relax. The pool side staff was very friendly, but it took an extremely long time to get food. Upon receiving the food my fries were undercooked but the burger was overcooked. Luckily my massage was amazing. The table in the therapy room has so many different adjustments that my massage therapist was able to make me the most comfortable I've been before even starting the massage. Mia give me a Swedish massage and was able to pinpoint all the spots. She's amazing, I'd come back for Mia and I'd want to plan nothing else for the rest of the day except resting the whole day and using all of the amenities. read more

Went to Lantana Spa at JW Marriott for the first time today and I was not disappointed at all. As soon as I walked in, the front desk (Elizabeth) greeted me and asked for my name to ensure they have me in the system for my spa reservations. Once all that was confirmed, She explained exactly how things what was going to happened and gave me a tour of the place and all the amnesties that was at my disposal, if I wanted to use them. The 50 minute massage was great but wish they would have massage my arms as well but I didn't speak out since I was half sleep . The massage therapist was super courteous but tried to talk to me the entire session though I made it clear I wanted to relax lol. The mini snack bar had the white chocolate pretzels that were all stuck together. The tea containers were nearly all empty. Nothing really stood out to me. The inhalation room was basically a tiny aroma diffuser with a salt lamp and some chairs lined up. Bathrooms and showers were not cleaned and replaced with new towels and supplies. You would be better off going to oak haven. I came with 2 other people for a spa day and our services were at 11. We arrived at 9:30 and checked in and were looking to relax before our appointment time, maybe have a mimosa. I've been to many other spas that have hot tea, light snacks, cucumber or citrus water, you know something to offer. Lantana had plain ice water. There were a few options of grab and go stuff but nothing that looked appealing. Covid restrictions have been lifted in the city for a while and they are still using it as an excuse. Fine, but at least have a server that could offer us the same things you apparently had pre Covid. I mean the prices are the same right? I got a massage that was fine but nothing that was worth $180 and I left immediately after. Save your money this "spa" is not worth it. I've been to the spa on two occasions, Mother's Day and my 30th birthday, and I can't wait to come back. I didn't stay at the hotel, I am local, so I only visited the spa. I had a facial, massage, and a pedicure. Next time, I'll skip the pedicure. They didn't offer shellac and that's what I like to get on my toes, to me the pedicure wasn't anything special. But the facial and massage were both incredible (on both visits). You get access to the spa pool and other amenities all day and they offer poolside food and drink service. read more

Arrived after a round of golf on the TPC Canyons course. Located on the grounds of the JW Marriott the spa is steps within the golf pro shop. I arrived early and was given a personal tour of the private grounds, men's facilities, assigned a locker and sandals. The men's wet/ dry steam room and jacuzzi were ideal to get relaxed and cooled down before taking a waterfall shower. My female masseuse was awesome on delivering my requested deep tissue massage and I caught myself dozing off several times. The spa is beautiful yet functional with various lounge areas to relax in. After my treatment, I enjoyed a super lunch at the Replenish spa café ( hummus, burger & sweet potato fries) After lunch I took advantage of the private outdoor pool, jacuzzi and cabanas which included an attendant. The female staff provided complimentary sun screen, tanning lotion, beverages and towel service. This particular day - Friday, the spa open until 8:00 pm so I took advantage and used every amenity offered before heading over for dinner at the hotel restaurant. Yes it's pricier than the Asian massage joints but for the environment, quality and convenience it's so worth it! The spa offers specials during the week so check them out first. During the weekends expect to pay the rack rate which in my service was $145.00 plus the gratuity. I would definitely return here in the future! Hidden treasure! I absolutely loved my time at the spa. The lady's had my mom and I feeling like queens by the time we left! My boyfriend booked this as a Christmas present for us and it was super easy to check in. There is a very elegant locker room for you, which includes a robe and flip flops. The bathroom area includes showers, restrooms and is stock with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and towels. The wash room also includes mouth wash, toothpaste, combs, makeup remover and ponytail holders. It even has a sauna, steam room, hot tub and private pool for the spa users. The locker room is stocked with infused water, hot teas and coffee. There is a healthy snack bar upstairs that serves burgers, fruit and yogurt w/ granola, wraps smoothies and more. You can also walk around the resort and eat at the restaurants they offer ( but they are Resort price so keep that in mind) It is well kept and clean. The staff is friendly and let you stay chill through your stay. They don't nag you or anything crazy. The message was 100% what I was looking for. They don't talk through your session and I was looking for someone who put their back into it and that's exactly what I got. Man all my pain was gone and I felt relaxed! They asked me what areas I wanted them to focus on and that's what they did FOCUS on those spots. Def. coming back for another message but with the boyfriend. :) read more

1 star for robotic customer service. On their brochure as a guest of the JW you can use the spa amenities for 60 bucks for the day. Not my first rodeo. The front desk blonde said they were fully committed after I said I just wanted to use the amenities and I did not have any services booked. Didn't offer anything else or asked how long I was staying or come back tomorrow. Other spas you don't need to make an appointment for using the amenities. 1 star for the manager who took care of the situation. He booked me a time to go in to use the spa the next day. Absurd. Also said they are at capacity when they say they are fully committed. Laughable. The two hours I was there, I didn't see anyone else using the hot tub, steam room, essential oil room or sauna. All the other customers had spa appts and was on the first floor. Oh and there are over 98 lockers at the spa. They are just full of shit! They just only want people who book massages and facials. There are way better spas in town way better than Lantana. Never again. read more

She really knows her stuff, and has an incredible technique coupled with anatomy knowledge. The facial and massage we all had were amazing and deserves 5 stars! We spent the entire day in fluffy robes and sitting by the pool. We did get harassed by a front desk employee following us in the bathroom yelling at us to put mask on or walking in our dressing room where we were changing and starred at us to make sure our mask were on. We propose a new word to describe this stealth-ninja kind of inflation: skimpflation. It's when, instead of simply raising prices, companies skimp on the goods and services they provide." The JW Marriott Resort and SPA bills itself as a Spa. They offer the services at inflated prices and offer none of the bells and whistles. A planned day at the spa was to include a light breakfast, a mimosa or two, a leisurely treatment followed by time spent in the pool and sauna and then lunch. Those plans came to an abrupt halt immediately upon arrival. Food service included a grab and go cooler. We were told we could go to the hotel and get something to bring back to the spa if we desired more than the pre-made offerings. The nice receptionist graciously dug up some pre-COVID tea bags and offered the three of us cups of hot tea. None of the expected spa amenities were present. A dispenser of ice water was the only refreshment. Needless to say, we had our treatments and left. Next time I want to spend $200+ for a 50 minute basic facial, I'll book with the corner esthetician. read more

I hate to say this because I truly don't like leaving bad reviews but this spa is NOT worth the price they charge. I planned a spa day for myself and 3 family members and chose to try the Lantana Spa for the first time as it came highly recommended. I called prior to booking services to make sure they served drinks and food as we enjoy drinking champagne and having lunch by the pool after our massages. I was told yes they did. Unfortunately I was not informed they aren't doing poolside service because they are still using Covid as an excuse to not fully staff the facilities. Apparently they are opening their poolside service and Bistro in about a week..which would have been great information to know when I booked as I would have just waited a few weeks to be able to enjoy the full experience. When we did order they only had 2 salads and a wrap as food options and only served canned drinks. Again I was not informed of this limited menu- they said they had multiple sandwich and salad options as well as wine and mimosas. They did not tell me these were all canned, pre-mixed drinks. I asked for 4 wraps but they said they only had 2 and were unable to get more. An hour later I saw another guest purchase a wrap, so apparently they were in fact able to get restocked. I then asked for a bucket for ice so we could purchase a few drinks and keep them cold..I was simply told "No we don't have one" without an offer of any other alternative. I asked for extra cups of ice to which the girl at the front desk responded "so you're just gonna walk around with like 12 cups of ice?" which was not at all what I was trying to ask for. It was just very rude. The other girl working at the front did try and make up for her coworker's blatant rudeness and offered me a bucket a few hours later, but at that point we were about to shower and get ready for dinner so it wasn't necessary. It was too little too late at that point unfortunately. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our massages and had excellent service from our masseuses as well as the wonderful lady who was working in the locker room restocking towels and things. But the front desk staff truly made our experience less enjoyable. I have been to the Loma de Vida spa at the La Cantera Resort multiple times during Covid and am always blown away by their facilities and customer service. I highly recommend you do not waste your money at Lantana Spa until they work out their "covid" kinks and book elsewhere if you want the full spa day experience. I truly hope they can raise their standards again and provide the experience so many of my friends experienced there at one point. But unfortunately my experience yesterday left a lot to be desired. read more

So I had an enjoyable spa day but a few things were just a little off at this spa. 1st the bathrobes must be designed for little fellows or maybe the just bought all the same size for men and women. I am a big guy not huge but these bathrobes were pretty small and were very uncomfortable. Also there were no pockets in the robe, a small thing but no place for tips for the masseuse. The steam room wasn't working properly either so that was a little frustrating. The reason why I gave this spa 4 stars instead of 3 was because Chris my masseuse was great and she gave me a fantastic deep tissue massage. read more

My husband and I spent 2 days here and loved the couples massage we received and the facials also. The only recommendation I would give to the spa is to hire friendly front staff. Some of them had an attitude. When you come in super excited to spend time at a beautiful expensive spa and you receive people who have bad customer service it was a little heart breaking. The staff in the back were very polite and helpful. The one thing that bothered me was that they told me 2 times what time the place closed. I wanted to say "I heard you the first time". I had two services gifted for Mother's Day: massage and mani/pedi. The Swedish rest massage was wonderful! The massage therapist provide a great experience and made sure I was comfortable throughout. 5/5 for massage. The mani/pedi was not good. The manicurist was nice but they lacked things I love at nail salons I typically go to. First, I asked for help on color selection and she didn't care to help. The room was small and no frills. Immediately after the pedi, she hurried me out of the room before my polish was even close to being dry. Polish didn't last a week. For just under $200 for both mani/pedi, regular polish, and to take off old shellac off toes, definitely NOT worth it. Save your money and go to a nail salon that will take care of you and you can enjoy the "extras" I rate 1/5 for mani/pedi experience. I'll never go back for nail services. Wow!! Is all I can say...I walked into a beautiful lobby and was greeted by the most friendly hostesses. I had made a pedicure appointment the day before and I truly was not disappointed. The sap is everything a spa is supposed to be. Relaxing, smells amazing, comforting workers, and amazing amenities. I arrived about 15 mins early and the hostess showed me to the men's area. Earnie was my men's attendant and showed me all I needed to see and know about the men's spa. They have a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, rain shower, and an inhalation room, private showers, and all the toiletries you might need. The steam room is built with maximum relation in mind. I highly suggest checking out the amenities. They come included with any spa package or you can buy a day pass. My pedicure was amazing. Janie was amazing!! She really showed why the JW Marriott Resort is so outstanding and well loved. She gave me one of the best pedicures I've ever had. I highly suggest asking for her. I will be back!! read more

I booked a couples massage, which my husband was very reluctant to participate in as he's not a "spa" kinda man...or so he thought. He was so resistant that I had to reschedule our appointment for our last day at the resort. He's also NOT a morning person, and was not happy about the 8 am appointment with Christina and Louis to do deep tissue. The facilities are fabulous, indulgent, clean, relaxing. Both Christina and Louis are extremely knowledgeable, professional, skilled. I needed special attention paid to my upper back, shoulders, neck and arms - and Christina delivered! I was drooling. At the end, I asked hubby was I right about it being worth waking up early. His reply is the best endorsement possible: "I would have woken up at 6 AM for this! Next time, we need to do this on the day we arrive!" The only reason I didn't give 5 stars had nothing to do with the service, as our massage therapists were fabulous. It was the robes. While luxurious, they're not made for plus size folks. I had to carry a towel in front of me. A bit embarrassing. Still, thank you for such a terrific experience! read more

SuZen. That is my new moniker after visiting the Lantana Spa as part of our 10-year anniversary at the delicious JW Marriott in San Antonio. What a way to celebrate! A smiling receptionist checks me off the reservation book and shows me the facility. Zen music floats through the air and I immediately breathe in a lung full of herbal relaxation aroma. Ahhhh. "This orange-infused spring water is for you." "These hot towels are for you." This herbal tea bar is for you." Sweet. She directed me to the locker room, or should I say "changing room" and gave me a key to my locker. Inside was a big, white, luxuriously fluffy robe, which I adorned myself with as she brought me a pair of spa shoes. I love her already. She showed me where to wait for my massage therapist, and I sat in this lovely room with a view of the pool and waited my turn, sipping on the lovely orange spring water, feeling like a very lucky lady. My awesome hubby arranged for me to have the Restorative Organic Massage, which consists of "a citrus inhalation and vigorous scalp massage to restore mental clarity and is followed by a steaming hot towel massage and foot treatment." I got this off the website; I can't say it any better. My massage therapist was awesome. The Zen music was piped in at the perfect pitch, and she only spoke to ask me how I was doing. Thank you! I talk and am talked at all day long in my profession, and just to lie there and be pampered in this way without having to interact was, well, glorious. Afterwards, I hung around and sipped on some ginger tea until I felt I could actually walk back to our room (instead of floating). I was a bit shocked when I looked in the mirror; I slightly resembled Medusa after having my mental clarity restored. Stayed at this hotel for a business trip and ended up getting to go to the spa here. I spent the whole day here, the service I got was called the "Lantana Spa Ultimate Escape" The massage/body service: "Spirit of the Canderos Energy Spa Journey" Ultimately it was good, I fell asleep so I would say it was pretty relaxing haha. The custom facial: Tailored to my skin, left my facial feeling refreshed and super clean. Intermission/Lunch: Good. Like the salad. Sandwich was ok. Mani/Pedi: Nail tech did a good job and had great conversational skills. We talked about everything. They don't do gels here though (bummer) The spa itself is really nice. This is one of the only FULL service spas that I've been to in Texas. They have everything here, from a sauna, steam room, hot tub, inhalation room, their relaxation lounges to the spa water. The amenities include a gym, jacuzzi, steam room, a pool and a full service restaurant with organic offerings. My favorite amenity was the inhalation room with comfortable chairs and pleasing scents. Walk down the spiraling stairs and you will find their treatment rooms tucked away quietly below. They also have a boutique onsite with high quality clothes, accessories, skin products and much more. Y'all, this place is worth the money! Came here w a girlfriend for a little r&r. The spa itself is set on the side of the hotel which is perfect bc the noise level is minimal to none. When you walk into the lobby, you are greeted by a spa staff. They walk you to the back which is then a small little foyer for the spa. You are given a quick tour of all the amenities. You are then given your own locker w slippers and a robe. If you are getting a service at the spa, you are able to use all the amenities there and it's adults only. There's a steam room, sauna, aromatherapy room, adults only pool and jacuzzi (outdoors), and a relaxation room. You can spend the whole day there! They have a cafe on location so you can order snacks and drinks. We both had an appointment for a Swedish massage. My masseuse, Sophia, was amazing!!! I highly recommend her. She is tiny, but mighty. The Lantana Spa, appended to the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort, was one of the high points of my stay: 100 percent serenity. True relaxation. I scheduled an appointment with Patricia to have my eyebrows waxed, and not only did she do an exemplary job, cleaning up my troublesome arches, she gave me the rundown on the various restaurants and activities the resort had to offer. When guests purchase any treatment at the Lantana, they also get a day pass to use the facilities. I enjoyed a soothing dip in the whirlpool and calming sessions in the steam and inhalation rooms, taking time to enjoy a glass of chilled lemon-cucumber spa water in between. The robes were nice and fluffy, and the shower area clean and stocked with everything you need (facial cleanser, mouth wash, deodorant, etc.). Spa staff were cheerful and gracious. An awesome experience, all around. The Lantana spa caters to people 18 and older, and thank god for that; the resort (the main hotel) itself was infested with parents with very small children; the noise and commotion were simply not to be believed. Living right across from a preschool and elementary school, my idea of fun isn't listening to the shrieks of young 'uns while on my vacation -- I get enough of that at home. My only regret is that my better half and I didn't purchase day passes to the spa for the duration of our stay (the spa also has a private pool). read more
