I've been to the Doraville location of Lan Zhou ramen and liked it, so I thought I'd try the location is Roswell. The menu is a bit different with this one offering a sushi bar while the Doraville location offering some other authentic Chinese dishes. The food was ok here. I prefer the Doraville location. I am so glad they opened this location in Roswell! A great place for comfort food! Waitress are super nice and friendly :) There are plenty spots to sit! And you can observe the kitchen through the windows! My go to orders are the seafood noodle soup and beef soup with knife cut noodles. They made their noodles in house, so very fresh and chewy! And they marinated the beef by themselves too! Both of their soup steam buns and pork buns are taste are very good if you are into pork! The xinjiang stir fried chicken is their chef special. Me and my friend stumbled on this restaurant by chance and everything was amazing! Never had duck in ramen before and it was the best dish I've had in a minute. I came for famous hand-pulled noodle, since I lived at Lanzhou for many years. But it was a disappointing experience. There are plenty of parking spaces, internal decor looks nice, service was good and courteous. I order hand-pulled noodle with beef flank, my wife ordered same with beef tripe, we also ordered steamed soup dumpling and a scallion pancake. The dumplings were nice and tasty, the pancake was okay, no layers as we expected. Finally the noodles, soup and beef were the major disappointment: my first impression was the noodle did not taste like hand pulled, and soup was not good as I had at Lanzhou or anywhere in China. Later on I verified from the display window that the noodle was truly hand pulled, but they were far from authentic Lanzhou hand pulled noodles. Anyway it's not bad, just not as good as I expected. The hype is real! I ordered the beef noodle soup with hand cut noodles, pork buns and soup dumplings to go. The beef noodle soup had a large piece of ginger that flavored the delicious and savory broth. I ordered the knife-sliced veg and egg noodle soup with beef broth. It had a good flavor and a range of subtle spice. The raw tomatoes were a little weird, but that's probably just me. The noodles were thick with plenty of chewy texture. I also tried the scallion pancakes, which had great consistency and crispiness--definitely a highlight. The ambiance was comfortable, with cozy seating that made it a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal. It had a laid-back vibe, which was perfect for a casual lunch. We got take out from this place. We have visited the other location. This location is new. The place was smaller than the other location but just as nice. There were people eating when I arrived to pick up my order. When you open the door, you get the aroma of good food. The people there were friendly and help me quickly. When getting home the food was still warm and good. We had gotten soup with hand pulled noodles with some appetizers. I would recommend this place if you are looking for some good food. I would want to go back to the place and eat in house. There are only certain things you have to get that has to be eaten right away. They were very accommodating especially since we had three kids with us. The kids loved watching the cooks hand pull the noodles through the kitchen window. The food was great. Met my dad here for Chinese New Year since we're meant to eat noodles on this day. The restaurant was brightly lit inside and had a welcoming atmosphere. We started with the Steamed Soup Dumpling. They were pretty tasty. The dumpling sauce with them added a nice, slightly sweet touch. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of them. It was basically a stock picture of soup dumplings. My dad ordered the Seafood Stir-Fried Hand-pulled Noodles, and I ordered the Beef Flank Hand-Pulled Noodle Soup. The stir fried noodles were the better choice. The sauce was flavorful and the noodles were chewy. My soup was good. It just wasn't great. I would most likely choose a stir fry or a different soup next time. Service was fine. Well not a good start for Lanzhou! Ordered my take out thru UBER EATS and just got 3 items. Chicken Brocolli was average at best and THEY FORGOT THE RICE! Edamame was basic. Fire Island Roll came with no Soy Sauce and was sloppy... I did call the restaurant to try to right the situation and ELLEN offered me a free Rice Next Time I visit :). The dumplings were generous & very good. The sushi was alright. Beautifully displayed & large in quantity, but not the quality & taste was just ok. My husband liked the spicy tuna. But it fell apart. The rainbow roll was ok. I had the Naruto & shrimp tempura. The size of the roll was so big...too hard to eat...I asked our server & she recommended asking for smaller portions in size next time. Have been to their location on Buford Hwy. Was excited to see this new Roswell location. They did a good job with the outside signage/video screen to catch people's attention. The interior of this location is much more modern. They seemed to be working through some service protocols, but that's to be expected at a new place and they were very nice about everything. Beef noodle is usually my go to, but everything I've had so far has been great. The noodles are hand made, done well, and can be made to your preferred thickness/thinness. I remembered trying the peachtree location in the Chinatown building. The noodle soups and noodle dishes in general are excellent. So I was anticipating the opening of this location since it's closer to where I live. And I was thrilled when it finally opened a couple months ago. The interior had a modern yet chinese vibe to it and was undoubtedly clean. And the service was impeccable as they take your order and make sure they got it down correctly. A real friendly environment. The noodle dishes, whether soup or stir fried, were as delicious as I remember it from the peachtree location. And they also serve great dumplings and other dishes you expect from a Chinese restaurant. The one thing that made this location different yet unique was the sushi. Trust me when I say this, the sushi is just as good as everything else they serve. Since they also have a bar, Lanzhou Ramen N Sushi is ideal for both lunch and dinner.
