I am always craving this place. They have noodle dishes and the wonton is delicious. The workers are super nice and helpful and were able to accommodate for 10 people last minute. It has a traditional looking interior with wooden plaques around. I would have to recommend getting wontons no matter what dish you get, the sauce is so good and we were picking at the peanuts. I got my favorite Hot n Spicy noodles, this was a little more sour than I remembered so if you don't like sour soups I wouldn't recommend. came to amherst to do some shopping and wanted to get some chinese food, luckily saw this place which had really good reviews was recommended to get the beef brisket, which was probably what i was going to get anyway since that's sort of what it seems like most reviewers say they are known for. i also got the tofu skins and the cucumber I thought the beef brisket dish was pretty good overall. the soup didn't have a ton of depth to it, but overall still really good. i liked the noodle choice a lot as well, and was glad that there were some vegetables in there. the tofu skins were really good and had great texture and just the right amount of vinegar on them. the cucumber was just alright, it didn't really have any heat despite being in chili oil and it was slightly sweet which i wasn't a fan of overall all though really nice restaurant, hope to be back read more

Super authentic Taiwanese-Chinese food that's well worth the value. We had their braised beef noodles, braised pork rice, and some shrimp and pork dumplings and they were all delicious and perfectly cooked. Lao Hu Tong is a new restaurant near Amherst center. It's adorably decorated and while it's a small space, it has a lot of seating. I don't think they accept reservations but we only waited about 10 minutes for a table on a Friday night. The menu is small but they have a few vegetarian options to choose from! I wish they had a veggie soup dumpling option though because soup dumplings are sooo good. Anyways, I got the Hu Tong sesame noodles which were SO good. They have no spice but there is chili oil on the table so you can make it as spicy as you want, or keep plain! They don't sell alcohol! They have some soft drinks and tea instead. Great Chinese restaurant in Amherst. My wife and I ordered the Golden Nori Wings, Hu Tong Shredded Tofu, and Auntie's Beef Noodle. We loved the Hu Tong Shredded Tofu and Beef Noodle soup. I had the beef brisket noodle soup and it was soooo good. The soup was packed full of noodles. There is probably half a pound of thick tender noodles. They have such a nice chew and were the star of the soup. The beef was extremely tender and flavorful. The broth was rich with a good amount of chili oil so beware of the spice. On May 7th, Thursday I drove from Hatfield all the way to Amherst. Hoping to try out many dishes. It was after 2pm when I got there. Half the restaurant seats (the right side) were empty. I was given a small table near the entrance and I asked for a larger table, since I planned on ordering quite a few dishes to try. The maître d' said "No", that they reserve those seats for four people. I completely understand if the restaurant was busy or expecting more people. I said, no, I would be leaving. I was allowed to leave. After all, he had no stake in the revenue. But I hope the owners will take notice of this. You have lost a customer, and likely a repeat customer. In addition, whatever happened to service and accommodating customers, especially when it costs nothing in this situation. read more

We enjoyed several dishes including our favorites the Dan Dan noodles, sesame noodles, minced pork rice and soup dumplings.
