Upon my first visit, I spoke directly with the tailor about a pair of jeans I wanted hemmed and she explained to me the different styles/stitching I could choose from. I needed to have a dress altered (shoulder straps taken up) I google searched alterations near me and came up with 2 both in Rockland, went to the first and was told it would be $70.00, I left with the dress, the second which offers 1 hour alterations advised they didn't have enough time... went to lapels as I used to use them for my dry cleaning- what an excellent experience, went in- the seamstress ( wish I remembered her name such a nice person) did the measurements, took the dress and had it ready when I needed it to be - and charged under 20! Linda runs a top notch business! we drop off bags of clothes there every week adm they come back clean and fresh in a timely matter every time. last week i was sure something was missing from my pick up and she went through every order to find it was not there. she even called me the next day to see if i had found the missing items. i searched and of course found them in my husbands closet. highly recommend! read more

Dropped off a item for hemming, received price for the work and date for pickup. Got a call a few days later stating they couldn't complete the work on time. Told them that wasn't great news, so I would have to find someone else to do it, they then replied that the work could be completed on time. Ok, great. Went to pickup the item and was charged QUADRUPLE what they told me it was. When I questioned this, was told they had called me and I had said this was ok. Well, they must have called someone else. The only call I received from them was the call about the timing of the work, no one called me to discuss extra charges. Offered to show my call history, but they declined. Lied directly to my face with no apology, no explanation. Oh, and the hem was crooked. So I was massively overcharged and the work was shoddy. I'd suggest finding a better quality tailoring service elsewhere. read more

I've had a few suits cleaned here as well as a few repairs (seams coming apart and pants re-hemmed). I've been happy with their service every time! The staff is friendly and helpful (they even called when they had a question about one of the repairs to make sure it was done right) and the jobs are always finished in a timely manner. Kim W. was running a fledgling business until one day, she stopped caring about the customer. I am a person who hardly complains about anything in life. I came to this Lapel's after leaving another dry cleaner I used for years, primarily because shirt laundering prices were better, and because Kim herself was such a consciencous entrepreneur. I could get behind such a person. After receiving shirts back that still had collar rings, I just ate that for awhile. I finally mentioned it to one of the kids she hires. It got taken care of. You'd expect that. It was had to have blazers cleaned there because they were always returned with lapels that were not neatly pressed down and defined. The sportcoat always flew opened and looked sloppy. It wouldn't button right. Kim took care of this twice for me. You would think that she would make a mental note of that. Well, the last time this happened was my last time in her business. She went on about how she couldn't do the press any other way, despite having done it twice before. Huh? I typically drop about $1k on dry cleaning each year. Despite the prices for shirts at Anton's, I am going back there. At least I will not be wasting time, money and effort trying to convince a business owner the first rule of business: the customer is always right. read more

After many years of trying to find a dependable, reliable and efficient dry cleaner that I can count on Lapels has been all that and more. I have always been welcomed and treated with kindness from the moment I walked thru the door. I have never had a problem and have made some requests that other cleaners would roll their eyes at but Lapels has always come thru for me.
