I went to get some clothes done at Lapels and there's a old Latina lady working there you won't miss her she's in the videos. She seems so angry with an attitude and also racist. She said my clothes needed some extra charge because of the elasticity which the shirt definitely wasn't. The reason I'm saying this is because when you bring your clothes in she'll try to find some unreasonable reason to charge you more for the cleaning. Instead of giving you good customer service and wanting you to come back she'll try to get as much as she can regardless of what the reason is. I've never experienced a business owner as unreasonable as the one at Lapels Dry Cleaning on Highwoods Preserve in New Tampa. I brought in a pair of cream-colored Zara slacks for a basic dry clean. When I returned to pick them up, the pants were clearly damaged: the color had shifted to a grayish white and the length had been shortened by over an inch. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the owner insisted this was the pants' "original color." To avoid any confusion, I brought in the identical pair of pants from home (same brand, same size, same tags). Side-by-side, the difference in color and texture was obvious to anyone. She still refused to admit any mistake and instead doubled down with a claim that made absolutely no sense: she insisted that the pair she damaged was simply showing the "original fabric color before Zara dyed them," and that the pair from home must have been altered or dyed by us. Let me be clear: she genuinely argued that stripping a garment of its store-bought color and returning it to some supposed raw fabric shade is normal dry-cleaning practice. That is not only untrue, it's completely irrational. No customer brings in clothing hoping it will be undone back to pre-manufacturing condition. She took the pants back to "fix" them and returned them stretched out, with the fabric texture affected, and still the wrong color. Even then, she refused to take responsibility. Throughout this months-long process, I remained reasonable. I asked only for a dry-cleaning refund and $75 toward the ruined pants, even though they originally cost more. She refused, accused us of lying, claimed the pants were different items, sent them off to a chemical lab without updating us, and finally offered just $50 only if she kept the pants, and still no refund. Her logic was inconsistent, her claims were absurd, and her customer service was nonexistent. I strongly recommend avoiding this business, especially if you value your clothing. read more

I took a brand new double-breasted sports coat with large buttons to be pressed because the jacket was purchased online and mailed to me with wrinkles. I took it to this shop to be pressed. I picked up the jacket and as I was unwrapping the plastic a button falls off. It had been broken in their pressing process and was stuck to the coat. There is an actual button indentation in the fabric. I took it back to the store and the unfriendly and unlearned clerk accused me of breaking my own button!! They refused to accept any responsibility or figure out a solution. Instead, they choose to BLAME THE CUSTOMER. Needless to say, I will clean my cloths on a dirty rock before I will step into a Lapels location. This is a chain cleaners. Perhaps they teach the blame technique in the franchisee class. PLEASE SAVE YOUR CLOTHES AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! As someone who sells and re-sells clothes, things have to be pristine condition to do so. The reviews mentioned on here made me feel comfortable and confident in what defined their service. I've never had a problem, maybe some minor wear like any other piece, worn 2X type of vibe, but never an actual stain ofc. In particular, I left a Amiri B-Ball Cashmere shorts, paid $850 retail alone for this as it was the only size that fitted me. Rest alone with Lapels being Lapels, I was assured they can easily dry clean any wear on the piece. Once I got back the shorts, I saw a mark that was left unnoticed so I politely asked them to see to it. After a week, I followed up to see how everything turned out and to my dismay I saw everything bled thru and completely ignored the aspect of dry cleaning. I came back to hear the Manager/Owner to tell me that I did it myself! She claimed it was given to her like that and she takes pics of before and after each service, so I called her out on that and said where the picture before the bleeding happened? She didn't have a picture and said we don't need your service anymore, we're voiding all orders with you. Im crying there asking for some sort of answer and a resolution to the fact I'm completely ruined here and she followed up by saying these fabrics are extremely delicate and even if you paid $500 anywhere these things happen. Anyone paying a $500 dry cleaning service should expect it perfect, not damaged. If you care about the details and the overall security of your belongings, Lapels will dessert you and make you feel bad for doing there job. I did not know what "ripped off" felt like at a dry cleaning service until my encounter with Lapels. It was a red flag when they started video taping the garment I brought to them for the first time without even asking me for permission. Then they claimed special care was needed for the garment and hence I needed to pay much more than what I was told. They used the video recording to argue that the garment was in much worse condition than what was true, but how can one say shadows on the garment were actually stains? Lying and then almost shouting at me even though I remained polite and calm the ENTIRE TIME. Worst yet, the lady pushed my hand away when I wanted to inspect the item and prevented me from even examining the garment until after I paid. Unbelievably rude and preemptive in their interactions. Probably because they have had so many customers complaining about the way they do business. Unfortunately, they scammed me. After dropping off a set of drapes, a woman from Lapels called me and said after assessing the drapes, the bill would be 135 for cleaning and 45 to fix a rip. It seemed a little pricey but I said okay. The next day I get a charge notification from my credit card of 348 for the drapes. I called to contest and the same woman clarified and said it was 135 per drape. She also reminded me that she said to me the day I dropped them off that the bill would be "more than a hundred dollars". During that first call, I specifically remember me asking her, "it's 135 plus 45, right?". "Yes", she had responded. It was too late now to get my drapes back as they were already being processed. The day I picked up my drapes, a younger woman was there. After some consideration about contesting the bill, I decided against it. She handed me the drapes and I quietly left. At least the younger girl had more heart than the older woman. Before I got into my car, she handed me 15$ worth of store credit. I haven't hung the drapes so I don't know what condition they are in. I'll update this review if I find any issues after hanging them. I hope my review is helpful. I wish this business was more forthcoming about the total price and my story should serve as a warning to others. read more

I was truly excited to get my husband's clothes dry cleaned. They picked up our clothing on a Tuesday and they were dropped of in a Friday. The problem is the women was not transparent with the charges per item. she noted all shirts $3.95 and pants $7.75. I received a charge that exceeded amount and when I called to find out, the women representative noted it was more due to "polo shirts" being $7.95. They did a great job with dry cleaning but please be transparent with the pricing, no one likes surprises. read more

Be aware of any coupons emailed to you from Lapels Dry Cleaning. The local Lapels Dry Cleaning store DO NOT HONOR them. The Lapels I used to go to is located on 6431 E County Line Rd in New Tampa FL. This is how they remove the discount from your dry-cleaning order. I received a Lapel dry cleaning email offering 20% off my next dry-cleaning order. When I arrived the person behind the counter ask to see the email. I opened the email and was asked to click a link that redeemed the offer. The person using her cellphone took a picture of the 20% offer. This was just a charade on her part. She took my drycleaning and said it will be done is a couple of days. When I picked up my dry cleaning the total amount seemed high. I asked to see if I received the 20% discount. They said NO. I receive a very small discount. They called it a 3-day sale. Whatever that is. The discount was not even close to the 20% promised in the email. I challenged the price and was told to show them the 20% email sent to me. I brought up the email and again was asked to click the link for thee 20% discount. When I clicked the link, the result displayed was that I HAVE ALREADY USED THE 20% DISCOUNT. So now I have no proof to show the clerk, and he was not willing to give me the 20% discount. If you go BE PREPARED TO ALWAYS PAY FULL PRICE REGARDESS OF WHAT PROMOTIONS LAPELS SEND OUT. I agree with a recent poster that the lady that runs the Tampa palms location is very rude to customers. I requested to have 2 prs of pants taken in at the waist and hemmed. They do not do the alternations in house, they have a subcontractor, which is fine but the price was out of sight. The lady indicated it would be $20 to hem each pr of pants (which is ok) and $45 to taken in the waist of each pr. This is extremely high and when I complained she said $35-45 depending, to which I said for that price they should be perfect. She strongly expressed to me that their tailor was a "professional". I said ok and that if they didn't look right I wouldn't pay. She cinched up the pants and pinned them, and I was skeptical bc this is not how previous tailors have pinned pants, I asked if I could or should visit the tailor in person to make sure the pants were marked correctly. The answer was No, bc she works from her home, you can't go to see her. I said ok and returned when she said the pants were ready. They were beyond awful and I'm sure she knew before giving them to me. They were sewed exactly the way the lady had cinched them, making the rear bunch and poof, utterly ridiculous for $35-45. I was slightly angry and annoyed that she even thought this was remotely ok but then she got nasty and told my husband that I was rude to her. She didn't attempt to apologize but kept saying she was not a seamstress, which no one accused her of being, she told me another person did the alterations. He told her that we wouldn't be back for dry cleaning or anything. She didn't care. Also, we had used them a few times for dry cleaning and their pricing is NOT transparent, probably for a reason. My husband dry cleaned ~11 items, of which 2 prs were jeans, 1 hoodie, the rest a mix of polo and button up shirts. The total was near $150. They charged $26 for the hoodie and $9 for ea polo, I can't remember the rest. When I asked for a receipt to show the itemization she gave a receipt with a total and then got angry when I asked for a breakdown. She was huffy and rude and told me to write it down as she was going to tell me. This is not how regular businesses operate. I have dry cleaned clothes for over 25 years and have never not received a bill detailing the charges and usually this happens when you drop off the clothes. Your receipt is not simply a tix to retrieve your clothes, it usually tells you how much your order will cost when you pick up. Although this place adequately dry cleaned the clothes, we will never use them because this lady is beyond rude to customers. She needs to recognize customers are what keeps her in business. Used Lapels New Tampa for a coat and a jacket dry clean and another jacket to be pressed only. I was shocked that the total was $138 and almost had a heart attack. I see no justification whatsoever for such a high charge regardless of what the fabric and brand of the items are. The business should have called me to let me know that the total will be this much. I don't believe I paid $138 at least for one of the items when it was brand new. Sadly will not be going back to Lapels again after years of being their customer. I had been searching for a alteration place in the area that was reliable and affordable. Both of those options are limited in the area. I took a chance and dropped off some work pants to be hemmed. I was put into the computer and told that when my pants were complete they would email me to let me know. At the time the gentleman estimated it was going to be $18 a pair to get hemmed. Quite steep if you ask me! I was also given about a 5 day window of when they were to be finished. I don't know if they do the alterations on site or send them out. Maybe that's why they are costly. Fast forward to Wednesday and I still hadn't received a call or email that they were ready. I ended up contacting them. Pants were ready and price dropped down to $15 a pair. I'd say that's pretty decent, but still on the high side. The pants were hemmed nicely and from what I can tell. Will I return? Probably not due to it being a chain and so highly priced. read more

Also, the colors of my clothes stay intact.The price is up there when compared with some other dry cleaners; however, the difference is that this place is using an environmentally-friendly product for cleaning.
