Honestly, I saw a review or two that was not complementary. I find it impossible to believe. Maybe it was the customer. Customers' are not always right, even though we may think so. She is definitely skilled because I had a very complicated vintage gown that had to be taken in at the waist and she removed every single little bead to take it in and sewed them all back in perfectly. I've been coming here for years and yes Kathy's pricing is steep and her turn over time is extremely long but usually it's worth it. Not this time. I've stopped by on 3 separate occasions during business hours and the shop has been closed. I finally caught her and was told it was be over a month and a half for turn over, and when i asked for help with just one item (that I'm trying to wear for my 30th bday) she said no and i had to wait until august. Terrible communication skills; unprofessional and shouldn't have a business dealing with people

This lady is a remarkable seamstress! She's been tailoring my clothes for many years. She is able to lower the waist line of my pants since I'm short wasted. I didn't even know that was possible! I've also had her put darts, hem, and totally alter my shirts. I have asked her to do some of the craziest modifications to my clothing, and she's almost always been able to comply. If it can't be done she'll tell you right away. Usually there is a one-week turnaround time. I've never used their cleaning services, but as a seamstress she is absolutely amazing! read more

Because of Kathy and her husband's alterations service, I am excited to look glam for my work xmas party. I called them up, & let them know I had to have a long ball room type satin dress altered on the bottom and that it also had crinoline underneath it. I told them I needed it a week later for a work xmas party, & wanted to see if that would be enough time. No problem. I went in with my dress, was welcomed with open arms, & they proceeded to measure what had to altered. Nice and easy. I told them I needed it by tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 11 in time for my Friday party. I called them back, and requested it earlier. I picked it up today with ease. My dress is perfect, and because of them, I can be the queen of the ball, well maybe not that, but close enough. read more

I brought a $150 Calvin Klein dress to Kathy Custom Tailor & Dry Cleaning. The dress is designed with color blocking which means 1/2 of the dress is a solid light pink color and the other 1/2 is solid burgundy. I picked up my dress and I didn't look at the dress until 3 weeks later when I went to wear it. The entire shoulder that has light pink was ruined with black stains. It appears that the stains came from pressing the dress. Kathy didn't want to accept responsibility for the stains but she took the dress back and had her cleaners to redo the dress. I picked up the dress and only some of the stain has been removed. Don't ever bring your clothes to Kathy for dry cleaning. I strongly do not recommend this place. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

I never write reviews unless positive but feel the need to share to save someone else the headache and money. Kathy hemmed a dress for me and the hem was still dragging by 2 inches on the outer layer, and the inside liner was short. When I told her, she turned it around on me and started to yell. I was VERY surprised on the differences in length and even more shocked with how she spoke to me. Not professional and not impressed with her work. I would not recommend! read more

Brought a leather jacket in with a torn seam in the pocket. An older man with a thick accent refused to work on it. Told me it could not be fixed. Strange! I took it to Richie's on Dale Mabry and they fixed it like new. read more

I've taken clothes to Kathy for the usual for a guy (hems, taking in pants, etc) but I really like how she transformed some of my shirts into a slim fit look. I like to get my shirts now from Charles Tyrwhitt in the UK. They offer excellent flattering slim fit and extra slim fit shirts. I've taken some of the blousier shirts (traditional american styling) to Kathy and she was able to "slim" the look. Prices are very reasonable and the delivery times (usually a week to ten days) are also fair. I would repeat. read more

So disappointed! I went here because its close to home and the Yelp reviews were excellent. Well my experience was terrible! I brought in 2 brand new pairs of pants (purchased for $50 each) to be hemmed. The owner was pleasant. Although I had already set the hem length I had wanted with safety pins on both pairs, she insisted on measuring and marking them herself. I put the pants on and explained how I wanted the length to fall over my shoes and to accommodate different heel heights. She seemed to understand. I picked up my pants a week later on the date I was told they would be ready. When I got home I checked the pants and 1 pair was about 1/2 inch shorter than I had wanted but worse than that, other pair were hemmed 2 different lengths!!! There was over 1 inch difference in the length of the pant legs! And the short side is way too short, so they cant be fixed to fit me! I am so upset! I have now lost $50 on at least one pair plus the $10 per pair I was charged for the alteration. I will not take the pants back to be fixed, there is nothing that can be done to put the length back on. I just wont EVER go there nor will I recommend them to anyone!!! read more

I cannot express how much I love this place. I brought in my daughter and her dance costume and I didn't even need to put it on her for Kathy to see what needed to be fixed. I came back in a week and it was fixed and fit perfectly. I have been here before a few years ago with my wedding dress and some shirts that I needed altered and all were perfect. read more

I am a flight attendant. I require my uniforms to be altered often. I brought my uniform to Kathy to be altered. The first time it was altered I put the uniform in the washing machine and the hem came undone. I then took the uniform to Kathy to be fixed. She fix the hem. I brought two more uniforms to her to be altered. She told me it would be done in one week. I came back at the end of the week it was not done. I came back the next week it still was not done. I came back two weeks after that it still was not done! I then waited 1 month after that, and came back, the uniform was finally done. She refused to give me any kind of compensation she could care less that the fact that it took two months to finish my uniform, and was extremely unpleasant as if it was my fault. She told me that she already gave me a free service because she fixed my hem for free. A HEM THAT SHE DID THAT FELL APART AFTER ONE WASH!!! In my opinion this person does not need to be in business. She did a horrible job when she did it on time the first time, and she did a horrible job getting it done on time the second time. Rude and inefficient. The refusal of accountability for her work and lack of efficiency is appalling. I would never EVER recommend this business. read more

UPDATE: My original review stated that 2 of the 3 dresses we brought to Kathy were completed. It turns out that they were not completed properly either. After my dress was not delivered as promised, I had my daughters try on their dresses again, just to be sure. It turns out, the work she completed on these dresses was wrong. When she measured the dresses originally, she never used a measuring tape. She just eyeballed it. I trusted that she was the expert and knew what she was doing but, I was VERY wrong. I had to take ALL three dresses to be repaired in Massachusetts TWO DAYS before the wedding. I had to pay an additional $100 for these repairs to be completed and that doesn't account for the fact that we had to personally drive the dresses to the tailor, due to the time constraints. This was 45 minutes each way. My dress had to be taken in another 3/4 inch on each side and my daughter's dress had to be taken in a total of 3 inches (1 1/2 on each side)! My other daughter's dress had to have the lining repaired so that it didn't keep poking out. It is truly never worth risking your alterations to this establishment. I can highly recommend the tailor in Massachusetts. They acted professionally, went way above and beyond what was required, and didn't even charge a high premium (which would have been perfectly reasonable) to do it. This was the direct opposite of what we experienced with Kathy's Custom Tailor & Dry Cleaning. Original review: I brought 3 bridesmaids dresses (to be worn in my brother's wedding) to Kathy to be altered. She completed 2 of them and the third, mine, still didn't fit right after the first set of alterations. She said she would take it in some more and have it ready for me in a week. We had already waited 2 weeks for the dresses to be altered. I foolishly paid for all 3 dresses and agreed to return in a week. When I returned to pick up the dress, Kathy told me she 'forgot' to complete my dress. I was leaving in 3 days for the wedding, which was out of state! She asked me to come back for it the next day and said she would get started on it right away. I was shocked and very upset. I told her I expected at least a partial refund. She told me, "No, I told you I was sorry." I told her to give me my dress. There was no way I was going to trust her with it another moment or ever come back to her place of business again. This business doesn't deserve any stars at all. NEVER waste your time or money with this place of business. Trust me, it isn't worth the risk. A business that isn't willing to own their mistakes and take responsibility for them isn't worth anyone's time. read more
