One of the highlights of Universal Studios outside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was definitely Lard Lads Donuts. I don't watch the Simpsons, but I appreciate giant delicious donuts, so I'm a fan. The mascot was adorable and the donut we got was huge and big enough for three people to share, plus I'm a sucker for pink frosting and sprinkles. Yay! The infamous big pink Homer Simpson Donut was one of my must-trys going to Universal and it did not disappoint. :) There's a long line at this stand, and it wasn't only till after I realized you could purchase the $5 big pink donut at Moe's, the gift shop, and various other places in Krustyland. Still, the staff at this stand were super friendly and I didn't mind the wait too much. They have the big pink, a few different types of normal size donuts, and soft serve ice cream. Prices are decent compared to other places at Universal. I split the big pink with my brother and it can definitely be shared between 2-4 people. The donut was actually very soft, a good dense bite, with sweet icing. I didn't expect it to taste as good as it did because I assumed it was simply novelty, but it was a winner! read more

I was one of those suckers that couldn't resist trying a donut from Lard Lad, since I grew up with the Simpsons. Call me sucker for the Simpsons but I truly loved the donuts from here. I ordered the Big Pink, which was reasonably priced, not only for being inside of a theme park but for the size. When you see these babies you know you'll need to recruit friends or embrace the sugary coma which comes from single handedly eating a donut the size of your head. Was praying it would be good and oh it was. Great dough, with the perfect amount of pink frosting. Our group bought two Big Pinks. Was a little melty at the park due to the heat which I enjoyed. At the hotel the next morning, still great. They had a few other standard styles to choose from as well as ice cream for those hot days at the park but I will be returning for my love of the Pink. Do not waste your money and time at this donut place. Worst experience buying a donut I've ever had. To start I was using cash and the price was $8.50. I had $8.42. I asked them if the could spare 8 cents expecting that they would be a normal human being and just let me get it anyways. Instead he said no. After all the trouble I was expecting what I saw other people eat a big round normal looking donut but it was just a watery deformed melted peice of bread. I got their 6-inch cake sized donuts for $5 and didn't have high expectations until the next day when my friends and I decided to eat it. Mind you that we were going to save it for dessert but never got the chance to have it so we ate it for breakfast. You take a yummy donut (yeast based, but a bit thicker than Krispy Kreme, which I liked). Slice it in half, and load it up with swirl soft serve ice cream. Top with the other half of the donut, hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry and voila, you have heaven in a dish. Finding a seat nearby to enjoy your confection can be a little difficult, but even if you have to plop down on the concrete, find a place to sit down so that you can enjoy this dose of pure deliciousness.
