Stopped by on a Friday morning around 8:30. The place was dead- wasn't even sure it was open. A friend at work told me to check this place out, but I noticed the donut place down the street had a full parking lot and cars lined up on the street! Anyhow- we were greeted upon entry. The donuts looked super fresh and fancy. I immediately ordered the fritter- it's a favorite. Then we went with the French toast and the pumpkin spice donuts. We looked for the cereal donut that my friend recommended, but it wasn't there this time. I couldn't help but notice the fly that was hovering over the donuts as the employee gently swooshed it away a few times while we were deciding. We took our donuts to go. They were carefully packaged. The fritter was definitely the winner. The French toast and pumpkin spice were very similar- a circular donut with icing and a dollop of flavored goop in the donut hole. Meh. I would not order either of those again. Fancy donuts but not special enough for me to frequent this place. The fly was a real downer. Maybe have the donuts in a covered case.
Cute donut shop in the SoDo area located on Orange and Michigan. I am all about gourmet desserts and this place has some delicious donuts! There is always a friendly attendant waiting to greet you and help answer any questions you may have. I stopped in and grabbed four massive donuts for the family; salted caramel with corn flakes, chocolate brownie, birthday cake and blueberry cheesecake. These are large donuts that are baked fresh every morning. The inside of the donut is so light and fluffy. The outside is decorated elaborately and very flavorful. Personal favorite is the birthday cake, but the blueberry cheesecake is not far behind! Definitely worth stopping by and seeing which flavors tempt you!
Stopped by today for their special Harry Potter bday donuts and wasn't disappointed. They had a great selection of their usual options along with some wonderfully decorated Harry Potter themed donuts. We tried 4 of them, with my favorite being the coffee cake donuts. The donuts were perfectly soft and flakey, and I loved that they weren't overly sweet like the options at a lot of other donut shops. The interior was nice, with a modern/minimal feel and plenty of seating, and the staff was friendly and helpful with making decisions on which flavors to go with. Looking forward to coming back to try some of their other donuts soon!
Decided to support a local business one morning and stumbled upon Shaka Donuts. I ordered a ton of donuts for a work meeting and everyone LOVED them. The flavors were so unique and delicious. Its a good size shop with a tea shop next door. They had the donuts on the display so you could see what you were order. You could also dine-in if you wanted to. They had small tables in the shop to do so with a cool live of surfers on the tv! Service was great for being a large order so early in the morning. I did order a latte with flavor and oat milk but i thought it was way too sweet. They also sold breakfast items and bagels! Overall the donut experience was great.
We tried Shaka Donuts for the first time earlier this week and we were so excited to taste these beautiful donuts. We ordered a half dozen to take home. We tried a croissant donut, guava donut, brown sugar/pecan, peanut butter and jelly, apple fritter/ pineapple, and a Samoa donut. We enjoyed the toppings on all of them. The donuts themselves weren't bad, but they were pretty bland. The restaurant itself was really nice and so was the staff member we interacted with. It was fun watching the families come in and seeing the excitement in their faces to see these beautiful donuts. For our taste, we don't need to return, but I'm sure that many others may really enjoy Shaka.
Definitely going back here! They have a range of classic and creative donuts, and they sell quick! As other reviews mentioned, they seem to close early if they sell out. All the donuts I tried were very good, soft and fluffy, not too sweet and a perfect amount of filling. Pricing varies based on specialities, but is fair and worth it! The environment was very clean, and with easy parking in front. My favorite was the french toast. I hope to one day try the malasadas (only available on SELECT Wednesday and Sundays). We were told that it's best to call ahead of time to see if they are making malasadas that week. One of the best donuts in Orlando!
Stopped in quickly for May 4 for Star Wars donuts! My boyfriend absolutely loved them. These donuts are so yummy he mentioned! The Wookiee donut was bacon and peanut butter. The earth Vader one was a chocolate donut!! Definitely returning soon.
Some of the best donuts my family and I have had. Super fresh and tasty. Every donut we tried we all loved (the guava, coffee cake, and chocolate brownie). Prices are very fair and donuts are huge! Glad we found this spot we will be back. They also have coffee and ice cream that looked delicious, we will be dipping into that soon. Thanks!
Impromptu visit here for the first time & glad I stopped by! There was only one employee to help us, and there were a few ppl inside so it took a bit of time to get helped.. but the young lady was very nice. Moriah is her name I believe. The donut flavors offered all sounded a bit average, nothing peaked my interest too much, but the donuts looked good. Most of the donuts tasted really yummy. Texture light and fluffy and not too sweet which I loved! Least favorite was Nutella... favorites were dulce de leche and strawberry shortcake :)
OK Orlando. Let's see what you have to offer in the donut game. Do you know it's not easy to impress me since I am a self certified doughnut, connoisseur, sommelier, aficionado. This is a cute little donut shop on the corner that is also combined with an ice cream shop. I didn't sample the ice cream. Most of the donuts were essentially the same donut with different toppings. They had some interesting varieties. I decided to go with a fritter, an original glazed, And your Parulian fry donut without the cream filling. The fruit it was my favorite. It had a nice hint of both coconut and pineapple. It was kind of more like a piña colada doughnut. The flavors weren't overwhelming and it wasn't too sweet. The OG donut was nice light and fluffy. A very good basic doughnut. The fried Peruvian donut was very dense with a decent amount of sugar topping. It was more like a round churro. Overall, this is definitely worth a stop and you'll enjoy one of the other varieties.
I had been meaning to stop by and try not only the doughnuts but their malasadas and got lucky! The shop is nice, clean, modern and it has a section where they serve ice cream. The doughnuts are shown right as you walk in. The staff could had been more attentive and answer my questions, as it seemed I was being an annoyance. As for the doughnuts, those are airy, fluffy, fresh, tasty and do not leave a greasy aftertaste. We got the brownie doughnut which was tasty and not overly sweet (which I like) and 2 malasadas. One was filled with chocolate and the other with coconut, both very tasty. Wished they had more filing as they barely were poked and filled, only got a bite of it on a side. I will be back if I am in the area and wish the staff would be more engaging.
I really wanted to like it. We googled and came for Dole whip which was on the menu but they no longer serve it. The woman was really nice with customer service which is why I gave 2 stars. I had to swap my shave ice because the pineapple syrup tasted spoiled. I ordered the Cronut & the Strawberry Shortcake donut. The Cronut was old and dried out. The strawberry shortcake donut was old and the strawberries had started to go bad. Unfortunately they really need to make sure their food is fresh and label their items with dates. It could make someone sick.
Service was not very friendly, but the donuts' selection and location were cute. I would not come back because of the sevice...other donut shops are more welcoming.
Shaka has some of the most unique and tasty gourmet donuts I've had in my many adventures of finding the best donuts in the country. To see all the donuts freshly made and exquisitely lined up for your convenience is such aesthetically pleasing to look at. My sons split a sausage breakfast sandwich and I had the spam breakfast sandwich. So ono! The sweet and savory combo works here! The shop is clean and the cooks/servers are very personable and friendly to make sure you're having the best donut experience. Things to know: I personally prefer hot and fresh donuts. But I know for quality of the gourmet donuts, you're not always able to get that. But on Saturdays and Wednesday, they make malasadas which are God's sweet gift to the world. If you're able, make sure to order one. Also with these being gourmet donuts, they're going to be pricier than your Dunkin or Krispy Kreme. Know that going in. For 2 breakfast sandwiches and a dozen donuts was over $60. So just plan ahead and know in advance you're going to drop some money on some amazing, life changing donuts! read more
I'm not exactly sure what to say about this place.. The shop is cute, service was nice, but I don't think these were the doughnuts for me. They were okay, not too sweet, but they did leave a strange film in my mouth. Better to look at than eat, unfortunately. read more

One of my favorite gourmet donut places I enjoy eating. Always something new coming out and I love that not every delicious looking donut is filled just full of delicious toppings. The Malasada donut is only made on Wednesday and Saturday's. It's a hawaiian dough that can be ate alone or with your desired topping. I would definitely buy it the next time and add nutella and strawberries on top @ home. Clean store, clean, minimal space. Great service. My coffee is the bomb!! read more

Such a gem of a place! Craft donuts, coffee (including Nitro cold brew!) ice cream, and shaved ice - with Hawaiian style condensed milk in top as an option! I love all the options especially coming here with my toddler. Small shop but lots of room for a stroller. Quiet ambiance. Friendly service! Parking right in front and on the side. The earlier in the morning the better as donuts are made fresh daily and can run out by the afternoon. read more
I was thrilled to finally check this place out and got to try their cronut which was absolutely delicious. The morning I went I had the chance to meet the pastry chef who created these beautiful treats and she was so nice and offered great recommendations. It's hard not to want to buy the whole place. I went about 9am and there were still a lot of fresh options. I love that this place is open until 9pm every night, except Mondays which is the only day they're closed. She did advise me that not all options may be available later in the day due to items selling out so the sooner you go the better it is. I also tried the strawberry shortcake donut which only left me wanting to try more. Go check them out. read more
Really didn't hit my expectations (but I'm a bit of a donut critic). I got the filled cookies and cream and it barely tasted like cookies and cream. The cream inside was overly sweet (and I have a BIG sweet tooth) and the flavors didn't collide how I wanted. So, I left the house early today to run an insane amount of errands. I was on the Michigan Ave. area, stopped by a gas station, got some coffee and my imaginary friend said: "you know that a donut will go perfect with that coffee, right?" So I googled "donuts near me". And then Shaka donuts popped up in my search,so I went there. Oh, man. I'm so happy I went. I could tell that almost half of their donuts were sold out, but the ones remaining on that counter....looked like heaven. I had the brownie with chocolate and caramel, blueberry cheesecake (my favorite) and the creme filled. Ate one right on the parking lot, got my sugar rush and drove straight home so I could demolish the rest with my Son. I see people complaining about the prices. Well, these ain't no krispy or dunkin' place. These are far superior and are totally worth the price. So good that if I have to go out of my way to get a few, I will. That's how good they are. I always drive past Shaka Donuts and wanted to give it a try. I know they sell out fast by the late morning-afternoon, so I made sure to go early so that I could have the full variety to choose from. When I first walked in there was the donut shop to the left and then the icecream shop to the right. I was pretty disappointed in these donuts. They really were nothing special and overpriced (my total was over $20 for 6 donuts!!!!?!) I've definitely had way better donuts before. The donuts were dry, HARD, and the flavor just didn't do it for me. The abundance of the toppings on the donuts really tried to compensate for the poor execution of the actual donut. Sometimes things just don't taste as good as they look!! I don't understand the hype about this place. Mediocre, overpriced donuts. I really wanted to like Shaka donuts, but I don't think I could give it another chance. read more

This place is pure DONUT ARTISTRY, it's a beautiful place. I live in a bad location where all we have is Dunkin for hours in any direction... So, anytime I am out of town I search out local donut shops that make their donuts FRESH and ON-SITE, which makes all the difference in the world. I only had a few days in Orlando and luckily I checked out Shaka Donuts. The Donuts are light and airy, yet satisfying, with a superbly delicate outer crunch leading to the cloud-like, doughy interior. The foundation of donut making here is solid, so whether it's a classic or one of the fancy kinds you cannot go wrong... The FRENCH TOAST DONUT was my personal fav. The ALOHA FRITTER is a banger, instead of apple it's made with pineapple, with an outer crunch that is substantial eventually leading to a soft, doughy interior that is making my mouth water right now while thinking about it. And they have good coffee too! I highly recommend Shaka Donuts - SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL DONUT SHOP!!! read more
This place sells out fast! I came in on Friday around 1:30ish-2 and there was 3 donuts to select from! This did not steer me away though, I got a 2 of the Pua donut, so like maple bacon, for $4. Such a great donut, it's one of my favorites so I was super pleased! I noticed they also had ice cream at the location which is a nice addition! I will definitely be back, at an earlier time, to try and pick from a bigger selection of donuts!! read more

It was my first time trying a cronut (croissant donut) and it was pretty good. A different texture than what I'm used to but I would probably get it again. I loved how the donut wasn't too sweet either. We went closer to closing time and there was still a lot of choices to pick from. The inside is very minimal and have plenty of seating. Shaka donuts was the first spot I tried while apartment hunting in Orlando before I even fully moved here. And lefts just say I ended up moving about 10 mins away and that may have been on purpose I go grab what I can whenever I'm near by and I've never been disappointed! The staff is always so generous, friendly, and inviting. And the donuts NEVER disappoint and I've tried just about every one on the menu! If you're in Orlando you HAVE to try them out! 10/10 Pro tip: go as early as you can to get the freshest and best selection of donuts because by the end of the day most times the best flavors are sold out! read more
Disclaimer: I'm not a huge donut fan but I love a good pastry. I stopped in because I was in the area, starving, and new I wanted to try something new. When I pulled up, I sat in my car on a phone call and noticed a steady stream of people coming and going. It's Friday afternoon and not many people are stopping for food at this hour. There was one guy working and looks like they were done baking for the day. Many of the flavors were already sold out. I opted for the Salted donut, Cookies & Cream, Bacon, and Nutella. The donuts are nice and think, taste homemade, and didn't taste like those famous national brands. My favorite was the bacon donut; that one I'd order again in a heartbeat. If you're into donuts, this might be your spot! read more
I love the layout and design of this doughnut shop it's simplistic yet beautiful. From the packaging of the doughnuts to the presentation of all the variety of delicious doughnuts. They even have ice-cream and coffee to enjoy. They're going for Hawaiian vibes and the the donuts are so good! I got the blueberry and dolce de leche. They were beautiful and so enjoying. I also got a pumpkin spice iced latte with oatmilk it was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors! They even have a doughnut with bacon! So good. read more

This place is super cute and they have delicious donuts and ice cream! I've been meaning to try it for some time, so I was glad to finally catch them open while in the area. I definitely recommend the donuts and the ice cream. We had the cookie dough donut and the pua (maple glaze and bacon) and my husband got the birthday cake ice cream. read more

I was craving donuts, so I figured it was time for me to try out Shaka! When I walked it it was pretty quiet so I was able to go up right away and place my order! There were many options to choose from, but I decided to start off with the Coffee Cake, Pua (maple bacon), and a sprinkle donut. What's really awesome about these donuts is they're packed with flavor but they're also very light so that means you can have more...right? I'm so glad I finally made my way out here! It's convenient to get to, and to top everything off they sell coffee as well! I'll definitely try that on my next trip! read more
5 Stars for a beautiful variety of donuts that brightened many people's day! I am in a quarantine pod with my immediate family and needed a sweet treat for my nephews bday last month. Bring me, I left it to the last minute and ended up making a day-of UberEats order of a dozen donuts from Shaka (nearby). I randomly chose a variety of donuts and hoped they'd be tasty as well as visually appealing for the reveal. Success! The box was filled with freshly made donuts with all different color toppings and flavors. I got too "Tia" points and cut a few up for the nephews to enjoy a sampling. You'll see from my pic, that they are medium sized (not massive), which I really liked because it meant a great topping to donut ratio. Boxed well, traveled well with delivery, so 5 stars from me! read more

This place is connected to Shaka ice. We went here after brunch and I was excited to try it but they literally had one big donut and one donut hole flavor. I was really shocked. Maybe they are super busy early in the morning? Not sure. The donut was good but I was not very impressed. read more
What a great new spot!! We have been waiting for months for this place to open and been super excited for it! Finally saw them open their doors and were able to head in less than a week after their open. The parking lot is smaller, so it was a little challenging to get a spot as this place has had a popular opening (which is good news!). There was a line to order, which was fine as we needed to look over the menu of options. They have both handheld menus and a board that shows the options as well. We decided to get four different donuts to try out - Beach Bum, The OG, Big Island, and B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Our personal fave was the beach bum, which was super tasty as a sugar and cinnamon coated classic donut. I recommend them all though! The staff was very friendly and I love that you can see them make your donuts as they are ordered. Fun idea. Overall: A Great new addition to the SoDo area and glad to have them in our neighborhood! read more
